It is missing one front leg and has come unattached from the arrow. It could be reattached easily. It has a few bullet holes as well to give it a lot of character. I found this Large Cast Aluminum Horse at an estate sale. They didn't know where it came from other than it was their Parents. It looks like it was attached to a weathervane and broke off. I tried to find one like it online but I could not. It is 19 1/2 inches long by 8 1/2 inches high and weighs 1 5/8 pounds. The number stamped in the back looks like 100023. This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. Antique Vintage Old Large Copper & Brass Weathervane Running Horse Weathervane
This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. The form is that of a pair of work horses pulling a plow and guided by a man/farmer. The reins are made of early twined wires. The plow. Horses, and farmer are riveted on an arrow. The vane is in a fabulous old black paint, with traces of a silver paint over it in some areas. There is no rod, so this would be displayed as a wall mount, unless you want to attach a rod to it in order to use it on a building. There are eight bullet holes in the horses, and one in the farmer, so this was obviously used for target practice when it was on the barn. The condition is very good, with just minimal paint loss. Large Antique Copper Horse Weathervane Running Race Cast Metal Zinc Weather Vane
This is a really nice antique copper running horse weathervane with a solid cast metal( lead/zinc)head. Fine Patina is evidence of years in the weather. No idea of age. This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in PA. Found at a local estate. The man having the sale said as a boy his family bought a farm and this horse weather vane was on the barn. He said they lived there for 20 years and when they moved his father took it with them. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I did wipe it down. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this fine looking horse. The piece is 17" from top of the ear to the top of the pipe, The pipe is 33" long and weighs over 8 pounds. Nice detail in proper ... morehorse anatomy with muscles and veins showing. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. This piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions. The weathervane measures approximately 24 and 1/4" long and stands about 15" tall. For the age and use it's in Very Good Condition; it has a variegated verdigris and rust patination which to me looks phenomenal. The head is rusty but solid, and there appear to be several filled holes here and there. Under the head the seam is split somewhat but that could be repaired. Of course there are dents, dings, and so forth, but nothing I would rate as being negative. As far as the history, it came off a barn in Fair Haven, NJ, which was built in the 1870s, and remained in the same family until I acquired it recently. I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa late 1800s to early 1900s American Folk Art Sheet Metal Cut Out Silhouette HORSE WEATHERVANE. It is Fresh off the Farm. Picked out of an old granary. It measures approx 31" long, approx 26" tall and is made of two cut out and riveted together pieces of sheet metal. The vane is fully guaranteed as being authentic. Dating from somewhere approx. 1900 give or take. It was purchased off of an old family farm here in Wisconsin, I've been trying to by it for over 20 years. Really Nicely Done. Unknown maker probably done by a local tinsmith back in the day. I think that its a fantastic looking item. Perfect for a wall décor or to have a stand made with a rod for proper display. It is in Very Nice Original As Found Condition. Comes with the old bird poop and everything. All I ... moredid was dust it off. It was painted a grayish color and is caked with dirt. Weather Vane: Antique High-Stepping Horse, Painted Iron, 33" Tall x 31.5" Wide
Weather Vane: Antique High-Stepping Horse, Painted Iron. 33" Tall x 31.5" Wide This is a really handsome Weather Vane featuring a high-stepping horse. I acquired him on a visit to South Dakota to see a friend with whom I was at university. The Horse and his Arrow are both made of heavy gage iron and seem to have several coats of paint. He is quite large and impressive. And it is a little difficult to make out his complicated patina with the different layers of paint. I think you can see this best in the details of the Horse's head and tail. As he stands now on his wooden stand. He is 33 inches tall and 30 1/2 inches wide. The Horse himself is 18 3/4 inches tall from his hooves to the top of his ears, and 24 inches long from the front of his raised leg to the tip of his flying tail. The arrow is 31 1/2 inches long, and is made ... moreof quarter inch iron. On one side he has a heavy strap support which is bolted on. And on the other side he has two sturdy holders for his support rod. They are also bolted. And both the holders and support strap are made of iron. The support rod was with the Horse when I first met hm, but I do not think he is as old as the Horse. I added the bit of hollow black steel and a copper footing at the bottom of the support rod to give the figure more visual stability. And I made the wooden stand from a piece of old beam when our barn home was reconstructed. This horse has always seemed to me to have both a noble and very cheerful feeling about him. With his high-stepping, his flying tail and his grin, which is still visible on one side. The other side seems to have suffered more wear and the smile has all but disappeared there. I am almost positive that this Horse is the work of some local craftsman. Rather than a mass producted piece. And my best guess is that he probably dates to the early years of the last century. Antique Running horse weatherfane made of copper late 19th early 20th century. The rod having ice caps and angled with a support to the rear leg 31 3/4 inches nose to tail. Head is copper. The top of the vane and the rod show lots of old verdigris surface while the remainder is gilt some wear down to copper right side back leg. The tops of hoofs and edges where it is soldered together have verdigris.There is an old patched bullet hole(see Arrow) I did get one buckshot ball out of the vane. Vintage Weather Vane Horse & Wagon Stagecoach with Directions Metal Antique
You are bidding on a vintage metal weathervane. It has a horse and wagon/stagecoach at the top and the directions in the middle. It is made of metal and is a weathered black/gray color. The top piece measures 21" long and 8" high. One side of the horse has a broken tip. As shown in one of the photos. The bottom section measures about 22" tall, with the directional about 13" across. It came from a barn or house somewhere on the East Coast in close proximity to the ocean which accounts for the beautiful green patina which covers its surface. The non ferrous metal of which the vane is constructed is bronze and the salt water air blowing in against it over the years has created its wonderful look. The arrow measures 25 inches and the cutout horse figure is 8-1/4 inches long and 7-1/2 inches high. The horse and the arrow’s feathers are 1/8 inch thick. The point of the arrow is a bit thicker and somewhat dimensional. The shaft of the arrow. And the upright tubing to which the compass points are attached, is 5/8 inch copper tubing. The letters…N ... moreE S W… are just under 2 inches high. The vane is still attached to the original piece of wood which was probably a part of the roof structure. That piece of wood may look like a lumberyard 2x4 but is actually tapered and hand hewn. Which attests to its age. The smaller piece of wood nailed to the larger was added just to keep it from tipping over where it was placed on a shelf and will be removed. The two iron bolts are original. And will be included, though one may be removed for shipping. The vane will be shipped as two parts(plus the 2 bolts) in very secure packaging. Probably a custom-made container, for a flat $15.00.

Antique Iron Horse Weathervane Top
This Antique Iron Horse is from an old weathervane. It has a broken front leg but still remains solid(no movement) It appears to be fixable or left alone. It measures 11.25 inches from nose to tail and 10.25 inches from base to ears. There is some rust and hints of black and gold paint throughout.

Antique Vintage Copper Horse Sulky Weathervane with Directionals
This is a lovely vintage HORSE& SULKY WEATHERVANE with original directionals. Cupola not included. Blown off a Connecticut Farmhouse during Hurricane Sandy. Total length of weathervane: 31" Width: 11 1/2" Height(from top of Horse to lower horizontal bar) 15" Distance between N to S. E to W: 22 1/4" Weathervane shows some sign of age. Including some spokes on the wheels that have come undone, bottom horizontal bar that has come away from one of the wheels, and reins have come away from the riders hand(coarse repair still in place- see photos) Fantastic authentic patina.
