Antique Stoneware Blue Advertising Lambrecht Butter 12 Cent Crock
This advertising piece of stoneware has a lovely ivory color with cobalt blue writing. A great bowl to keep keys and your wallet in or use in the kitchen. It is advertising Lambrecht Butter made in New Jersey and has a 12 cent deposit. Has no chips or cracks that were not original flaws in the making. There is a three veined crack at one of the 12 cent deposits area where the blue ink has flowed into. But then again this was done in the making. It holds 1 1/2 cups so it can be used as a measure. It is a 2 quart jar. no marking found. Around the lip of the top of the jar are two spider type cracks. Here we have a beautiful stoneware jug made by Jacob Fisher of Lyons NY. Jugs and Crocks under this stamp were roughly circa.1878-1902. This jug advertises"Fee Bro's" Which is Fee Brothers, in business in Rochester NY since 1863 and still in business today. At the time this crock was made Fee Brothers dealt in wines and liquors and operated near the Genesee River in Rochester. Today they make cocktail mixes,syrups,and concentrates. 2 gallon R. Shrum Greensburgh. Pennsylvania stoneware crock. No hairlines or cracks, it is greasy with a whitish mineral deposit in one area. The grease areas show as lines in the jar so don't think it's cracked. Needs soaked and cleaned. Nice mix of freehand and stencil. Good contrast between the blue and grey. I failed to mention, there is some spotty roughness on the underside edge of the rim. Ask any questions.
