Set Lot of 7 Tall Lightning Rods and Stands with White Balls (will split 3-4)
These rods were burnished and laquered at one time and are in various stages of shinyness. The height of the rods are all similar within the range of 65 to 67 inches. Four of the stands are twisted iron and match. The other three are straight iron and match. The stands all are able to be mounted to a roof if desired. I would consider splitting into two sets upon request. The balls are all white milk glass and are in good condition with the exception of the two vertically ribbed balls which have been damaged but still sit straight on a rod. Vintage Set of 4 Aluminum Lightning Rods
This is a vintage set of lightning rods that came off the house I spent my youth in. I'm not sure when they were placed on the house. But I have vague memories of childhood discussions about the lightning rods so it's possible they could date to the late 60's. They are in good shape, but the aluminum mounts are a little rough where they were shaped to the tin roof and where the cables loosened and flapped in the wind the final few years before the house was torn down. You can judge their condition well from the photos. I do not know the manufacturer as they aren't individually labeled, but the lightning rod and weather vane that came off the house with them was made by Robbins in Maryville, Mo. I also have that weather vane up for auction. Please look at the photos and ask questions before bidding. These are a hard plastic 2 part ball in a cobalt blue color. Each ball measures 4" by 4" The opening hole is 1" I believe these balls were made in the 1950's into 1960's. These balls are in used condition showing some wear and scratching to the exterior. No cracks or chips. This is the last set of plastiballs I have available. This group of 4 vintage lightning rods and glass balls date from the early 1900's. Came off of a barn in central Illinois. Copper rods have a metal tripod holder and an unusual 5 pronged copper finial. White milk glass balls marked"HAWKEYE" All are in as found used condition. The metal tripod has a worn aged darkened surface with copper rods and finials having an aged. Mottled, darkened and greenish patina. The pendants measure approx 4 1/4" by 3" without the cap. The cap measures 1 1/2" The pendants are threaded so the caps fit securely. Pendants were hung on a special pendant hanger and were displayed on a lightning rod along with a glass ball. The pendants were decorative in nature and came in a variety of patterns and colors. Longest rod being 66" with top and shortest being 63" Has 4 rods with bendable roof mounts Some of the 3 legged roof mounts have lost part of the ends where you nail down. Still has remains of hardened roofing tar where it was attached to roof. One mount only has 1/2 of a leg. Approx. 79 feet of 1/2" cable.
