Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Vtg. Copper 3-D Hollow Pig Weathervane 33" x 19" Green Patina with Directional
Gorgeous Vintage Copper 3-D Hollow Pig Weathervane with Copper Directional& Spacing Balls! This large copper pig has a wonderful weathered look with its' green patina. I prefer this look. So haven't shined it up but you can certainly do so. This pig is 33" long from his curly tail to snout. He's 19" tall from the top of his back to the arrow tubing he's attached to. The body is hollow and has varying depths of about 3/4" to 2" Both sides of this pig have a lot of character and bends to give a 3-D dimensional look. I don't know if all of this"sculpting" was done on purpose, or whether some of it has been acquired through the years. The sturdy copper tubing Mr. Pig is attached to is 5/8" in diameter where an arrow could be inserted. There's also a 1/2" opening on the bottom ... moreto insert in the directional piece. The letters stand about 3-1/4" tall. The copper spacing balls are 4-1/4" 2-1/4" in diameter. They all have a green patina. The larger ball has a slight dent on the edge of the ball- it isn't apparent when it's in place. This pig weathervane is an amazing piece of of folk art to fly in the wind in your yard or on top of your roof. It would even make a great conversational piece in your house!
