This is an old original blue pleated lightning rod ball. It is in very good condition. There are no cracks or breaks. There is chipping to the collar ends which is very common with these old balls. The collar ends are shown in the pics. It has a nice shiny finish to the glass and is a nice bright blue. It measures 4 1/2" across at the widest point. It will be well packed and fully insured. Vintage Antique? Tin Zinc Metal Horse Weathervane Folk Art ~11 1/4" X 10 1/2"
Purchased at an Estate Sale. I do not know much about this piece. I was told it is very old. But as I am not am antiques dealer I really don't know. Please review pictures to judge condition for yourself. I was told it is a tin zinc metal. Hollow piece.Two sided horse weathervane. Has horse hair tail. That looks to me to have been added at a later time, possibly because the original tail broke. There are some dents as shown. I noticed a crack on the front foot. Some seperation at seams as hown. Blue Glass Lightning Rod Insulator 4 1/2" Robin Sky Swirl Vintage Antique
This lightning rod insulator came from a dairy farm North of Emporia. Kansas. It is owned by an old friend of mine who is a professor at the university. It measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter and has no chips, cracks, or scratches other than a few very slight ones around the stem. As you can see in the picture, they in no way detract from the overall beauty of the piece. It is really in exceptional shape for having survived a hundred years of hailstorms and Kansas wind. This Amber Lightening ball is very old. But i don't know for sure. It was one of several put on a 1800's farmhouse. The pictures I took, I wanted to point out the lines in the ball, the bubbles, and the original glass's gloss. If I can find 2 ball end covers, I will send them. when the glass is blown for these lightening ball glass it is to be expected that where the glass holes end, it wont be a perfect edge. Beautiful Antique Pleated 4 1/2" Blue Milk Glass Lightning Rod Ball NOS w/Caps
This is a beautiful antique lightning rod ball in the 4 1/2" Pleat Pointed pattern. It is a nice Blue Milk Glass and is NOS and thus has never been up. As such it comes factory with aluminum caps. There are no chips or cracks and the ball is in perfect condition. This ball is a great example of this pattern in this striking color and is rare to fine in NOS! Thanks for looking and bidding!
