It is very large being 59"inches in height. The arrow measures 47-1/2"inches. The horse and the pedestal balls are hollow. This weather vane will ship in two pieces in two boxes. WEATHER VANE: Antique Whale. Gilded Copper, 18" x 25" Beautiful Form& Patina This is a very handsome Weather Vane featuring a cheerful figure of a Whale which I acquired years ago in Gloucester. Massachusetts, which was for years the most important Whaling port on the East Coast. As he stands now on his wooden stand he is 18 inches tall and 25 inches long. He is full-bodied gilded copper. Much of the gilding has worn away reveling patches of old copper and verdigris creating a complex and beautiful patina. His surface is completely stable. With no flaking or chipping. All of his seams are tight and he seems to have escaped the indignity of being involved in target practice. He has no serious damage, but there are two small dings, one on each side just before his tail. This Whale is so beautifully made that. In addition to being ... morefine piece of Americana, it is, in itself, a wonderful piece of sculpture. And he still turns cheerfully on his supporting rod. WEATHER VANE: Abraham Lincoln Mounted on Old Bob. Copper Repoussé& Gilded. 17.5" Tall This is a great old figure which represents Abraham Lincoln mounted on his horse. Old Bob. The figure is made of copper repousee, gilded on one side, painted black on the other. I am not completely sure that this was once part of a Weather Vane. The figure is 17 1/2 inches tall. This is surely not a commercially produced piece. But rather a one-off work of a local craftsman. The likeness of Lincoln is much more appreciable in the photo of the back side, painted black. The gilding on the front distracts a little. As he is now on his wooden stand. This figure is 17 1/2/inches tall and 12 inches wide. The whole figure was painted black and then one side was gilded. On the other side are visible patches of old copper where the paint has fallen ... moreoff. Some of the gilding has naturally worn away creating an interesting patina. The surface is completely stable, with no flaking or chipping. On the whole. This figure of Abraham Lincoln mounted on his horse is in pretty good shape, and the photos give a very good idea of the charm and quality of this wonderful example of American folk art. The boat has a main sail and a jib sail, nice three dimensional detail with metal wire representing the lines or ropes, small flags and a 3.5" hull or body of the boat. In very good vintage condition, wear to the finish but no defects in the body or construction. The boat sits on a small wood stand ready to display. WEATHER VANE: Antique Cockerel. American, Gilded Copper. 23"Tall x 15"Wide, 1800's This is a wonderful old Weather Vane featuring a Cockerel. I believe he is is made of copper and brass. He was gilded. But much of the gold has worn away. The supporting rod is particularly well made. This Cockerel came from a disassembled and demolished Convent Chapel in Bristol. Rhode Island when the Convent was sold to a developer. The man I bought him from told me that the Convent had been a fixture of the community since the 1800's, so I assume the Cockerel dates from the same time period. This type of Weather Vane with a Cockerel was a frequent feature of churches and chapels. A papal edict in the 9th century was responsible for the proliferation of Cockerels. Or Weathercocks, as they were also called, on churches. This edict required ... moreevery Church in Christendom to be mounted by a Cockerel. This symbol was to recall Peter's betrayal of Jesus(Luke 22:34) I tell you, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before you will deny three times that you know me" Although only the symbol of the cockerel was required by the edict, the motif, it seems, was quickly wedded with the weather vane. By the 13th century the word for weathercock(gallum) and weather vane(ventrologium) had become interchangeable. Interestingly, early Weathercocks, like this one, did not include cardinal letters, as Christian churches always lay east to west. This Cockerel stands 23 inches tall on his wooden base. He is beautifully cut from a sheet of copper and seems to be the work of a local craftsman. Rather than a mass produced Weather Vane. I believe the supporting rod and finial are brass. The whole was gilded but much of the gilding has worn away revealing patches of verdigris and old copper. When I acquired him. He was filthy, so I cleaned him with mineral water. On the whole. Vintage 1960s 1970s Copper Weather Vane
Hello. Up for auction is a vintage weather vane from the 1960s or 1970s. I am not sure. It came off my dads mobile home trailer and I got it after he passed away. Its about 16 inches high by 11 inches wide. I think its both copper and brass as the Angel slides off and it light in weight and the bottom base is rather heavy. Shipping is Flat Rate Priority Mail. This is an original hand made Copper eagle weathervane. A real piece of Americana. Would make a wonderful display or conversational piece. Has a few dings but no major damage. Tarnished and aged naturally over many years of outside elements. This is original and not a reproduction like most others listed. This piece comes from a historical estate in Coleman. Texas. When I was a small child I remember drive by this grand old three story house with huge white columns. My dad would always point out the carriage house,stables, and servant quarters in back. I would gave at the grand eagle on top, along with the lightning rods. I am now 50 years old. I went to an estate sale there a few weeks ago and mentioned to the owner that I always loved the eagle that use to sit up on the carriage house. He went inside and brought it out stating that the ... moreroofers took it down. He asked if I was interested in buying it so I did. The owner told me that the house was over a 150 years old and that the piece was original to the house when his parents bought it in 1915. I believe this to be a original 1800's vane. eagle is around 21 inches high, 24 long and 21 wide.

Handmade original copper weather vane with 23k gold leaf, Artist's palette
This antique all copper Artist's Palette weather vane has been on my barn roof for over 35 years. It came off this winter due to falling ice. The piece with the N.E,S,W, letters was broken beyond repair and remains mangled up on the roof. This piece however is in fabulous condition. Will make a very nice gift for any Artist! It is all copper with hammered areas gilded in 23k gold leaf indicating the"Paint" spots. The tip of the arrow, which is made as a paint brush, is also hammered textured with gold leaf. Great for a wall art piece or even back in action as a weather vane if you add a new base. I have not cleaned or polished it in any way, but the gold is bright naturally. 80 year old copper rooster weather vane
this weather vane came off of a 100 year old barn told it was about 80 years old hand crafted.It is not in new shape of course it is very old it is in fair shape.It measures roughlu 24"by 21" the feathers on the vane have alittle bend in it and it has a little impression on one side this is handcrafted and has alot of detail in it.
