Large Vintage-Antique Cast Aluminum Horse From Weathervane 19 1/2 By 8 1/2
I found this Large Cast Aluminum Horse at an estate sale. They didn't know where it came from other than it was their Parents. It looks like it was attached to a weathervane and broke off. I tried to find one like it online but I could not. It is 19 1/2 inches long by 8 1/2 inches high and weighs 1 5/8 pounds. The number stamped in the back looks like 100023. Vintage Auth: Solid cast iron weathervane horse with Motion and makers mark
Antique Weathervane Horse. An old barn find.I believe to be the early 1900's or maybe later 1800's? I am not a weathervane expert so I am trying to present the best information I can.The entire weathervane is made of cast iron, since a magnet sticks to all pieces. This weathervane has a great finish from decades of exposure to the elements. Rain, sleet, snow, lightning, and birds. It measures 34" from the top of the horses head to the bottom of the base. The horse is 8"wide by 7"high, and the arrow is 12" wide. There is a makers mark on the bottom of the base but after a month of research, I still don't know who it belongs to. Large Antique Copper Horse Weathervane Running Race Cast Metal Zinc Weather Vane
This is a really nice antique copper running horse weathervane with a solid cast metal( lead/zinc)head. Fine Patina is evidence of years in the weather. No idea of age. This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in PA. Found at a local estate. The man having the sale said as a boy his family bought a farm and this horse weather vane was on the barn. He said they lived there for 20 years and when they moved his father took it with them. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I did wipe it down. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this fine looking horse. The piece is 17" from top of the ear to the top of the pipe, The pipe is 33" long and weighs over 8 pounds. Nice detail in proper ... morehorse anatomy with muscles and veins showing. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. This piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions. Here's a Great Antique 19th Century American Running Horse Weathervane with Copper Body and Cast Iron Head. Offered at NO RESERVE! The weathervane measures approximately 24 and 1/4" long and stands about 15" tall. For the age and use it's in Very Good Condition; it has a variegated verdigris and rust patination which to me looks phenomenal. The head is rusty but solid, and there appear to be several filled holes here and there. Under the head the seam is split somewhat but that could be repaired. Of course there are dents, dings, and so forth, but nothing I would rate as being negative. As far as the history, it came off a barn in Fair Haven, NJ, which was built in the 1870s, and remained in the same family until I acquired it recently. Vintage Wrought & Cast Iron Horse Roof Mount Weathervane Equestrian 3' High
All Iron Vintage Weathervane 3' high and 32" at its widest point. Fastens to roof with four bolts and there is a hinge to adjust the angle. As it is an original vintage item there is a little surface rust and paint on it but that just adds to the charm of the piece. It comes apart into two pieces. If you have any questions please write. Primitive Vintage Cast Metal Prancing Horse Weathervane Shabby Black Finish I had an opportunity to go down state Illinois recently for the homecoming of my Alma Mater and shopped the wonderful sales. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! Here's a wonderful older vintage cast metal weathervane in the image of a pancing horse! It's made from a metal that a magnet does not stick to- spelter. I'm guessing, as it appears to be silver in color. The pieces has a hammered metal look on the arrow. You can see lots of peeks of the metal as the old black finish is shabby, chippy and worn- especially on the horse, where you can see more metal than paint. This is the top to a weathervane- it would have attached ... moreonto a pole at one point in time, with a directional underneath- I do not have those, so what you see is what you get. That being said, as it is, it could made for some very cool wall art if mounted on a wall- the possibilities are limited to your imagination. Measuring 33" long, it is 15 3/4" tall from the bottom of the(pole insert) to the top of the horse's ears. The hole at the base where it would mount is 7/8" measuring on the inside walls, with an interior(pole) hole of about 3/8. It weighs 3 3/4 lbs. and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. Aside from the wear to the finish, no issues at all. It's reallyreallyreally barn fresh dirty and cob-webby and needs a good cleaning- I have not cleaned in any way. Another fabulous farm find! Antique Appaloosa Horse Weathervane Up for consideration is a tall. Over 26" old, all aluminum, weathervane, featuring an Appaloosa horse on a the arrow directional. The arrow tail is complete with one bullet hole through the lower half of the feather portion of the arrow. The metal is all pretty straight, but not perfectly straight. All of the vane has been recently painted, with the exception of the arrow. The base has a screw like bottom. The arrow is 21 1/4"long, the horse being 6 1/8" tall and 7 1/2" long, and the directionals are 13 3/8" long, with the letters being 2 9/16- 2 5/8" in height. It weighs about 1 lb. and 4 oz. The horse appears to be made of zinc. It is not magnetic. It measures 11 ½ inches log and just over 2 ½ inches wide. It is missing one front leg and has come unattached from the arrow. You are looking at an antique weather vane horse on an arrow and the directional pieces. The horse rest on a long bolt that is pointed on the end so the horse moves to point the direction of the wind. This bold is not attached to the bottom piece so you will need to do something to keep it in place. It does not have a mounting bracket. If you make a mounting bracket or stand that would solve the bolt problem. The horse. Arrow, and directional pieces are made of cast aluminum. The center piece is a pipe. The arrow is 24" long. For sale is this vintage antique running horse weathervane. The head is cast brass while the body is copper and hollow. The horse is supported on the the original rod. Everything on this weather vane is original. I have been told it is a J.W. Fiske weathervane but there are no makers marks so I cannot guarantee this. Cast Aluminum, Black, Prancing Horse on Arrow Weather Vane Directional
Here is an Aluminum. Prancing Horse, Weather Vane directional piece. This would be the top piece that would swivel around with the wind to show what direction the wind is blowing. It is 17&1/2" long, 9" tall, and 3/4" wide. It weighs 1 lb. 3 oz. I am listing this as aluminum but I am not positive what kind of metal it is. A magnet does not stick to it. The metal is not damaged in any way. The hole to set down on a spindle is 3/8" wide. There is a reducer inside this hole that takes the opening down to 1/8" wide. The reducer probably can be removed if you need the full width of this hole. I have no idea of its age. I have had it for over 15 years.This could be used for indoor decorating too.
