Rockdale was a competitor of Rowe Pottery but Rowe won the market and Rockdale closed down in the late 1990's. This piece is decorated with a beautiful flower design on one side and a heart design on the other side with the words, Ray& Donna October 19. 1996" This piece is stamped, ROCKDALE UNION STONEWARE EDGERTON, WIS. 1996 ALWAYS HANDMADE. WARNER WEST TROY with a hollow Numeral"2" beneath indicating two allon capacity size in nice mid grey smooth patina with attractive country good looks. Snatched from a deaccessioned downsized collection of over 30 years in New York State just last week. This item is market fresh and never wandered far from its manufacture area and was found within 50 miles of where made, very local indeed. That's just how I like to find them for you as I know many collectors seek only local stonewares for their collection near to where they live. No cracks, hairlines, no rim chips, no stone pings, the clay was finely milled during manufacture and it really is evident is final quality of output from the Warner factory in upstate New York, near king in stoneware productions of all the states for fancy works as well as early forms for collectors. You will not be disappointed with this one, it is as fresh and perfect as one can find at affordable price on the market today. Vintage half gallon size stonewear jar in very good condition. This is an old and very beautiful piece. It once had a lid and a wire clasp. But those are long lost. It remains a stunning piece of pottery. Wonderful, rich color. High quality craftsmanship. Nothing cracked or broken. Some shelf wear on the bottom and couple of small chips on the lip and neck. This is a gorgeous Garden City Pottery Co Crock. From the factory in San Jose California. The factory started pottery production in 1902 and continued production until 1979. This lovely crock is one of the earlier pieces from this company and has no staining and very little wear. It has no cracks and no chips. The measurements are 13" tall and width is 9" Most have the smaller logo, but this one has the large logo which is hardly seen. A very nice quality crock.

This company was organized on February 1, 1893 and began operations in the spring of 1894. This crock has a tie ring; meaning that a cloth could be placed over the top and there is a groove around the top in which a string can be placed and tied to hold the cloth, which protects the contents from whatever. This piece of stoneware is 6 1/8" tall and the bottom is almost 5 5/8" in diameter. On the rim, are some chips, most of which are insignificant; around the bottom edge are more minor to insignificant chips. Antique/Vintage Coates Cider (United Kingdom) Salt Glazed Pottery 2 Gallon Crock
This is a really interesting 2 gallon English stoneware domed top cider jug with its original spigot from the famous Redvers Coate processing mill ca. 1940s. Here is the history of the company: Coates comes up from Somerset. Where the cider apples grow. Its more than 75 years since the famous Coates cider was first made in the village of Nailsea near Bristol- and a quarter of a century since of a century since production ended. For people living outside the West Country Coates cider meant cartoon yokels announcing in rich Wurzel accents that Coates comes up from Zummerset, where the zider apples grow in a TV commercial. It was an inspired marketing move, especially as the jingle was based on the popular We Come Up from Somerset by the great Portishead songwriter Fred Wetherley Coates did indeed come up from Somerset and it was Redvers Coate, ... morethe company founder who did as much as anyone to move Somerset cider from the fields and into the cities. By the end of the Great War, cider was in decline. In 1887, Parliament had banned the traditional practice of paying farmworkers in cider( two quarts a day) and the growth in French wine drinking was hitting sales hard. Coate, a graduate of Bristol University was looking for a job in 1924, a time when Gloucester, Devon and Herefordshire ciders were being nationally marketed but Somerset products were scarcely known outside the county. He knew little about cider making so worked unpaid for a year at the Long Ashton Cider Research Institute before borrowing enough from family, and friends to open a cider works at Nailsea. He was just 23 years of age. The staff comprised Coate, foreman Charlie Higgins from Williams Cider, Backwell; Cooper Sid Summers, cellar man Jack AlIsop, clerk( and later company secretary) Frank Matthews, Bill Baker and a man called Iles. Redvers Coate had installed the most up to date equipment in his one shed, including three glass lined vats holding 10,000 gallons each. Vintage half gallon size two color stoneware jar in very good condition. This is an old and very beautiful piece. It once had a lid and a wire clasp. But those are long lost. It remains a stunning piece of pottery. Wonderful, rich color. High quality craftsmanship. Nothing cracked or broken. Some shelf wear on the bottom and couple of small chips on the lip and neck. Nice old ceramic jar. 5 5/8" diameter base. 7 3/4" tall. 2 3/8" opening. A beautiful jar. Very nice crackling in the cream colored glazing. The top opening measures 6" in diameter and 4" inside diameter. I am not sure if the lid is actually meant for the crock. The lid itself has chips/hairline and rust. White paint stains on the body. Just need paint cleaning and polishing to show the original beauty of it. In great vintage condition with hairlines and a chip at the bottom due to its age and use over the years. Nice ceramic water jug/ crock from Marshall Pottery. The lid and water dispenser(spigot) are all intact. The jug holds water and the dispenser works fine although sometimes it sticks a little when trying to push in. Stands 12" high and the top is roughly 7 5/8 inches in diameter. There is an upside down U shape crease on the top. The spot is securely intact and doesn't move. But you would feel a little bit of a rise if you rub your finger across the spot. See picture. I don't know for sure when it was manufactured, but from other postings here, I gather that Ransbottom and Robinson-Ransbottom. made crocks like this early in the 20tieth century. It is approximately 9 inches high and 9 1/4 inches in diameter. It is heavy. You can pick it up locally to save on the shipping costs. This was obviously used. It is dirty both inside and out. Even after an attempt to clean it. There is some damage to the glaze under the 2 where the crazing is causing some minor flaking off. Please look at the pictures. Vintage 2 Gallon Marshall Pottery Hand Turned Water Cooler Wooden Spout & Lid
This is a very nice vintage pottery water cooler from Marshall Pottery of Marshall Texas. This water cooler was thrown by master potter Tommy Humphries. It is marked on the bottom with the Marshall name and signed by Tommy Humphries. It has a wooden spout and lid. The spout is removable and I did not try it to see if it leaks or has a good seal. The spout does fit snuggly and appears to have a good seal when it is inserted into the cooler. I believe that the cooler is a 2 gallon since it has the number 2 on the side. Vintage(Antique? 2 Gallon Crock Can't find a maker's mark on this one- and no similar styles on ebay or online elsewhere that I can find for the font of the number 2 to help identify. If you're a collector. Maybe you can help me! This crock is pretty condition. But you can tell it's old so there are some dings around the lip and such. Also staining at various places. Bottom shows some felt protective spots- wonder if something was once upon a time glued to those, or if they served a different purpose. You can see the pictures for yourself.
