Antique Blue White Salt Glaze Stoneware Large Milk Crock Bail Bowl RARE! Minty!
In the years that I have owned this bowl I have never seen another one. The best I can tell from my internet research and consulting the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This is an Apple Blossom on diamond waffle patterned salt glazed stoneware milk crock. It is missing the bail. Aside from that, this piece is near mint. There is a imperfection in one of the bail ears that appears it may have occurred during the firing process because it looks glazed over. No other cracks, no chips. It measures 10" across(or just under 11.5" from bail ear to ear) 5" high and 6" wide across the base. Milk crocks this size in other patterns are in the book. The molding on this is very sharp and crisp. The apple blossom on diamond waffle is shown on other pieces such as butter and salt crocks, however I cannot find this ... morepattern on this bowl anywhere. If you have ever seen one or have any information on this piece I would love to know more, please message me! Antique Milk Bowl/Crock Blue/White Stoneware Bail Handle w/Wooden Grip Outside of Bowl- Raised Double Square Pattern 4 Sunflowers on Sides Top Rim Solid Blue- Bottom Blue/White Blue Mark on Inside- Cannot Read 6" High 11" Top Diameter(12" Bail Lip to Bail Lip) This is a very interesting and very nice antique Milk Bowl with Bail Handle. The material is stoneware with a blue and white glaze(may be a salt glaze) The bail handle has a black wooden grip. The bottom has an impressed Star with 3 outer rings of a raised block look. The top ri. Is a solid blue and has a nice design on the bottom edge. The maker is unknown but the blue marks on the inside near the top were probably their marks. There are a couple chips on the top edge but they have been there awhile as they are very smooth and the one seems to have some ... moreglaze in it also. The biggest flaw is a crack in the bottom of the bowl going about 1/4 of the way around the bottom. This crack can also be seen on the outside(in pic) This is a great old piece of history and would have great visual appeal for a collection. Antique North Carolina NC Pottery Milk Crock Cream Rinser Catawba
This is for a Vintage North Carolina Pottery Cream Rinser Crock. It has an Outer Black Glaze and inside is a Brown Slip Glaze. It is made out if Red Clay and I can see small pieces of quartz on bottom. Also has 4 marks where it sit on some kind of stilts while being fired. It is In Great Condition with no cracks or major damage. There are a few tiny nicks to the outer rim and one flat chip about half the size of a dime that is not very deep. These could be glaze pops from when it was fired or imperfections In the clay. It measures 7" inches tall and is 9 3/4" inches wide at the top. Glaze still looks perfect. These were advertised as"Stewing Pans" or"Cooking Pans" because they came with iron bail handles with wood center grips. Which this one is lacking. The crock measures 5 inches in height and 10 inches across and was probably made in the latter part of the 1800's and begging of the 1900's. era. There is what appears to be a hairline crack on the inside of the bowl that does not extend out to the exterior. Uponn closer inspection it appears that it was part of the Kiln process. Up for auction we have this awesome original Western Stoneware crock with the original lid! This is a very heavy duty piece measuring 17.5" tall with the lid(16" tall without the lid) and approximately 12" wide. It is very heavy! This crock is in almost perfect condition with very minimal flaws. There are a few small chips along the rim which you can see in our pictures. LARGE STAR CROCK MILK BOWL BLUE GLAZE STONEWARE PATTERN 11 1/4''
I have had this crock a number of years and it is just too large for me to use. It is 11 1/4" across and 6 3/8" tall. It is rough on the outside with a lovely. Creamy blue inside. Originally it must have had a bale, but not since I have owned it. It is quite unusual. I have also included a photo of a rough place on the bottom. It is the last picture. I believe that this is not a flaw, but rather part of the manufacturing process. It is for you to decide as I am no expert.

Old Hansen's Laboratories Stoneware Jug Little Falls NY Dairy Milk Farm This would look great in any advertising collection! From the 1930's or before. From what information I can find on the internet the extract that was originally sold in this jug was used as an ingredient additive to dairy milk for making butter and cheese. Fair condition. No cracks. But a couple of bottom edge chips and about 4" of top edge roughness(see closeups) Blue stenciling is very clear for the age. The slanted brown area on top has an impressed"Ag" on it.
