We can't recall seeing this very charming mark before, and can't seem to find any record of stoneware being sold with this mark, so we're guessing it's at least very scarce if not quite rare. Probably dates to the late 1800's, we're also guessing. We're also not sure, but believe this is either from Mansfield, Ohio or Mansfield, Massachusetts. We invite emails with further information that we can add to this listing. Nicely decorated with a cobalt feather like design below the cobalt washed merchant stamp. And a stamped"2" for a 2 gallon crock above it. Measures about 8 and 3/4 inches tall and 9 and ... more1/2 inches across. There is a crack that begins at the top edge left of the decoration and ends on the base as can be seen in the photos. Otherwise, it appears to be in surprisingly good shape. The only other flaws are in the making glaze pops as can be seen in the photos, one just above the g in general(with a bit of cobalt glaze over it) and then there's one on the interior and two on the back side(each about 1/4 inch across) and some minor imperfections, scratches and wear as to be expected with a utilitarian stoneware piece. It has subtle ribbing the whole length of jug and varying colors of cobalt blues and some brown as well. Found in early homestead in Putnum county Virginia. Jug is peppered throughout and has blue rings around top and bottom. Near mint condition no chips. Cracks, hairlines or repairs. measures 14" tall 8" at widest point and 5" across bottom and holds 2 gallons. Has manufacturers hole near bottom(see pic) and was probably corked. Primitive Antique Stoneware Crock Old estate find in New England. This is a nice oval Shaped Stoneware Crock with blue cobalt decoration. Two applied handles at the sides and early glaze. The jug is in very good condition and nicely decorated on both sides and on the handles. There are some slight glazing flaws and marks from when it was made. 800x600 We are offering a very nice antique salt glaze stoneware crock with cobalt blue decoration in a hard to find size. It measures approximately 7 ¼” tall with a 4 ½” diameter. The crock does have old rim chips: One approximately ½” Two about ¼” each Tiny nicks to small to measure or see in a picture. The yellow area is in the glaze. The bottom has a few rough spots but no chips. The body has several glaze bubbles and manufacturer’s imperfections that are normal for stoneware of this age. This is a wonderful example of early salt glaze pottery for your collection. The crock will be double boxed and insured. Please ask questions. We describe our items to the best of our ability. Stoneware Butter Crock Cobalt Blue Decorated Maybe Remmy or Baltimore
This butter or cake crock stands 4 1/2 x 8 1/2" wide. It has a great cobalt design and is a great smaller size. Also has some great decoration around the larger lug handles. My guess is it was made in Philadelphia by Remmey around 1880. The one flaw is the 3 1/2" crack and does have some minor chips which have been colored by the previous owner. Hard to get these butter crocks and this one would display just fine. Buyer to pay $15 shipping.

Awesome Looking Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock with Handles: Cobalt Blue Decorated
PLEASE NOTE: I am not an expert on this kind of item. I Found it in my Grandfather's Collection. It was stored in his attic for years. It could be an Old Pennsylvania Dutch Crock. Or something else. I Know it is Dark Grey in color with an Awesome Cobalt Blue Design. It has handles, and I t appears to me that it was hand-spun on a wheel(Due to"ring marks seen inside) On the outside. It has an"I" with dots around it. I think it stands for the Roman Numeral: One. It has some marking inside that looks almost like a"chicken foot" or"upside-down peace sign" Not sure what it is. Please view all 12 of the pictures for more details on its condition. It does have a crack-line that runs down the side of it(can also see it on the inside) But it doesn't seem to hurt its appearance much in my opinion. The Crock ... morefelt sturdy as I moved it in different positions for photographing. This crock looks like it has been kept in very great condition overall, except for some"wear" I believe it is"antique" and because of that it isn't 100% Perfect. Handles are a little"wavy" on the edges of them. But they look like it might have been how they made it, not 100% sure though. I rubbed it with my finger and it felt smooth to me. I cleaned the Crock before listing it. Please use your own judgement as you view the 12 pictures I uploaded as I am not an expert on this item. It measures 12 1/2 inches in height 7 1/2 inches across the top, 9 inches ear to ear and 7 inches across the base. NO APOLOGIES. This is one of the heaviest 2 gallon pieces that I have seen.
