6 Gallon Crock Western Stoneware Co Maple Leaf #6 BLEMISHES, INTACT FANTASTIC!!
This auctin is for a Vintage 6 Gallon Western Stoneware Crock. Has the maple leaf and the number 6 on the front in blue. This has blemishes and hair line fractures but is intact. I hope the pictures help you. Someone placed a piece of tape along the bottom, I started to remove it but will let you finish. It has two chipped areas along the bottom, top is not chipped. As mentioned there are spider veins or hair line fractures going through it, but no daylight cracks or breaks. Stands right at 13.5" tall and the top diameter is right at 12.75" wide. This is a really pretty piece, great to add to a collection. If you are in driving distance this can be picked up. Coming from a smoke and pet free home. Good luck and happy bidding!

Vintage Stoneware Six Gallon Salt Glaze Crock with Stenciled 6 and Decor
For your consideration is a salt glazed six gallon crock. I am not sure what company manufactured this crock. However there are some clues that could help: It is yellow(or at least I think it would be if properly cleaned) The 6 and th decor around it were stenciled on. The decor around the 6 has an outside diameter of approximately 2" The crock is hand turned. There is a sigle trim line, running not more than 1/8 of inch below the rounded rim and another single trim line approximately 1 1/4" below the rim. This crock stands approximately 13 1/2" tall and the bottom is approximately 12" in diameter. This crock is very stable, but has the following imperfections: In the front and running downward into the decor circle, is a very tight hairline approximately 4" long. Closer to the right handle, than the front is a three ... morehailine"crow's foot" each of the three hairlines are between 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" long and all three are very tight. On each handle, are minor to insignifcant chips. On the backsideare some places where the glaze is missing. This crock is basically in"as found condition; all I did was wipe the dust off. Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description. Check out my as I combine shipping when practical. This saves the buyer money. OLD RED WING 15 GALLON BIG 6" WING PRE-1915 CROCK STONEWARE POTTERY GAL JUG JAR
F or your consideration is a Red Wing crock. Pre 1915, which is this one is clearly before the handle patent. These big wing crocks are getting tougher to acquire. This one is crack and damage repair free, but does show some bottom edge chippers in pics# 10& 12. Number 11 shows a factory clay dimple. Always allow for stoneware glaze skips. And glaze runs which are possible. This one does have a noticeable skip by the"5" Piece rings very well. The block letters are unique also as this changed shortly after this period also. Antique Butter Churn Stoneware 6 gallon Catawba NC Two Style Handle Rare 18'5"
Up for auction is this rare and complete Catawba Valley butter churn in excellent condition. It is the largest size made and few still exist so its quite a fine piece of history. Catawba pottery is famous for the alkaline stoneware made from the river valley of western North Carolina. Has number 6 imbedded below handle and comes with churn lid and wooden dasher. This also tells me with the style and location of the number that it is a Reinhardt piece. Another tell tale sign its a Reinhardt is the ribbing or rings that you can see and feel going around the base of churn. I captured that in the 6th picture on the inside. I couldnt get a good picture of the ribbing on the outside but it is noticable and adds more character. The handles are of two styles. One of a pig ear or lug. The other is a large loop handle. This style of churn handle was ... moredeveloped to make carrying such a large churn easier. The bottom of lid has a one inch chip/crack that was done prior to glaze and firing so its a mfg default. Its the way it was made, not at all noticable(I felt it before I saw it) but please see picture for reference. The small crack/chip is filled with glaze and is nice and smooth. Measures 18.5" tall with lid on. Top rim measures almost 10" across. Bottom measures 10.25" across. The middle is a bit wider than both top and bottom but difficult to get accurate dimention. Handle to handle is 13" I took pictures outdoors. Just want to be sure you get to see accurate pictures and colors. Also the 41" dash has a crack in the bottom portion of the wood handle. Would not be seen when inside churn. Churn alone weighs 26lbs. It will be shipped carefully with foam ect and have listed it at 30lbs for packing/box weight. The dash will have to be shipped separate and would be around $15.00 extra. I will refund any shipping costs over my cost for materials. I get boxes free, but nothing else. Antique 6 Gallon Cobalt Floral Pattern Stoneware Crock/Churn - 1870's California
Offered for your bidding consideration is an antique stoneware crock. This piece was found in the cellar of a 1870's Stockton. CA home which was the site of a working vineyard and orchard during that time period. We are not sure of the true origins of this crock. Stockton was and still is a major inland port. Ag, dry goods, metals, timber and people came to and from Stockton by ship and boat via the San Joaquin Delta system from the San Francisco Bay in the 1800's. So it is certainly likely this piece could have made a long journey before arriving in Stockton. There were artisans in Stockton during the 1800's producing earthenware and glass goods. A good example of early pottery from these area may be found by seaching for"Stockton Art Pottery" online. Antique 6 Gallon Stoneware Crock, F. Woodworth Burlington VT.
Up for auction is a very nice F. Woodworth. Burlington VT. antique 6 gallon crock. The crock is in very good condition, with 1 chip on the very back rim of the crock(see Photo# 5& 6) The Chip is 1 inch long at its widest point and is not noticeable when the crock is being displayed. There is another small chip that I believe happened during the firing 140 years ago, this chip has the original glaze over it. I can't find any other cracks or chips at all. The blue design is of a stylized flower, very nice dark color. I believe that the crock dates back to the 1870's or 1880's. The crock is very heavy weighing in at just under 23 pounds, it stands 13 1/2" tall and 13 1/2" across the top. Antique Stoneware Alkaline Crock Churn 6 gallon Early 1900's
Up for auction is a fantastic six gallon. Gray alkaline glaze churn made I discovered in the back of an old barn where it had probably been sitting for over 100 years. Although most people would call this a crock, it is actually a churn. When found, it had a top with a hole in the middle, but it was broken in half lying inside it, and has since been thrown away. The churn is 18.5 inches tall and 12 inches in diameter at it's widest point. It weighs 22.4 pounds. It has an alkaline glaze on both the inside an outside. This piece was wheel thrown and the lines from the wheel are visible; there are very prominent lines on the inside. It has an applied loop handle with fingerprint depressions near the base of the handle where it was pressed to the body of the piece. Just to the right of the handle is the number 6, which indicates it's ... morecapacity of six gallons. The bottom has lines from the cut off wire, used to remove the piece from the wheel. I don't know anything about pottery so I called gentleman who is well known for buying and selling Alabama Pottery; with many years of experience he is great at identifying the pottery. After examining my photos he informed me that my churn is Ohio Pottery from the late 1800's to early 1900's. I uploaded lots of photos so that you can examine every detail for yourself to verify the item's description. Quality and authenticity. This crock is in excellent condition. There are very few chips and cracks in the pottery; no major ones anywhere. The largest are on the bottom so you can't see them when the crock is upright. It is watertight. The glaze is crazed but that is to be expected with old glaze and gives it a charming crackle glaze look; it is still beautiful and shiny. The churn is watertight. Around the bottom is where too much glaze was applied and dripped dry. Overall the crock is just beautiful and a fine example of the stoneware crocks and churns of the era. I do not know the maker of this lid. But the lid is in mint condition from what I can tell. Pennsylvania, July 2, 1829, and he died in Parkersburg in 1899. It is thought that he learned his trade in the Monongahela Valley in Pennsylvania, at a owned by an uncle. He came to Parkersburg in 1870 and began a pottery operation there in 1874. Donaghho crocks and other items of pottery are avidly collected today. Probably working with a few employees. ... moreDonaghho made pottery by hand, throwing’ it on a potter’s wheel just as it had been for hundreds of years. The majority of his ware had a generally cylindrical shape with slightly bulging sides. Virtually all of the crocks or wide-mouth pots featured a bold top molding and two ear handles on the shoulder below the rim. Jugs had a small top opening for a plug and a one-ring handle. Pottery canning jars usually had no handles but had a deep groove in the rim for the wax seal. The ware was dried in a steam-heated room. After which it was stenciled with cobalt oxide. The pots were marked‘A. P. Donaghho, or‘Excelsior Pottery’ on big pieces, and‘Parkersburg. Many were decorated with advertisements for retail establishments. When thoroughly dry, the ware was placed in a bottle kiln to be fired. Donaghho pottery was salt-glazed. With damp salt reacting in the hot kiln to produce a sodium aluminum silicate glaze.

An antique blue decorated stoneware crock which is stamped"1-1/2" gallon on the front. There is no maker's mark or stamp. The crock is approximately 6-3/8" tall and 9-7/8" wide across the top. The blue decoration is in a beautiful state of repair with virtually no wear. There is a large chip to the rim right of center on the side. Measuring nearly 2.25" in length. There is also a hairline on the back of the piece, which starts at the rim and extends about 4" downward. There are virtually no other problems- just some discoloration and the typical glaze skips/tiny dings. Please view the images for condition details. It is a 6 gallon crock made by the Western Stoneware Co. which formed in 1906 in Monmouth. IL. It has a maple leaf on the front designed due to the fact that Monmouth, IL had many Maple trees. A great utilitarian piece for collectors of antique stoneware. Condition: This item is antique and shows some signs of wear. The crock has some minor flea bites and hairlines mostly near the base. There is some discoloration underneath the back rim of the item. There are some factory imperfection bumps on the crock. Excellent Antique 6 Gallon Red Wing Union Stoneware Crock w/ Bail Handles 1915
This is an excellent antique Red Wing stoneware crock with 4" wing. Union oval, and nice bail handles. There are no cracks or chips, the glaze looks very good, and it is clean inside and out. The wire on the handles has some surface rust and the wood pieces have very light wear, but the black paint is almost 100% complete. There are some factory flaws(fingerprints in the stoneware and glaze) and there are a few light scratches and scuffs, but it is nearly perfect. It measures about 12 1/2" in diameter x 15 1/2" H. It will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

It is in very good condition. The glaze is a little sparse on the bottom edge where it did not completely fill out on the bottom edge from the manufacture. It is in very good to excellent condition considering the age and what it was used for. It will make a great addition to any collection. Antique Hand Turned 6 Gallon Red Wing Birch Leaf Ski Oval Stoneware Crock
This is an antique hand-turned 6 gallon Red Wing stoneware crock with cobalt blue markings including birch leaves and a ski oval. The crock has some wonderfully obvious turn lines on the inside surface from the middle of the bottom all the way up to the top edge. It is in good condition with some minor damage; there is one small chip on the inside and one small chip on the outside of the top edge(both on the side) one tiny flake on the bottom edge. And a very faint crow's foot, shown in the photos. There are some minor scuffs and scratches and a little dirty residue elsewhere, but it looks fantastic overall and would display nicely.
