Lg. Brown and Tan Glazed Crock w/Handle and Lid
Cleaning out my cabinets and discovered this crock tucked away in a box. It measures 8" tall. 5' opening.6" total diameter of top opening.Excluding the handle, the circumference is 28"The handle is another 9" long and is 2 1/2 inches from the crock.There are no chips or crazing on this crock. It can both serve as a jug or a storage crock.It weighs about 6 1/2 lbs as is before packaging. I have had it now for well over 10 years and it was originally purchased in upstate NY at a tag sale. It really is a nice looking piece.

Today's Auction is for a Antique Ovoid-Type 1 Gal. Crock from F.H. Cowden- Harrisburg Pa. circa 1880-90. In fact this same F.H. Cowden served in the Civil War years before.It's in good condition with no cracks or holes. Just to let you know there's a chip on one spot on the base. Very old or possibly there when it was made and a very small nick on the outside top lip. No one would mention these because they are insignificant, but I like to let folks know everything so they're happy with an item that I send them. For it's age it is in terrific condition because if you know about stoneware it's very difficult to find with no damage, some can be major. Antique three(3) Gallon Fort Dodge. Iowa zinc glaze stoneware crock Up for auction is an antique three gallon zinc glazed Fort Dodge. Iowa stoneware crock in excellent condition. The Fort Dodge. Iowa Stoneware Company existed from 1896-1906. In 1906 it was purchased by Western Stoneware Company and then became the Plymouth Stoneware Company from 1908-1909. Red Wing Stoneware Company then purchased the business in 1909 and continued ownership until 1910 when the plant burnt down. It was never rebuilt. This crock is over 100 years old and is almost 11” tall and 10” in diameter. The markings are in black ink. The crock is in very good condition with no chips. Glaze skips or hairline cracks. It does however have two“off-colored” stains that can be seen in photos, BUT… The camera exaggerates the severity of the stains as they are not that noticeable ... morein“real life” Please refer to all photos as they too are part of the description. Offered here without reserve is this one gallon saltglaze stoneware crock by Hamilton of Greensboro Pa. She measures 10" high. There is some crazing of the glaze to the backside(see picture 4) But more critically there's a spider to the base(see pictures 5& 6) Its a pretty tight spider, however, since the crock still rings like a bell when tapped. Again, though there is no reserve but buyer pays $16 for domestic USPS shipping.

This is an original JAS James Hamilton& Co. saltware/ stoneware crock. It's blue and gray salt glazed stoneware crock is marked"JAS. Hamilton& Co. and"Greensboro. PA. We found this information about the Hamilton companies from Greensboro on Wikipedia: Early on in the town’s history. Pottery became an important part of Greensboro’s economic base, with the first operation owned and operated by Alexander Vance. Vance settled in Greensboro in the early 19th century, while still very young, and began a small pottery trade operation with his brother James. The stoneware was unique in that it was manufactured from local red clay and thus had a very distinctive coloring. The ... moreVances eventually began to expand their operations. Bringing in David Boughner, who took over the business in 1819 when the Vances left for Ohio. Boughner was the first operator to fire the stoneware in a salt kiln. Although Boughner’s operation may have been among the earliest and most advanced stoneware operation in the area. It was by no means the only one. James and William“Leet” Hamilton arrived from New Brighton, Pennsylvania, in 1850 and started a pottery manufacturing company of their own. The remains of their endeavors, which operated under the name James Hamilton and Company, can still be found along Water Street. The original James Hamilton and Company did not last long. However, and in 1866 was sold to Leet’s son Frank and a son-in-law named John Jones. Together Frank Hamilton and Jones expanded the business and began selling their wares on a grander scale. Hello and Welcome! For bids. We offer this antique WEIR Monmouth No. 1 Storage Crock. Description: This is a very old and in great condition storage crock. The crock is made of stoneware and measures 5 1/2 inches(to top of bale) and is 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The crock bottom is the classic white/gray and brown glaze. The crock is marked with an impressed stamp at the top of the neck in a small circle"Weir. Monmouth, K" The crock is outfitted with an interesting wire bale, having a curved release handle. The cap/seal is fairly interesting also and is marked in raised letters"No. 1, PAT March 1st 92(1892) April 16th 1901" Overall the crock is in excellent condition, the metal bale is in great shape and only the cap seal has any wear/damage to it. Cracks, repairs or breaks The lids are removable- has no chips. Cracks, or breaks in them. Two small stains on underside of the tan crock lid and discolor on inside of tan crock. The Wire handles and latch to keep lid secured are intact and operational. The Blue/White crock rubber seal is not the greatest and lid slides forward some. I am including both rubber seals. Tarzana ? 3 gallon crock brown and white
Although this crock has some staining on it. It is in near perfect shape- nothing compromised. It you look in picture 3, there is a tiny chip on the outer bottom rim. There is some painting drips in picture 9 and I am not sure if they are over the glaze or under as I have never tried to do anything with this except display it. Because it is not as appealing as some listed are, I have started the bid much lower. Still a great crock though. Shipping weight is about 16 pounds. This is about 14 inches tall. Pictures 5.6, 7 show very small chips to the upper inside rim which are so high they don't comprimise this at all. The inner lip of the lid cover them completely. The metal spout reads"Trademark O&H EZY-Kleen Pat# R20" It is from around 1910. As you know crocks are quite heavy so this is UPS shipping unless you are close enough by to come pick it up. Addition to listing: After more research it appears to be Persian. Possibly Iran? I am getting different information on the age. Some say 17th or 18th century others say early 20th century. This listing is for an old Stone Jug. I don't know the history of it or who it was made by. I am hoping someone can help identify the maker or any information would be helpful. It appears to be stone with an enamel coating? It isn't perfectly symetrical. The jug stands about 6.25 inches tall. 4 1/8th across and 2 inches deep. I won it in a box lot at an estate auction. It looks like there may be a incised stamp on the bottom of it but I cannot make it out for the life of me. As for condition you can see that it is crackled and worn.
