Purchased at an Estate Sale. I do not know much about this piece. I was told it is very old. But as I am not am antiques dealer I really don't know. Please review pictures to judge condition for yourself. I was told it is a tin zinc metal. Hollow piece.Two sided horse weathervane. Has horse hair tail. That looks to me to have been added at a later time, possibly because the original tail broke. There are some dents as shown. I noticed a crack on the front foot. Some seperation at seams as hown. I believe it dates to the early years of the last century. The Sopwith Camel was a British First world War single-seat biplane fighter introduced on the Western Front in 1917. Manufactured by Sopwith Aviation Company. It had a short-coupled fuselage, heavy, powerful rotary engine and concentrated fire from twin synchronized machine guns. Though difficult to handle, to an experienced pilot it provided unmatched maneuverability. A superlative fighter, the Camel was credited with shooting down 1,294 enemy aircraft, more than any other Allied fighter of the war. ... moreIt also served as a ground-attack aircraft, especially near the end of the conflict, when it was outclassed in the air-to-air role by newer fighters. Antique Soldered Tin Folk Art Cupola Finial Architectural Roof Garden Ornament
This auction is for an antique soldered Galvanized TIN CUPOLA with a great oxidized patina. This Cupola is in excellent structural condition. It is fabricated by an unusual kind of corrugated zinc coated tin(steel) sheet metal similar to the texture of corduroy. The rust oxidation is mostly on the exterior surface and the metal is still solid with its original thickness(not rusted through or badly corroded) It appears that this piece was never painted and the original galvanized zinc cladding has been eroded by the elements. The result is a great antique rust patina which tells the true age of this piece. The dimensions are 22" tall and 15" square( at widest part) The original galvanized zinc remains mostly intact on the interior. There is some roofing tar residue on one side. No roosters or horses here, this is a nice antique car formed out of tin and mounted on a vertical pole with direction cross members. The cross members have the compass directions also cut from tin. I'm not sure of the model car but it has a long sleek body. Possibly a sedan of sorts, tin spoke wheels a formed headlights and a double ball hood ornament. There is a stud in the base of the car for mounting on the compass pole. Good antique condition with original green-grey patina. Has some tin peeling on the base of the car and the front below the grill. This is due to being out in the weather for years before being stored away in a barn. Antique Weathervane- Zinc or Tin- Original Lightning Rod Arrow
This is a nice vintage weathervane made of zinc or tin. It may have had a glass piece at one time but I don't see anything that would have held the glass in place- there are no clips or screw holes where clips would have gone. Anyway. The weathervane is in nice shape with normal pitting and wear typical of the age of the piece. I did not try to clean it, I know the patina is important to most people. Maryland which is the capital of chicken raising country in Southern Maryland. I think he is the work of some local craftsman. Rather than a commercially produced piece. He is made of cut out and assembled pieces of tin. His body was painted black; his comb, wattle and tail, red. Much of the paint has worn off revealing patches of rust. Antique UNUSUAL Tin Hollow Body Lightning Rod Horse Weathervane
Here we have for sale an unusual looking tin hollow body two piece horse weathervane. Not sure about the origins of this one. A guy had several lightning rods that came out of Illinois and this was part of his collection. The arrow is 20-3/4" long and made if cast iron. The horse is 8-1/4" long and 5-1/2" tall. It is made of two pieces of tin. It is swelled just like all other hollow body lightning rod animal vanes. It has detail as well. It is soldered together in spots but looks like it never was totally soldered all the way around. It has been painted black some years ago and has seen"use" in the air. It kinda reminds me of a Moore Bro. style horse that mounts on it's two middle legs. No damage or repairs. It's needs to be stripped of the paint to make it look real good. As a side note. Let me add this. ... moreI have not seen this style horse before which don't really mean anything because I haven't seen it all anyways. The arrow shaft doesn't appear to have ever had anything else mounted on it before. No extra holes or solder spots. The shaft is unquestionable as to being original to the front. The solder on the horses hooves appears to be a one time deal. I may be letting something unusual go here but I need to recoup some $'s! What you see is what you get.

antique tin roof ridge cap ends [ 3 1/2" balls ]
a nicely weathered pair of tin ridge cap ends off a grand old barn that went down last spring in a very windy storm. There is some kind of name stamped on the back of them. The end balls measure 3 1/2" and are tightly soldered on to the base that is made to fit over a 2" rounded top ridge cap. In the last picture towards the bottom there is a small tear in the metal of the ball[ where it is connected to the base] but it really should not affect anything. This is an old brass/copper/tin barn advertising tag or plate with raised lettering. For a frost proof Victor generator manufactured by Moore Bro's Lightning Rod Co. of Maryville. Mo. It measures appx 6-3/8" long by 4-1/2" tall. I was told they put these on the side of a barn where they had installed this brand of generator for advertising and identification purposes. It has serial number 637 on it and has patent dates of Nov. 19th, 1912, and Nov. 30th,1915. A very neat old primitive piece!
