Collection Of Antique Victorian Era Lightning Rod Weathervane Balls Farm Barn
Here we have for sale 5 old original lightning rod glass balls. These are all very nice quality old vintage balls. You get a SCA Moon& Star. An Amber Moon& Star, a SCA Electra, a Blue Milk Electra, and a SCA/WMG Diddie Blitzen. All balls are in great shape. Any collar chipping, a cap more than covers. There is no major chips on any of these, just nicks or small eraser size chips. No bb damage or cracks. I'm selling these as a starter collection. If they don't sell, then I may offer them separately. These are spares from my collection and are all old, vintage, hand picked items. Nothing phoney with these. The Amber Moon& Star is tough ball to aquire and is seldom seen on ebay, None have been offered this year so far. So don't miss out!

Here we have for sale a very nice victorian era iron lightning rod. Lightning rod is made of twisted iron with brass fittings. Rod is 41" long with a nice big 10" brass bayonet. Rod has the bottom clamp. Bottom female fitting is stamped St. Louis L.R.Co. St. Louis. Mo. Stand is the standard style and measuers 24" tall. It is the insulated style with 2 white porcelain double collar style insulators. No damage to these. Real nice looking old lightning rod indeed. If the shipping seems high, it's the new balloon charge the P.O. likes to add. They say it has to do with the space it takes up on the air plane. sounds like b/s to me. 3 Antique Matching Victorian Iron Lightning Rods Balls Weathervane Farm Hardware
Here we have a group of 3 matching lightning rods. Glass balls and a kitetail weathervane. I personally removed these from a house here in Southern Ky. recently. Here's what you get. 3- 21" iron noninsulated stands with 31" iron twisted star rods. All the brass clips to clamp the rods are intact as are the feet. Rods come with the two piece brass cable connectors and a broad bladed 9" bayonet. Stands and rods have some old silver paint and the tips have super green patina! Each rod is marked Improved Miller Quality on the bottom fitting. You get 3- white milk glass 4-1/2" round glass balls. Collars are good and there are no cracks or bb damage. Two of the balls have old caps. Altho not the best caps but they're old. The other ball I put one copper new cap on it. None of the caps are affixed so you could put new ... morecaps on all three if you want. Finally, you get a 21" cast aluminum kitetail style weathervane and two piece cast aluminum ferrule. The kite has a sun and cresent moon design in the tail. No damage to this vane at all! These are all old antique and in great shape. Add em to your collection or find some sections of grounding cable and put a system on your building. You don't see matching sets for sale in this good of shape. You get all 3 for the money. This antique weather vane is in great condition. With no breaks in the beautiful sky blue glass or bends in the iron. Here we have for sale a lightning rod with an old green glass weathervane. Stand is 3 ft. tall made of twisted wires. Insulators are embossed C.B.F.R. on one and Ohio Lightning Rod on the other. The latter one is damaged. Lightning rod is 5 ft. tall made of twisted iron. Tip is an aluminum 9 point crown point. The tip will not unscrew. Weathervane is 23" long and made of cast iron. Fantastic piece of circa 1880's roof cresting/ lightning arrester. Beautiful Gothic stylized botanicals in heavy cast iron. Old black paint with light surface rust. The iron is in great condition with no eroded/ rusted-through parts. The last 8" on the right in the first photo is the start of another section and is held together by screws/nuts through the original mounting plates. Mounted on an old. Weathered board for display. Cresting is tough to come by, as most was taken off the roofs many years ago do to mechanical and roof issues. The finial at the end is superb. Here we have for sale a lightning rod finial that has a very rare crown point with letter"G" Rod portion is made of copper. Lightning rod portion is 13.75" in length. Has some green patina throughout the whole piece. The rod has some black paint it looks like? Tip is a brass( at least I think it's brass& not copper? it has. 11 point crown point with a letter"G" in the center. I've been told this a rather tough tip to find. This particular crown point is bigger than any other I've seen. Nor have I ever seen it with this letter inside of it. May beautiful piece that has survived with little to zero use! This cast iron vane still sports. What I believe to be, it's original black paint, and shows no signs of deterioration/rust/damage! It is also complete with its original peach colored glass pane, that is cut to match the odd shape of the frame(see pictures) The other vane I have for sale is pictured to offer a size comparison, as the vane in this auction is much larger than other examples I have had in the past, and also much more ornate.The"Shinn" vane is not part of this auction. This was covered in layers upon layers of paint. I stripped it and it turned out great. All seams are tight. No dents or bullet holes. Has a nice rusted surface but not badly pitted or rusted thru. It's worn thru where the vane rides at the bottom but still is usuable. Great looking old shaft and not easy to find!

Here we have for sale a very nice lightning rod glasstail weathervane. This vane is 18" long and fits a twisted style rod. It has the original red over clear glass with a nice fat snowflake design. There is old staining on the glass and the frame has some silver roof paint. The small nick like area visable at the top center of the glass 3rd picture. Isn't an actual nick or damage. It is actually a small cut to see which side of the glass is the red side. I have a couple other glasstails with this same"test" mark. These designs are cut with a wheel. You grind through the thin red layer exposing the clear layer and viola you have your design. If you mistakenly made a big cut on the clear side, you ruined your glass. The frame is straight with no damage. This is a darn good looking little glasstail and is worthy of the best ... morecollections.

UP FOR AUCTION ARE THESE 2 BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE CIRCA LATE 19TH CENTURY SOLID BRASS VERDIGRIS WEATHERVANE DIRECTIONALS. THEY ARE BOTH IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.HOWEVER. THE SCREWS THAT TIGHTEN THE DIRECTIONALS ONTO THE ROD ARE RUSTED FROZEN ON BOTH.THE NORTH(N) DIRECTIONAL LETTER IS BENT. THERE ARE NO OTHER CRACKS,CHIPS OR BREAKS IN THESE 2 PIECES.OVERALL THE CONDITION OF BOTH IS EXCELLENT FOR THEIR AGE.THESE DIRECTIONALS WOULD MAKE AN ABSOLUTELY GREAT ADDITION TO ANY VICTORIAN AMERICANA COLLECTION OR USE THEM TO MAKE A FABULOUS COMPLETE WEATHERVANE WITH JUST THE RIGHT ORNAMENT ON TOP.EACH PIECE WEIGHS 6 LBS. OF SOLID BRASS. THEY MEASURE 29 INCHES LONG BY 6 1/2 INCHES WIDE.THE MOUNTING HOLE FOR THE ROD MEASURES ABOUT 7/8 INCH WIDE.
