Antique New York Stoneware Blue Flower Salt Glazed 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock
Up for auction is an Antique New York Stoneware Deep Blue Flower Design 4 Gallon Crock. The New York Stoneware Co and the number 4 is impressed. The flower design is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider ... morehairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. Stoneware was once an almost universal material in American homes. The versatile. Nonporous ceramic made ideal containers of all kinds, including the ubiquitous stoneware crock. Stoneware is made of gray and tan clays fired to a high temperature. As there were few American producers prior to 1800, most existing antique stoneware crocks date from the 19th century. Up for auction today is a rare Red Wing Salt Gla zed Crock 4 gallon Bee sting mark Absolutely wonderful for this p ie ce being over 100 years old. Made be tween 1877-1 897-has the bee sting or to rnado sty le mark with hand pressed or hand molded handles(elephant ear-I think is what they call that) Red Wing stop ped using the Salt Glaze Process in 1897. So this dates before that. One handle is broken-more like chipped- as shown in the pictures. Other than that. The molted or dimpled glazing is in g reat condition with some marks. As can be seen. There is a white mark that is shown in the pictures-th at is the remains of the sticker from the ant ique store we are closing. Easily can be removed. Other than the handle. Antique 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock A. K. Ballard 1850-1870 This Antique 4 Gallon Glazed Crock has an unusual floral decoration in cobalt blue across the front. It is approximately 11 3/4 inches high and is about 11 1/2 inches across in diameter. Stamped at the top with: A. K. Ballard. Burlington, VT. Alfred K. Ballard used this maker's mark between 1867 and 1874. It also has the number 4 stamped on the front, just under the maker's mark, indicating the 4 gallon size. This Antique Crock is in good condition for it's age. It does have some places where the glaze has come off probably due to bumping throught the years. the biggest place measures 3 1/2" x 4" in the back) in the back.Along the rim, and on the handles. For sale is an Antique Pickle or Kraut Jug 4/5 Gallon with a Wide Mouth. This is a piece of North Carolina Stoneware circa 1900 made for domestic use. The jug is 8" tall and 5.75" in diameter at the base. It is 2.75" at the opening. The jug is in good antique condition with no real chips and only manufacturing flaws and related ageing defects. The jug still holds water. There are markings on the base but they are indistinguishable either from wear or age. Please examine the photos carefully. Offered is this vintage or antique 4-gallon almost-white crock. The crock is marked with a blue"4" inside of a star inside of a circle. It originally had a handle and lid but these are no longer present. The crock measures just over 15" high and is about 9 1/2" wide across the top. It is in very good condition. With no cracks and only a couple of very minor rim chips. There are also a couple of very small areas that look like they were never glazed. As you might imagine this is a very heavy item. Cracks, and or repairs. There is 1 very small rough spot on the top rim, 2 small brown glaze misses on the inside, and minor staining and manufactured roughness. What you are viewing is an original antique 3-4 gallon(I Think) Stoneware crock with applied handles and a wonderful blue bee sting decoration on the front. Piece is in great shape for its age with some wear and aging to contend with as well as one 6in crack starting from the top. Piece has nice clean handles and crack is in the back of the piece so it won't detract much in display. Piece measures 9in X 8 3/4in X 13 3/4in and is a nice displayable size but once again, I am not sure about the gallon size. The piece is marked: EAST INDIA Rum. It has the numbers/letters: S72. The crock has a nice imperial crown on the face. This crock is missing its lid. It does have a wood pour spout. Antique Robinson Ransbottom 4 Gallon Blue Crown Stoneware Water Crock w/ Spigot
This is a very nice vintage crock made Robinson-Ransbottom sometime during the mid-1900's. The company initially started producing from The Ransbottom Brothers Pottery in 1900. The pottery shop was the largest stoneware producer in the world at the time and was sold to The Robinson Clay Products Company in 1919. Together as Robinson-Ransbottom they produced stoneware with the blue crown logo. And some marks show“RRP” in the crown. Others have a number inside the crown, which indicates the size of the crock or bowl. This four-gallon crock measures about 11" across and 14" tall. The piece is decorated with royal blue stripes which give it a beautifully rich aesthetic. There is wonderful detail in the glaze, so please view the pictures carefully for paint and condition details. I've seen many crocks with one or two blue stripes, ... morebut this seems to be a unique design. Sure to complete your decor.

Pennsylvania, July 2, 1829, and he died in Parkersburg in 1899. It is thought that he learned his trade in the Monongahela Valley in Pennsylvania, at a owned by an uncle. He came to Parkersburg in 1870 and began a pottery operation there in 1874. Donaghho crocks and other items of pottery are avidly collected today. Probably ... moreworking with a few employees. Donaghho made pottery by hand, throwing’ it on a potter’s wheel just as it had been for hundreds of years. The majority of his ware had a generally cylindrical shape with slightly bulging sides. Virtually all of the crocks or wide-mouth pots featured a bold top molding and two ear handles on the shoulder below the rim. Jugs had a small top opening for a plug and a one-ring handle. Pottery canning jars usually had no handles but had a deep groove in the rim for the wax seal. The ware was dried in a steam-heated room. After which it was stenciled with cobalt oxide. The pots were marked‘A. P. Donaghho, or‘Excelsior Pottery’ on big pieces, and‘Parkersburg. Many were decorated with advertisements for retail establishments. When thoroughly dry, the ware was placed in a bottle kiln to be fired. Donaghho pottery was salt-glazed. With damp salt reacting in the hot kiln to produce a sodium aluminum silicate glaze. Red Wing Buckeye Western??? Unmarked 4 Gallon Crock Lid
This lid is unmarked. As can be seen in the pics it does have a piece missing. Other than that it is very good condition. The lid measures approx. 12 inches from rim to rim. The inside underneath rim measures 9 inches. The missing piece at the widest part is 2 inches and at the smallest is about 3/4 inch. It appears to be a red clay. And is very heavy. Please look at the pictures closely.

4 Gallon Crock Stoneware Buckeye Pottery marked as a (Blue Ribbon Brand)
There is one small round hole on the front of the crock. Which is about 1" in diameter, and one crack on the side which is about 6"s long, and one 3 1/2" crack at the top! None of these are all the way through. The overall size of this crock is: Base: 8 1/2" diameter, Height: 15" tall, 13" Inside Depth, Mouth 8" diameter, 21lb Weight by itself. The imperfections described above are not apparent in the photo's featured. But they are there! The extra weight shown in the shipping is added to verify packing and shipping materials.

Crock is 16" tall. And 10 inches diameter. Solid 1/2 inch thick. Weighs a SOLID 18 lbs. Has original lid and 30" dowel. Nice shine, NO chips on the crock, small chip on the lid. We are listing for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Decorated Baltimore Maryland 1 Gallon Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with 2 chips at the base that are covered with saltglaze& a very slight very tight surface line on the inside of the top rim that extends down approximately 3/4" and is covered with saltglaze. There is manufactured roughness and a saltglaze drip line. These issues all happened during the making of this crock. There are no other chips. Cracks, and or repairs. The crock measures 10 1/4" tall x 6 1/4" at the top rim x 6" at the base and weighs approximately 5lb 4oz. For sale is a 4 gallon crock from Elverson. Sherwood and Barker of New Brighton, Pa. It is approx 12" tall and 11" across in diameter. It is marked E S& B. In gold color. The color of the crock is dark brown which is rare since most of their crocks were tan with blue lettering. It has no chips on crock or the two handles, buy it has a hairline crack next to the B and is about 7" long and about 2 inch on the bottom It is in good condition and displays nicely. Vintage Stoneware Crock - Jar - 9 3/4" - 1 Gallon
This is for a Vintage Ceramic Crock- Jar- 1 Gallon Unmarked Stoneware Jug. In good condition with no lid and a small chip on the side edge. The photo of the bottom is not a chip but looks sort of like a vintage patch from the factory and normal flaws for vintage items.
