The copper has weathered nicely over the years and has achieved a neat bronze color patina. This point was made from solid copper. There is a slight dent in the one side which slightly distorts the point. It fits on 1/2" i.d. or 5/8" o.d. copper pipe to put on a lightning rod stand. The rods are approx. 11" long, some are bent but could be rebent straight and attached to the stands that are stamped West Dodd Co, Goshen Ind. Antique American Folk Art Tin Car Weather Vane Sedan 3 D ESTATE BARN FIND! Estate find in California. This is a great medium size folk art weather vane. Rare three dimensional car! No roosters or horses here, this is a nice antique car formed out of tin and mounted on a vertical pole with direction cross members. The cross members have the compass directions also cut from tin. I'm not sure of the model car but it has a long sleek body. Possibly a sedan of sorts, tin spoke wheels a formed headlights and a double ball hood ornament. There is a stud in the base of the car for mounting on the compass pole. Good antique condition with original green-grey patina. Has some tin peeling on the base of the car and the front below the grill. This is due to being out in the weather for years before being stored away in a barn. The car's structure ... moreis still strong otherwise. Can be tacked on to the side of a building or fitted on small stand. Weather vane will be shipped in two pieces and well padded. This is a very rare 3.5" Wine Glass Ball with fluted ribs. It is NOS. No weathering. It looks to have the correct embossing on rim. You can clearly make out"PAT JULY 3rd 77" Collectors have told me this is a rare Canadian model. This came out of my Grandparents Estate. He was an electrician and rod installer from roughly 1940-1980. This was packed up in his barn with other items in his collection. I've sold many balls from this collection to happy collectors! 3 Antique Matching Victorian Iron Lightning Rods Balls Weathervane Farm Hardware
Here we have a group of 3 matching lightning rods. Glass balls and a kitetail weathervane. I personally removed these from a house here in Southern Ky. recently. Here's what you get. 3- 21" iron noninsulated stands with 31" iron twisted star rods. All the brass clips to clamp the rods are intact as are the feet. Rods come with the two piece brass cable connectors and a broad bladed 9" bayonet. Stands and rods have some old silver paint and the tips have super green patina! Each rod is marked Improved Miller Quality on the bottom fitting. You get 3- white milk glass 4-1/2" round glass balls. Collars are good and there are no cracks or bb damage. Two of the balls have old caps. Altho not the best caps but they're old. The other ball I put one copper new cap on it. None of the caps are affixed so you could put new ... morecaps on all three if you want. Finally, you get a 21" cast aluminum kitetail style weathervane and two piece cast aluminum ferrule. EACH OF THE 3 LEGS EXTEND OUT 10-1/2" AND EACH ONE HAS 2 HOLES FOR ATTACHING TO ROOF. THE BASE EXTENDS UPWARD AND STAND UP 8"HIGH. THE SOLID COPPER ROD WITH A ROCKET LIKE POINT IS 21" LOND. AND SLIDES RIGHT THROUGH THE CENTER OF THE BASE. THE MILK GLASS SPHERE HAS A CAP ON THE TOP WHERE THE WHOLE IS. AND IS ABOUT 5-1/2" WIDE. THE GLASS IS ORIGINAL, HANDBLOWN, AND IN PERFECT CONDITION(NO BREAKS OR CRACKS) I HAD TO CLIMB UP A HUGE LATTER. AND WALK UP A ROOF WITH AN EXTREMELY DEEP PITCH TO RETRIEVE IT. All of the balls have"medium" size collars with the usual wear expected from 100 years of rattling in the wind while sitting on a rooftop lightning rod. One of the sun colored amethyst(SCA) balls has a V shaped chip that does not reach the body of the ball. But a metal cap covers this chip fully. One of the blue milk glass balls has a bubble pop hole in it. This hole is from the manufacturing process, an air pocket was in the mold when the ball was made. This is not a hole caused by a BB gun. This ball is considered usable, as it was on a rooftop lightning rod for years and did not break during its lifetime. All of these balls have another 100 years of use left in them! antique tin roof ridge cap ends [ 3 1/2" balls ]
a nicely weathered pair of tin ridge cap ends off a grand old barn that went down last spring in a very windy storm. There is some kind of name stamped on the back of them. The end balls measure 3 1/2" and are tightly soldered on to the base that is made to fit over a 2" rounded top ridge cap. In the last picture towards the bottom there is a small tear in the metal of the ball[ where it is connected to the base] but it really should not affect anything. The metal of the"ball' is either tin or zinc. Thank you for viewing our antique tinwork.

Antique 3 Ft. Metal Ox Wagon Weathervane ~ Early 1900's vintage weather vane
FOR SALE is this antique metal weathervane that dates from at least the 1940's. Possibly older. It was recovered from a barn in Northern Michigan. The top accent features oxen pulling a wagon and measures 29" wide. The whole piece is 36" tall. Overall in good condition. The top accent spins well. No broken or loose pieces. The finish was painted over at one point as you can see by the light spots in the picture. The base has a locking bolt swivel so that it can mounted on a slanted roof.
