Up for sale is an antique horse form weathervane recently found in the Northern indiana area. It is found in good used condition and comes attached to part of its original post. It is sheet metal and offered in as found condition with its original finish. This piece has pegged construction as it joins the post. The only condition issue to discuss is rust to both sides. The directional post the horse rests on is missing both ends and the tail shows minor losses. It measures approximately 12" x 8 1/2" in size. Purchased at an Estate Sale. I do not know much about this piece. I was told it is very old. But as I am not am antiques dealer I really don't know. Please review pictures to judge condition for yourself. I was told it is a tin zinc metal. Hollow piece.Two sided horse weathervane. Has horse hair tail. That looks to me to have been added at a later time, possibly because the original tail broke. There are some dents as shown. I noticed a crack on the front foot. Some seperation at seams as hown. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART WOODEN SWAN WEATHERVANE ORIGINAL PAINT AAFA
Freshly found. This wonderful swan or hissing goose folk art weathervane has a fabulous, strong presentation in its folky form. Measuring approximately 39” in total length by 11” wide at the widest and about one inch thick, I believe it hails from the first quarter of the 20 th century. The old repairs along the wing and the base appear to have been put in to stabilize cracks that had begun. But not travelled. The neck either had been a separate piece, or had sheared off at some point as it too, has the old pinned repairs. It does fit well when pushed in place but still wobbles, and will need reinforcement along the old pin shadows that have fallen out to make him fully secure again. I’ve left him as shown to show where the old pins had attached. Very, very cool form. Just off a barn in central Iowa where it's stood for over 90 years. 55 1/2" Tall. Arrow with man in jalopy is 24 3/4" long with the car itself 10" long and 5" high. Car is aluminum. Arrow and 3 shafts to legs are cast iron and are weathered. No breaks. Lightning rod is copper which has verdigris with time. Only problem is the ring under the arrow has split. Does not affect it in any way. Could be replaced. This is"as found" condition with a great old surface from age and exposure. Very folk art in appearance. This wonderful piece of folk art was recently purchased by us out of an estate near Philadephia Pennsylvania. We concur with the former owners in the thought the vane was likely to have resided on a building which housed a chimney sweeping service in the Philadelphia area during the turn of the 19th century. This allowed the piece the service of acting as a trade sign as well as a weathervane. As you can see the profile of the piece is a striking sillohette of a chimney sweep. The personage bearing a period top hat, and sporting ... morea tailcoat. In the sweepers hands he holds the tools of his trade, a flue brush and a ladder. Another specific element of great folk art is the blacksmith who created this piece included the profile of a cat on the edge. Complete with pointed ears, and a charming curled tail. The construction of the piece showcases great original ironwork. The blacksmith formed out the design of the weathervane in flat iron. And reinforced the back with wrought strap iron support brackets including three areas where a rod could pass through(see images) Over the course of time. The piece was painted with several layers of paint, mostly in shades of green. If you click the individual images you'll see you can produce enlargements which allow for a better presentation of the surface and original construction. You'll see that overtime and exposure to the elements the paint has flaked on the piece creating a wonderul'alligatored' finish. The metal beneath the paint. Antique Horse Weathervane, arrow, original old bullet holes AMERICANA FOLK ART
You are bidding on a TOTALLY AUTHENTIC AMERICANA FOLK ART antique Horse Weather Vane. That is made out of some kind of metal alloy and mounted on an iron arrow and once used as a weather vane. IT LOOKS GREAT mounted on a wall. The piece has wonderful, artistic lines- it's 28" long from the tip of the arrow to the end; the height is 12" from the tip of the horse's ears to the bottom of the arrow; and the horse itself is 13" long, but would be 2" or so longer if his front leg were still attached to the metal mounting. The appears to be some of carousel or circus horse, as there is a sculpted band around its middle. THE ARROW HAS AMAZING PATINA, and both it and the horse are obviously very old and weathered. This auction is for a old Pig Weathervane/Lightning Rod Directional Arrow that came from a Missouri estate. It measures 21 5/8" x 5 3/8" The metal pig which I think is zinc measures 9" x 5" The arrow is cast iron and is straight. The back part of the arrow that the pig stands on is designed with twisted metal. It appears that a piece that originally went to one of the back legs is broken. I have a close up of it in the pictures. As you can see this little piggy was used for target practice and has several bullet holes in his body. The legs. Ears, nose, and tail are intact and the pig is secure on the arrow. It is weathered from lots of years on the barn and the cast iron arrow has some rust. I found this weathervane here in Maine. So it has seen some harsh conditions, but still remains in a solid condition. Positioned in front of the cow is a beautiful directional arrow which I believe is made out of brass. Below the directional is a beautiful white glass lightning bulb that has some black on the bottom, perhaps from smoke out of a chimney. The main rod is twisted and I believe the finial is missing from the top. Sitting at the bottom of the weathervane are three mounting legs and feet. The top features a sperm whale measuring 25" by 7" The N/S/E/W spokes measure 18" across. And the pole stands 18 1/2" high. Altogether, the whale measures approx. 26" tall. I have tested the weathervane with WD-40, but it does not turn. The copper has a light green patina and verdigris which adds to the antique character and overall appeal of this piece. The weathervane is in good condition for its age. But the tail section is a little rusty on top from being out in the elements. It has natural green patina on the copper. antique folk art pig weather vane rusted sheet metal
The sheet metal this pig is cut from is 1/16th wide so it is bendable. The pig stands 15 3/4" tall; the arrow is 19 1/2" long. The pig and arrow are not removable from the stand which measures as an oval 4 1/2" X 8" The pig rotates but would probably not do so in the wind or unless it was lubricated with oil or silcone. The stand is heavy and can tolerate rotation; it is heavy and the entire piece weighs 4 pounds. It is meant to stand on the oval as there are no screw holes or ways to mount the weather vane. The only history of this that I know is that it was part of an estate and unwanted by the heirs. It is a very pleasing. Has wonderful, rusty patina; and is a somewhat unique piece of folk art.

I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa late 1800s to early 1900s American Folk Art Sheet Metal Cut Out Silhouette HORSE WEATHERVANE. It is Fresh off the Farm. Picked out of an old granary. It measures approx 31" long, approx 26" tall and is made of two cut out and riveted together pieces of sheet metal. The vane is fully guaranteed as being authentic. Dating from somewhere approx. 1900 give or take. It was purchased off of an old family farm here in Wisconsin, I've been trying to by it for over 20 years. Really Nicely Done. Unknown maker probably done by a local tinsmith back in the day. I think that its a fantastic looking item. Perfect for a wall décor or to have a stand made with a rod for proper display. Antique circa1840 Folk Art Weather Vane
People out there. This 15" X 19" vane came off one of the islands off the coast of Maine, don't ask me which one. We think it's probably earlier than 1840, it's 100% the way it was made, nothing has ever been done to it. We think it might very well be unique. Notice the whale. When it was taken down all they had to do was lift it off its shaft, thank God they took the time to take the shaft with it. We don't think you could ever find a match to it. This was taken down probably sometime before the civil war, long before factory weather vanes were even thought of. What a story he could tell, the rooster that is. I purchased this fantastic piece of Americana from a farm estate sale in Puxico. Missouri. The cow weathervane is made of single thickness galvanized steel. The cow had been painted the traditional BARN RED sometime back in history. The cow does have a bullet hole as can be seen in the photos and does have a couple of dents where it appears some bullets did not penetrate the steel. The cow appears to be homemade and most likely made in the farmer's shop. The LARGE folk art primitive cow weathervane measures 35 inches long from tip of the cow's tail to the tip of the arrow.and the center pole measures 17.5 inches tall. Antique Copper Weathervane Horse Americana Folk Art 30"
For auction is for a copper Horse Weathervane Topper. The horse is almost 30" long and total height is 17" and the horse is 13 1/2" tall. The tail solder is loose on one side and there are 2 cracks in the mounting rod. There are a few dents and dings(see pics) All the rest of the seems are intact and it has both ears intact. Antique folk art cow weathervane 1900's James A10B ruby globe copper & zinc
This weathervane has all the character and patina a collector could want. Fortunately it has some old west style bullet holes that gives it an even more unique appearance. The ruby red globe is without cracks or repairs. It is stamped A10B. I have no idea what that means. This piece will be packed with extreme care and sent to the new owner without any shipping or handling charges if it goes to someone in the contiguous United States. Alaska and Hawaii will be charged $30.00. I will answer questions to the best of my ability. The fittings are worn from age and use, so it will need to be tightened up if it is put to practical use. I suspect it is copper as a magnetic strip does not stick to the horse, just the support stick and directionals. I think the tail may have always been“bobbed” But I can’t say for sure. Letters and front hoof tip are missing, but still a very strong classic presentation. Cow has genuine green patina from its many years of outside usage along with the usual weathering(wear and tear) This is definitely not a reproduction in any way. Shape or form. Great antique 19th century carved wood cod fish weathervane. This primitively carved piece has remnants of paint on the underside. There are carved lines to highlight the eyes. Fins and some scales. There may have been zinc fins and a tail attached to the vane at the seam. It probably came apart and it looks like round headed nails were used to put it back together, however, the age of the weathervane is greater than that. It was bought from a man in Fairhaven, MA. He told us that it came from a small church on Nantucket Island. This is all he knew about it. It measures 27 1/2" long, 5 1/2" tall, and 3 1/2" wide. Antique Soldered Tin Folk Art Cupola Finial Architectural Roof Garden Ornament
This auction is for an antique soldered Galvanized TIN CUPOLA with a great oxidized patina. This Cupola is in excellent structural condition. It is fabricated by an unusual kind of corrugated zinc coated tin(steel) sheet metal similar to the texture of corduroy. The rust oxidation is mostly on the exterior surface and the metal is still solid with its original thickness(not rusted through or badly corroded) It appears that this piece was never painted and the original galvanized zinc cladding has been eroded by the elements. The result is a great antique rust patina which tells the true age of this piece. The dimensions are 22" tall and 15" square( at widest part) The original galvanized zinc remains mostly intact on the interior. There is some roofing tar residue on one side. This will make a great architectural detail to any old ... morestructure or in a garden setting.

Antique American Folk Art Tin Car Weather Vane Sedan 3 D ESTATE BARN FIND! Estate find in California. This is a great medium size folk art weather vane. Rare three dimensional car! No roosters or horses here, this is a nice antique car formed out of tin and mounted on a vertical pole with direction cross members. The cross members have the compass directions also cut from tin. I'm not sure of the model car but it has a long sleek body. Possibly a sedan of sorts, tin spoke wheels a formed headlights and a double ball hood ornament. There is a stud in the base of the car for mounting on the compass pole. Good antique condition with original green-grey patina. Has some tin peeling on the base of the car and the front below the grill. This is due to being out in the weather for years before being stored away in a barn. Antique Primitive Dog Weathervane Estate find from an antique collector in Pennsylvania. This is a great original folk art weather vane. No roosters or horses here, this is a unique cut heavy sheet metal dog standing on a primitive arrow. It has been painted a light gray color. I would probably remove the paint but will leave that you to the buyer. There is a small bracket on the bottom edge of the arrow that supports the 2.5" post that fits in the pole. Good antique condition with old painted patina and some small spots of white paint( Can be mounted on a pole or hung on a wall or displayed on a small stand. Antique Cast Iron Lightning Rod Weather Vane Arrow Old Rustic folk art 23"
Up for auction is this one-of-a-kind weather vane arrow. It has an incredible patina from being exposed to the elements for a century. I believe the front half is cast iron. the back of it is made of thick twisted wire. It is at least 100 years old. I wouldn't be surprised if it dates back to the 1800's. It measures 23" long. Up for auction is a large antique folk art weathervane. The weathervane is a silhouette of a lady spinning yarn at a spinning wheel. At the opposite end of the lady is a cat sitting under the spinning wheel. The weathervane is large. Approximate measurements are 43" high x 29.5" wide x 24.5" deep. Overall the weathervane is in good shape. And there are no holes or cracks in the metal that I can see. The paint is worn and cracked, and there is some minor surface rust throughout the item consistent from decades of exposure to the weather. If you like the rustic farm look then you will love this item, and will not want to change a thing on it. AGE: This is an old item which I am guessing was made anywhere from the 1820's to the 1920's? But there is really no way to say for certain. But I can say that this is a genuine weathervane that was used, and not an aged replica made to fool. DIMENSIONS: The weathervane is 23.25” long X 12.5” tall. ... moreMATERIALS: This vane is made of sheet metal and then braced with heavy iron riveted supports to keep it rigid. ORIGINALITY: This item is untouched and just as I got it. I believe that the old black paint is a second coat of black. And it is likely that the mounting shaft was re-attached or fixed at some point long ago. CONDITION: As you can see in the photos. The weathervane has wear, tear, dents, scratches, bullet holes, and paint loss. The mounting post is corroded as seen in the close-up photos. ABOUT THE BASE: I used a section of an old rope bed rail to hold the weathervane during photography. I basically jammed the post into the hole. Because it is in the photos.
