I took this off my farmhouse roof when I put a metal roof on. The farmhouse is early 1900's vintage.not sure how old the ball is! 4 1/2 inch diameter. It has a chip out of the top that should be covered when the cap is installed(not included)

ANTIQUE 4 1/2 INCH BLUE MILK GLASS ONION PLEATED LIGHTNING ROD BALL GLOBE
This is an old original blue pleated lightning rod ball. It is in very good condition. There are no cracks or breaks. There is chipping to the collar ends which is very common with these old balls. The collar ends are shown in the pics. It has a nice shiny finish to the glass and is a nice bright blue. It measures 4 1/2" across at the widest point. It will be well packed and fully insured. Up for auction is a pretty nice vintage/antique gray blue milk glass lightning rod ball. It measures approx. 5 1/2" high and 4 1/2" in diameter. There is some chipping on the bases and it has some staining on the inside of one base. But. Considering it's age and use it is in really good condition. I do not see any marks to identify who the maker is. This lightning ball would make a wonderful addition to your lightning ball or blue milk glass collection, And as always. Measures about 5 inches tall and is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter at widest point and 1 1/4 inches in diameter at the openings. It appears that it is a blue colored milk glass type glass. It is embossed with a diamond with"D&S" inside of it. Also embossed with Patent Pending. You can see the openings are a bit rough. But it looks like a lot of that is from the manufacturing. The one opening is stained and has more chips in it. My guess is there was a metal cap/sleeve type thing there and it rusted. This is a very cool blue colored piece to ass to your collection! There is no reserve on this scarce antique lightning rod ball. We are pleased to offer this antique lightning rod ball in the“doorknob” shape. This shape is one of the harder ones to find. It is in the milk glass blue color with swirls similar to slag glass and is in excellent condition. There is some normal roughness on each end of the ball. But it can easily be covered with caps. There is some pitting in the glass that shows up as white pin dots. We think this would be a welcome addition to anyone’s collection. The measurements are 4 1/2" high x 4” across the midline. This is an old cobalt blue glass lightning rod ball. It measures 4 1/2" across and the rod hole is 1 1/4" It is in great condition with no cracks or breaks. Vintage Antique 68" Copper Lightning Rod with Blue W.C. Shinn Milk Glass Ball
This is a beautiful old copper lightning rod with metal stand and blue milk glass W.C. Shinn Mfg. Co. ball. The copper has a fantastic green patina and the stand has some surface rust. But it is still sturdy and functional. There are holes in the ends of the stand legs for attaching the stand to the roof or other structure. The glass ball is a bold robin's egg blue with the words W.C. Shinn Mfg. Co. wrapped around the middle. There are some tiny chips missing from the top rim and two larger chips missing from the bottom as shown in the 4th, 7th, and last photo. The ball still sits nicely on the metal disk, and there are no cracks in the glass anywhere. The white disk you can see under the ball on the photos is a thin foam disk that is there to protect the bottom rim of the ball, but it is not necessary and can be slipped right off. I ... morewill remove the stand and ship that part along with the ball in a separate box from the lightning rod to protect the ball from breakage and lower shipping cost. This listing is for an Antique. Ribbed Grape Lightning Rod Ball or Globe in Blue Milk Glass. The blue color is an amazing light blue with deep coloring. The Ribbed Grape pattern features three rows of circles with ribbed panels above and below. The ball has 18 circles in the center row. The pattern was produced by different manufacturers, I believe this one is a National Lightening Protection Co ball as the Fenton balls measure smaller. The piece measures 5 1/2" high. 4 1/2" in diameter and weighs 9.8 oz. The piece has chips and fleabites around the fitter ends which is extremely common. The main ball portion is in excellent condition with no cracks or dings. This is a great antique ball in a rare color and will make a fantastic addition to any lightening rod ball collection. Vintage Shinn Weathervane Antique Lightning Rod Ball Cobalt Blue Old
This is a really nice full set of cobalt blue lightning rod ball. Pendants and pendant hanger. The 4 1/2" ball is marked Shinn Systems but not the Pendants. The hanger is included in this sale along with the 4 pendants and the round ball but not the rod itself. The whole set seem to be in very good original condition with no cracks or chips that are noticeable. The ball and pendants have a lot of imperfections in the glass and the pendants are pleated in shape. The 4-1/2' ball has on imperfection by one of the caps looks like a very small chip or mold issue and very small also, the 4- 1/2" ball holes are not perfectly centered in the ball.
