Antique Blue White Salt Glaze Stoneware Large Milk Crock Bail Bowl RARE! Minty!
In the years that I have owned this bowl I have never seen another one. The best I can tell from my internet research and consulting the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This is an Apple Blossom on diamond waffle patterned salt glazed stoneware milk crock. It is missing the bail. Aside from that, this piece is near mint. There is a imperfection in one of the bail ears that appears it may have occurred during the firing process because it looks glazed over. No other cracks, no chips. It measures 10" across(or just under 11.5" from bail ear to ear) 5" high and 6" wide across the base. Milk crocks this size in other patterns are in the book. The molding on this is very sharp and crisp. The apple blossom on diamond waffle is shown on other pieces such as butter and salt crocks, however I cannot find this ... morepattern on this bowl anywhere. Antique Blue White Salt Glaze Stoneware Yellow Ware Daisy Trellis Butter Crock
As identified in the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This auction is for a common pattern Daisy And Trellis Butter Holder. It measures 6" wide by 4.75 tall. Mint value $125- $175. There are six large daisies on a close trellis background. This is missing a lid and a bail which it held at one time. Bail holes for this mold were not made to go through to the interior. There is one fine hairline crack on the interior of bail hole placement that extends from top down approx 2.75" it is not visible on outside surface. Antique Blue & White Spongeware Spatterware Stoneware Bowl with Bail Handle
This bowl is wonderful. The color is a deep blue and the blue is flowing. There is a small chip on the bottom of the rim and a surface crack on the bottom of the extension where the bail handle is attached. There is also a surface crack that runs the width of the rim and an inch down the bowl. It looks like it was there from firing. It has not gone thru the side of the bowl. You can't even see evidence of it when you look at the top of the rim so it is not deep. On the bottom outside of the bowl is an impression of a star. It is in the pottery itself. This is not a repo.

F or your consideration… Vintage Stoneware Salt Box Cellar Glaze Crock in a Blue/White/Gray Color with Embossed Fruit Medallions on the sides and the word SALT across the front in a banner style. There is hole on the top of the back for hanging. No lid. The crock is 5 7/8” across and 4” high on the lower side and 5 ¾” high to the top of the hanging side. The embossed fruit with leaves looks to be either cherries or apricots. There are no maker marks that I can find. It’s heavy. Condition: Very good vintage. There is a chip along the top rim. Glaze pops and misses common to this type of pottery. Glaze misses that are worth noting can be seen in pics along bottom blue band. They are still common type and don't detract. This auction is for an Antique. Primitive, Blue& White Stoneware Butter Crock. The bottom half is white, while the top half and inside has a soft blue color. This is 5.75" diameter and 3.75" tall, making it very displayable on a country kitchen counter or step back cupboard shelf. The butter crock was the normal means of buying butter in the early 1900's. And this is one of the more decorative colors. This is near perfect no cracks. The piece has blue paint over gray stoneware and has milk cows in low relief alongside the word. Butter, which appears on each side. The crock is 7-1/8" in diameter and 5" tall. The inside of the lid has some loss of glaze and crazing. The exterior of the lid also has crazing. There is a hairline to the base that seems to start near the base ring and extend up the side of the piece about 2" or so. All this is common for pieces of this age and type. Large and heavy antique brown and white stoneware crock. Measures 13" tall and 12" wide and stamped with a blue crown symbol"5" which I believe means it is a 5 gallon crock. I believe it was made by Ransbottom but that is just an educated guess. It is in very nice condition except for a small chip on the top of the rim(see photos) There are no cracks or repairs, however there is a crack in the glaze inside the bottom which appears to have happened during the firing process, presumably from the glaze being applied too heavily.it is not a crack in the pottery itself. The crock is signed on the bottom: Burley-Winter Pot'y Co. Crooksville. Ohio. The pattern on the diffused blue and white crock may be what is called Reverse Pyramids& Columns. This is an uncommon pattern that is rare to find. The crock is 5 3/4" across the top(bowl walls are about 3/8” thick) and about 3 3/4" high. It weighs over 2 pounds and to the very top of the crock it holds 32 liquid ounces or about 2 pounds of butter. This antique Burley-Winter stoneware crock is in very good condition. This butter crock is perfect on the inside but it has some manufacture flaws and 3 small dings on the outside. On the lower-base edge there is a 3/4" chip. On opposite sides of the upper band there is a decorative circle with a dimple in the center but no holes for a bail handle. Please check all the photos before bidding. The jug has an intricate and unusual bird design on the front in cobalt blue. Above the design is"3 White's Utica" in matching cobalt blue lettering. The jug has a natural grey coloration and is finished with a smooth glaze. A small handle is on the side of the crock for easy carrying. Dates to the 1860s-70s. This nice stoneware jug would make a great addition to any stoneware or antique jug collection! There is surface chipping in the design and another surface chip is to the left of the design. Excellent antique blue & white stoneware yellowware butter crock w/ lid aafa
I have for auction this outstanding antique stoneware yellowware butter crock with the original lid. This piece would date from the late 1800's- early 1900's. The crock remains in amazing condition for its age. With one shallow glaze flake along the base edge, shown in the photo. It feels smooth, so could possibly have been done in the making. There are also some lines on the lid that occurred in the firing process. Pieces like this are quite porous so such flaws were common. Otherwise the piece remains in excellent condition. This auction is for an antique Blue White Stoneware Butter Crock Made by Burley and Winter of Crooksville. Ohio it has their early heart shaped backstamp/ mark on the base It probably dates from the 1880-1890 era Burley and Winter started in 1872 and ceased production in the mid 1930s.
