Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. This is a very rare old antique large SHEEP Ram vane came from old Farm in Arkansas ITS 22" long with arrow(the ram is 9 1/2"long x 7"tall) Mint condition for its vintage age original no paint. I think the Ram is Zink and setting on a copper rod and arrow is made of cast iron. This old weather-vane is very hard to find ITS hollow body zinc. Copper and cast-iron weather-vane very rare in shape of Ram or Large sheep. I have 4 other old weather vanes that I will be listing from this collection.

We are pleased to offer this wonderful example of blacksmith made American Folk Art. From its great patina, to the nice riveting. The profile as you can see is a running fox hound. Excellent attention to detail. The original maker wrought this piece with various pieces of metal, not sparing and details of the hound, including a punched out eye form, and even the tip of the dogs tongue. The piece looks to have been originally a red with possibly some yellow areas(perhaps the remains of old lettering from the estate in which it was used) And later a darker brown. Rare Antique Wrought Iron WEATHERVANE Very Neat old item
Very Nice Rare wonderful old weathervane. The weathervane is 32" long. Nice wrought iron twisted wire and tin. Has a cast iron star on one end and a tin wing on back. You can see that it had black paint on it at one time. I have about 5 of these old weather vanes from the same collection from old barn in Arkansas.

Antique Weathervane Rooster RARE Brass / Bronze Or Copper ? Hand Hammerd HELP ??
Here we have a estate find very old antique Weathervane rooster. Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age you collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Features a goose on top of an unknown metal with hollow body. The goose measures about 27 ½ inches from the tip of one wing to the other wing and 24 inches from the bill to the tail. Great details to the goose with its legs and feet on one side up near its body as in flight. The goose has a hole in the bottom that the rod slides over and allows it to turn to indicate the wind direction. The overall measurement of this piece is 46 ½ inches tall! The measurement of the directions is 18 inches. The bottom shaft measures 19 ½ inches. The bottom larger ball measures about 4 inches across. The spacer in the middle ... morefor the directions is 3 inches. The top ball is 2 inches across. The metal rod between the top ball and the bottom of the goose is 4 inches. Based on the patina and rust of the rod I think it is cast iron or steel. The decorative balls appear to be copper. I am not sure what metal the directions are. For sale I have the most Spectacular Horse Weather Vane I have ever seen! This piece was manufactured by Cushing& White. Waltham, Mass. in or around 1863. This is the famous trotting horse Dexter. This fabulous piece stands a whopping 9 feet tall on it's mounting bracket and the horse is 41"long. The horse, the ball, and the spearhead at the top of the Weather Vane still maintain about 90% of the original gold guild paint. Because of the size and weight of the horse, the head is made out of cast iron to balance it while on the roof. Rare Antique Horse and Doctor Buggy Weathervane Lightning Rod Vintage
This is an antique weathervane straight from New England. This handcrafted piece depicts the infamous horse pulling a doctor in a buggy. This 19th century folk art. It is well weathered and shows a nice patina. The horse and buggy measures 26" long and 13" tall. The base that the horse and buggy is attached to appears to have been replaced and repaired at some point. This is expected with the age of the piece. This item comes with everything seen in the pictures. This is a great weathervane that shows true American Craftsmanship. This has a few issues. It needs to be soldered in a few places. Up for consideration is this nice RHF lightning rod ball. No cracks or damage other than what looks like a small chip under one of the collars. The collars look like they have been re-caulked but appear to be original. There is some black staining on the surface. Rare antique Kretzer Lightning Rod Weather Vane This is a hard to find piece with the original green"Kretzer" glass in the tail. The glass is textured on one side and"Kretzer" is reversed applied- like a decal. Not painted, to the other, smooth side. It is a gold colored lettering with a black outline. There are a few small areas where the wording has come off. There are no chips in the glass at all. The arrow is most likely painted brass as it does not attract a magnet. Kretzer St. Louis" is cast into one side. It is in very good shape with no cracks or chips. Some patina on the rod and the glass has some film/dirt on the back side. I did not want to clean this. Rare Copper Boat Weathervane Antique Westport River Mass.
Original Antique Copper Weathervane. This is not a reproduction. This weathervane was modeled after a fleet of boats which plied the coastal waters of New England. The fleet was owned by a Westport. Ma. man who lived at Westport Point. This Weathervane was a fixture of Westport Point and was blown off his house during a storm in 1948. The Weathervane came from a gentleman in his 90's that has owned it for decades. He gave the information of its history. He resides in Fall River Ma. which is the next town over from Westport. It is completely intact with no loose or missing parts other than the base of the weathervane. The hole in the base is solid in can be mounted on a rod with a base for display. This an original antique weathervane. The photos make it look new. But its not. It was cleaned many years ago by the previous owner and stripped ... moreof its green outdoors patina. It is much darker than in the photos. It has been displayed inside on a music stand post for over 40 years. This is why it does not have the green weathered look that you think it should have. Look closely at the photos and you can see the way it is made, and all of the wear and small dents from years of being exposed to the elements. The flash of the camera makes the copper shine and look bright. Green patina can be removed with cleaners. It is what it is and it is old. Do not miss out on this one as it is one of a kind. Rare Antique Weathervane Gabriel Blowing Horn
This is an antique rare Gabriel Blowing Horn Weathervane with directional.2 balls and a newer shaft. It has its original patina. In researching this weathervane, I have only seen this Gabriel style being sold by companies making new ones, I found other styles of Gabriel that where antique but yet to find another antique matching this one. Besides sending pictures to different people that are that deal with antique weathervanes and getting different answers back from them, I decided to make the trip down to Decature and I met with Halsey Munson in person because its hard for people to judge a piece by looking at pictures. He said its an early 1900s era with original patina and very nice shape. He gave me some insight about what the older ones from the 1800s would look like and how they were made. I showed him what looks like a J and a L on ... morethe directional to see if it was the markings from J L Mott company. He didnt know and said probably not. The 2nd to last picture you can see the J really good and the last picture you can kinda see an L. The measurements are, from tip of horn to tip of foot is 27" and 14" from top of wing to bottom of dress. The directional is 18" across and the whole thing stands about 48" tall with the newer shaft. Rare Antique Large Copper Weathervane Goose Body Duck Bird - Never mounted
This is a bit unusual: What I have here is one-half of what would be a hollow copper weathervane goose. In full flight. Nicely detailed, the bird is 31" from bill to tailfeathers with a 32" wingspan. The upper wing is soldered to the body, the rest is all one piece. It has never been soldered to its opposite side and, while nicely aged, it's never been hung outside and is in remarkable condition. It has a cool patina but no oxidation. Two brass hangers have been attached to the back, so it can be hung on the wall- inside or outside. It's a very neat and one-of-a-kind piece. Rare Antique 1800’s Brass or Bronze Arrow Iron Weathervane
I really don’t know a lot about this weathervane. And I am no weathervane expert. When I bought this. I knew that it was a special piece. It stands 89 inches tall. And the brass or bronze arrow is 43 inches from tip to tail. The remainder of the weathervane is iron. This is a fresh barn find that has some damage and some repairs. There is one picture that shows a separate piece that is a spear that was broken off and came with the weathervane when I purchased it. I considered taking it to a specialist for restoration; however. I have decided to sell it and let the new buyer change it in whatever way that they want. He said it was from the 1900s- 1920s. Here we have a lightning rod ball that you don't see for sale very often. This was found on a house here in Southern Ky. This is a very rare Munson sun colored amethyst purple lightning rod ball. The ball on the left is the one you're bidding on, the one on the right is for comparison ONLY. As you can see the ball I'm offering isn't complete with the caps or tube. However the ball part is in super uncleaned condition. This is exactly as I found it. Dirt and all. No cracks or bb damage. All Munson balls are rare, even an incomplete one. GENUINE ANTIQUE ZINC HORSE WEATHEVANE WITH ARROW 1800s VINTAGE Barn Sign RARE
Here we have a RARE find and that would bean Authentic ANTIQUE Horse weather vane with a Large Iron arrow pointer. I took this from a fallen down barn years ago up in Pennsyvania and I gurantee it to be OLD and as described. Base measures about 23 inch from end to end. The Horse is about 9 inch from end of the tail to the end of the nose.This was how it was when i found it, not sure if it had fletching on the Arrow shaft at one time, if so no signs of it. You can see that the horse has been reattached to the arrow and maybe has some other old repairs but obviosly done a Long time ago. Was done in a primitive manner but still seems solid. Horse has several spots where it looks like it was shot with a small caliber gun, None of this detracts I don't think but please see my photos which shows all this well. Iron arrow is well rusted from ... morebeing out in the elements for probably over 100 years, still solid though. Horse looks to be made out of Zink and has some good detail to it like these older ones often did. Body was made in two sectionas and then joined together.Again this is an authentic Antique Horse weather vane that was used for probably over 100 years and repaired when it needed it so please do not expect one that looks new OK?
