Very nice original painted wooden rooster weather vane. It is signed along the bottom edge with"IRWIN PAGE" in basic block incised lettering. Carved from one solid 12" plank. It has old style fancy fret work tail feathers coped out with carving marks left unsanded(last photo shows the rough carving to round the feather ends) The eyes are carved out on both sides(Photo 4) Partially paint-obscured on one side. No dry rot, but paint is fairly shabby with some chipping, peeling, and lots of age soiling as in the photos. I tested it with a dowel in the mounting hole: rooster is properly balance and spins very freely. Photo 7 is the mounting hole. Worn but not rotted. I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa late 1800s to early 1900s American Folk Art Sheet Metal Cut Out Silhouette HORSE WEATHERVANE. It is Fresh off the Farm. Picked out of an old granary. It measures approx 31" long, approx 26" tall and is made of two cut out and riveted together pieces of sheet metal. The vane is fully guaranteed as being authentic. Dating from somewhere approx. 1900 give or take. It was purchased off of an old family farm here in Wisconsin, I've been trying to by it for over 20 years. Really Nicely Done. Unknown maker probably done by a local tinsmith back in the day. I think that its a fantastic looking item. Perfect for a wall décor or to have a stand made with a rod for proper display. I purchased this fantastic piece of Americana from a farm estate sale in Puxico. Missouri. The cow weathervane is made of single thickness galvanized steel. The cow had been painted the traditional BARN RED sometime back in history. The cow does have a bullet hole as can be seen in the photos and does have a couple of dents where it appears some bullets did not penetrate the steel. The cow appears to be homemade and most likely made in the farmer's shop. Vintage Antique Lightning Rod with WeatherVane Barn Farm Primitive Garden Decor
This lightning rod with weathervane came off the barn at my dad's farm. It was removed many years ago and has been sitting in the barn for years. The ball is NOT made of glass like some antique rods. It appears to be plastic. The Lightning rod and weathervane feel and look like aluminum. There is some blue/green patina that suggests the possibility of copper, but I can't be certain. A long time ago, my dad had the metal roof painted with an aluminum paint which is now on the lightning rod(the ball is originally white) I have not done anything to clean it and will leave that to the new owner. Approx. 3 ft. tall. The main rod slides up and down in the tripod feet. Making it taller or shorter. I've selected up to 5 days for handling because I may need to custom make a box for it. Up for auction to U.S. customers only is a nice old set of directionals and copper ball for a weathervane. I am pretty sure the 18-inch long directionals are brass and the ball is copper. I am not sure if the greenish patina is authentic or chemically enhanced. In either case it does give it a nice look. There are not cracks or breaks in the metal finish. This is an antique wooden Red-Headed Woodpecker shaped weathervane. It is 9" long 4.5" tall and.5" wide. The paint is faded and chipped in some spots because of it's age. The nail that held it in place is very rusty but it still holds it's original shape and sturdiness. The metal eyes are also rusty underneath the pain. Overall shape is in decent primitive condition. This auction is for an Authentic Antique Weather Vane. The iron arrow is in amazingly good condition. With only minor rust. No serious pitting. The horse is very nice, with some minor surface rust, and one hole at the bottom of one of it's furthest rear leg. The pictures give the best description. A super piece of Americana.
