But slightly oblong in shape and the clay is slightly lumpy) 19th century 3 gallon salt ... moreglazed crock with bold cobalt leaf designs. It is sturdy, solid, and has a molded handle both sides. Due to age, the color of the clay has a slightly patchy appearance from discoloration. One of the handles has a few small flakes, but there are no other chips on the crock. There are three short cracks on the top edge that don't go all the way through the clay and look like they might be splits from firing. One very fine unnoticeable hairline on the top edge is slightly visible inside and out and is probably a true hairline from damage, but it is very difficult to see. All cracks are shown in the photos. There are two yellow streaks in the glaze on the front, also shown in the photos. They are part of the glaze and happened during manufacture. The crock measures 11" in diameter x 10 3/4" H. It will be packed securely in a double box and insured during shipping.

Rare Primitive Stamped 3 Gallon Crock Antique Salt Glazed Crock W Cobalt -Fisher
Unique hand painted three gallon salt glazed crock with beautiful cobalt blue markings. This is one from my personal collection that I need to whittle down a little bit. Its absolutely beautiful! The cobalt blue flower and number three richly stand out. The front of the crock is STAMPED"J FISHER LYONS NY" and was made sometime between 1872 and 1902. It measures 9 3/4" tall and 11" wide not including the handles. There are two cracks on the back that are pictured. Since they are on the back they do not affect the ability to display this piece. VERY RARE 1 1/2 gallon Cobalt Blue Salt Glazed Crock Turkey Drop Unusual shape !
This auction is for a very rare 1 1/2 gallon salt glaize crock that has many production defects and a very unusual size making this crock a great addition to any collection. The crock displays very nicely. Then you look at it with a close examining eye you start to notice the manufactoring errors. The top or mouth measures 7 1/2" across on direction and 8" across in the opposite E-W N-S. The pattern lines around the top are not complete all the way around the crock. Unevenness throughout the clay suffaces, Not from damage, but when it was produced. Last photo shows the size next to 3 or my# 2 crocks. ONLY the 1 1/2 crock is for sale. Antique salt glazed stoneware 2 gallon crock with Albany Slip inside. Exterior is an oatmeal color with a large cobalt blue 3 petal flower and leaves. Marking incised at the top front is J. Fisher and Lyons(place) There is a soft hairline 7 1/2 inches long from the top rim past the right ear that is surface and does not transfer to the inside and does not hurt the integrity of this fine piece of early Americana. Rare Early Primitive 2 Gallon Red Clay Salt Glazed Crock w/ Cobalt Flowers
This is a fantastic rare early salt glazed crock with thick. Bold, cobalt blue markings. It would be a beautiful display piece with absolutely no chips and no cracks visible from the front, although there are some hairlines along the sides and back that I will detail below. There are two crows feet hairlines(one on each side, close to the handles) and three straight hairlines along the back(one coming up from the bottom edge that also spreads a couple inches into the bottom, and two coming down from the top edge) All damage is visible in the photos. It looks fantastic from the front. There are two molded handles on the sides and the inside is glazed brown. It will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

It has a 2" very thin surface glaze hairline coming off the rim on the inside. Several pitted spots in the clay around the outside of the bowl, which probably originated when the bowl was originally fired, some glaze nicks and some original glaze flaws. The bowl is a bit dingy and the inside is stained and yellowed from age and use, which only adds character to the piece and is the reason I love old pieces like this! Beautiful stoneware cake crock WITH lid. The cobalt is beautiful on this. 10 3/4" by 10 3/4" 6" tall This has had it's share of use and does have some issues. Chips. Some large, and a crack on one side going down onto the bottom of the crock and also running sideways off of it. See 4th pic. chips and thin tight cracks on lid. The lid was on this when I purchased this several years ago and I am assuming it is the original.it fits. Old metal wire band around crock apparently stabilizing it. This is a rare 19th century 5 gallon salt glazed crock with cobalt blue leaf design. Possibly Red Wing. The markings are bold and the glaze is shiny and even. There are a few small chips along the inside of the top edge, one on the bottom of one of the handles, and a tiny one on the back of the bottom edge. There is a hairline that runs down one side next to a small crow's foot. None of the damage is visible from the front, and it still looks fantastic. It would make an excellent display piece! It will be packed well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Antique Salt Glazed#4 Stoneware Butter or Cake Crock with Raised Floral design and textured surface. It does not have Lid or Bale Handle. It measures about 8" in diameter by 5-1/4" high. The crock has old chips on inner lip but a lid would still rest on top if you could find the right size. There are also imperfections on bottom that were probably done in the making. Bursts splits while firing. Also has crazing. The bottom of crock may clean up nicely, I have not cleaned it. Any questions please ask before end of auction.

Salt Glazed Crock, Cobalt Blue, L. & B. G., CHACE, Somerset, MA, c. 1850, AAFA
Up for sale is this very early two-handled salt-glazed crock with a cobalt blue leaf design. Over 160 years old. It is stamped L. B. G. CHACE, SOMERSET, and the letters are enhanced with cobalt blue as well as the ends of the handles. The crock dates to some time between 1847 and 1856, and was made in the Pottersville area of Somerset, Mass. a community on the river south of Taunton. Around 1847, Asa Chaces' grandsons, Benjamin G. Clark and Leonard built a stoneware kiln on the family lot and incorporated as Somerset Potters' Works. The interior of the crock has an Albany type slip glaze, and there are 2 incised lines surrounding a decorative deep groove that circles the crock toward the top. The handles are excellent and very solid, and the overall condition is very good and solid, with only one old rim chip and an old tight hairline. ... moreSee last two photos. Unique Vintage Salt Glazed Crock Jar Pot w/ Lid and Cobalt Numbers SIGNED
Up for auction is a very unique vintage stoneware or clay crock/jar/pot. Has original lid. It appears to be salt glazed and has the number'11' in cobalt blue. It appears to be hand crafted. It measures 13" in diameter and 10" high. It is signed on the bottom but I can't make out the maker. There may be some chips on the base but I can't tell if it was in the making of the jar. This is really a unique piece of pottery.

Antique Primitive 19th c 3 Gallon Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock Cobalt Leaf Design
This is a very old and primitive-looking(not perfectly round. But slightly oblong in shape and the clay is slightly lumpy) 19th century 3 gallon salt glazed crock with bold cobalt leaf designs. It is sturdy, solid, and has a molded handle both sides. Due to age, the color of the clay has a slightly patchy appearance from discoloration. One of the handles has a few small flakes, but there are no other chips on the crock. There are three short cracks on the top edge that don't go all the way through the clay and look like they might be splits from firing. One very fine unnoticeable hairline on the top edge is slightly visible inside and out and is probably a true hairline from damage, but it is very difficult to see. All cracks are shown in the photos. There are two yellow streaks in the glaze on the front, also shown in the photos. They ... moreare part of the glaze and happened during manufacture. The crock measures 11" in diameter x 10 3/4" H. It will be packed securely in a double box and insured during shipping.

Awesome Looking Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock or Butter Churn ? Cobalt Blue Design
PLEASE NOTE: I am not an expert on this kind of item. I Found it in my Grandfather's Collection. It was stored in his attic for years. It could be an Old Pennsylvania Dutch Crock. Butter Churn, or something else. I Know it is Grey in color with an Awesome Cobalt Blue Design. It has handles. On the outside. It has an"I" with dots around it. I think it stands for the Roman Numeral: One but not 100% sure. It has some marking etched inside that looks almost like a"chicken foot" Not sure what it is. Please view all 12 of the pictures for more details on its condition. It does have a crack-line that runs down the side of it(can also see it on the inside) But it doesn't seem to hurt its appearance much in my opinion. The Crock felt sturdy as I moved it in different positions for photographing. This crock looks like it ... morehas been kept in very great condition overall. Except for some"wear" I believe it is"antique" and because of that it isn't 100% Perfect. Handles are a little"wavy" on the edges of them. But when I rubbed it with my finger it felt smooth to me. BOLD Antique Primitive 4 Gallon Salt Glazed Crock Cobalt Flower Decoration
This is an original antique 4 gallon salt glazed crock with beautiful BOLD cobalt blue flower design on the front that wraps around to the handles on the sides. The glaze is smooth. Shiny, and even and the crock is sturdy and solid overall, but there is some damage. There is a chip on the top inner rim, a hairline that runs halfway down the side from the rim, and splits into a short crow's foot, and some chips on the bottom edges of the handles. There is another very faint hairline on the other side that is difficult to see. The surface has some flea bites, shown in the photos. Regardless, it looks fantastic and would display nicely. It measures about 11" across x 12" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

XLNT RARE Antique Red Wing Salt Glazed 5 Gallon Cobalt Drop Lazy 8 Crock
This is a fantastic and rare antique 5 gallon salt glazed Red Wing stoneware crock with bold cobalt blue lazy 8 design. It is in very good to excellent condition with only minor flaking on the bottom edge of one of the handles and one crow's foot on the side. Shown close-up in the photos. The remainder of the crock is free of cracks and chips of any kind. The glaze is shiny and even, but there are some areas that are slightly darkened from age(typically found on older salt-glazed crocks. Antique Primitive Salt Glazed 2 Gallon Bachelder Stoneware Crock Cobalt Flower
Here is what looks like an unmarked 2 gallon Bachelder crock from Menasha. Wisconsin, salt glazed with a dark cobalt blue flower decoration. It has a fantastic primitive look and is an authentic 19th century piece. Although there is some damage, it displays beautifully. I've included close-ups of all areas of damage, including what looks like a possible repair on the side and three hairline cracks. There is only one small flake in the glaze on one of the handles. There are some scuffs and scratches, mainly on the inside and some mottling to the color of the clay visible on the outside. It measures 8 1/2" H x 9 1/4" W and will be packed securely and insured during shipping.
