Antique Bronze Weathervane Direction Arrows Nice Patina Finish
Large Antique Weather Vane Directions From an old estate. These are bronze direction pieces that would go on the pole beneath the figure. There are two pieces that make the direction letters. Each piece extends from the center piece and has the direction letter at the ends- N S E& W. The arms extend 9" from the center. And they are each 3.25" tall. The direction letters are made of a heavy bronze(magnet does not stick) and have a weathered aged finish. The North-South piece is slightly thicker metal but the pieces fit well together and are the same size. There are screws on both center pieces to tighten the arms to the weathervane pole. This antique work of art. Horse& sulky with rider, copper with patina/and brass/cast iron,zinc? weather vane. I was told it was made in the 1800's it was on an old barn that was built in the 1800's so it most likely was the original weather vane put there when it was built. I love this beautiful piece of Americana folk art. The horses ears are missing,it needs some minor fixes,some parts need welded,there is a crack in the base& the end piece of the base is missing but it still is usable, in all its in great shape for its age and the fact that it was in use until recently. The most important parts still exist. It measures 33" long 14" high to the top of the riders head.It is a true vintage work of art! Natural wear and imperfections just add more character! LIGHTNING ROD W/ TEXTURED GLASS BALL FROM 100+ YEAR OLD BARN VERY NICE PATINA
Lightning rod is 59" long. The stand is 31.5" tall. The glass ball is textured& appears clear with what looks like air bubbles in it! I'm no expert. Actually I checked out a few here on eBay& I found none like it! Beautiful Patina on this lightning rod! Base is solid& heavy. But the glass ball is unique! This rod& ball is one of four removed from a barn built over 100 years ago! Small chip on ball(see gallery picture) NO cracks! Ball has(4) of what looks like seam lines that resemble cracks on each quarter. One line shown in gallery picture. It looks like a crack, but it's not! I will pay the shipping! AND. Antique Sulky Weather Vane Copper and Brass Horse and Rider nice Patina
This is a vintage Horse and Sulky with Rider Copper Weathervane. The rear leg of the horse has come loose from the bottom cross post but is very repairable. The driver left reign needs to resoldered and one spoke on the left wheel has been cracked. all repairable. The driver sit slightly to the left of center when viewed from the front. it is in good condition with no major issues. All can be seen in the pictures provided It measures 33" x 15" I purchased this at an estate sale where the owner past away after living in her house nearly 30 years. This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with harness rider and trotting horse. It is copper metals with rider's head made of bronze and/or brass. It has a great original patina. This folk art weathervane dates to the 1880s. No makers marks. Made from copper forms and soldered ... moretogether the figures are hollow. This is one piece and has no directionals. VINTAGE COPPER PIG WEATHERVANE WITH TWO BALLS - NICE PATINA - FARM FRESH!!
Vintage farm fresh pig weathervane. Based on the greenish corrosion. I'm pretty sure that the pig and balls located above and below the compass direction arms are made of copper. There is also green corrosion on the N, S, E, and W arms, but I'm not sure if they are copper or if the corrosion dripped down from the pig. This is a large weathervane that measures over 34" tall and 25" wide. Not sure of the age, but it was recently removed from an old barn on a farm in northern Michigan. Shows lots of patina and a bit of rust on the rod, which I presume is steel. There is one very small dent in one of the front legs where it appears some aspiring young hunter stalked this swine with his red ryder bb gun.
