Antique Purple Glass Lightning Rod Ball / Moon and Star / Goshen Co.
Being offered is one antique glass lightning rod ball made by the Goshen Lightning Rod Company dating back to the early 1900's. It is amethyst in color with a moon and star pattern and measures approximately 4 1/4 inches across and 5 inches end to end from the collars(openings measure 7/8" inside diameter) There is some light chipping and rough edges on the collars which is quite common on antique lightning balls. Black scorching is visible but overall in great condition for its age. Amethyst in the moon and star pattern is hard to come by. Here is an opportunity to acquire one. You'll need to do minor cleaning on it when you get it as we've left it as found. I've been told that this ball was sold by the Goshen Lightning Rod Co and they called it the Goshen design but not sure whether that is correct or not. We've added a Buy It Now for your convenience. Offering up for auction an antique lightning rod weather van arrow. It measures 22-1/2 inches long by 4-1/2 inches wide at the glass panel section. The glass panel measures about 6-1/4 by 2-1/2 inches. The art deco style red glass panel is etched with a moon and a shooting star design. This decoration is actually carved into the glass. There is rust and pitting but no sections are weakened by the rust. There are no cracks in the glass panel but there is one 1/4 inch chip. Here is an antique milk glass star& moon lightning rod ball that has a sun colored purple cast. The chemicals they used in glass back then would add a purple cast from being in the sun for so many years. This one has a slight cast. I pictured it next to an all white one for comparison but the white one is not included. This measures approximately 5"T x 4 1/2"W. I did clean it but it has a little discoloration around the bottom collar and inside the ball. One collar has a little chipping. The bottom collar has a little more chipping around the edge.
