ANTIQUE ORNATE IRON ARROW Measures 22.75" long. There are no breaks. Cracks, or repairs to this fancy old arrow. An eBay search shows me it looks just like a Kretzer but I don't see the name where it usually is. See my last photo. Don't know if they were ever unmarked or if it could wear down that much? The form is that of a pair of work horses pulling a plow and guided by a man/farmer. The reins are made of early twined wires. The plow. Horses, and farmer are riveted on an arrow. The vane is in a fabulous old black paint, with traces of a silver paint over it in some areas. There is no rod, so this would be displayed as a wall mount, unless you want to attach a rod to it in order to use it on a building. There are eight bullet holes in the horses, and one in the farmer, so this was obviously used for target practice when it was on the barn. The condition is very good, with just minimal paint loss. You are bidding on a TOTALLY AUTHENTIC AMERICANA FOLK ART antique Horse Weather Vane. That is made out of some kind of metal alloy and mounted on an iron arrow and once used as a weather vane. IT LOOKS GREAT mounted on a wall. The piece has wonderful, artistic lines- it's 28" long from the tip of the arrow to the end; the height is 12" from the tip of the horse's ears to the bottom of the arrow; and the horse itself is 13" long, but would be 2" or so longer if his front leg were still attached to the metal mounting. The appears to be some of carousel or circus horse, as there is a sculpted band around its middle. THE ARROW HAS AMAZING PATINA, and both it and the horse are obviously very old and weathered. Antique Pig Weathervane Lightning Rod Arrow Primitive Folk Art W/ Bullet Holes
This auction is for a old Pig Weathervane/Lightning Rod Directional Arrow that came from a Missouri estate. It measures 21 5/8" x 5 3/8" The metal pig which I think is zinc measures 9" x 5" The arrow is cast iron and is straight. The back part of the arrow that the pig stands on is designed with twisted metal. It appears that a piece that originally went to one of the back legs is broken. I have a close up of it in the pictures. As you can see this little piggy was used for target practice and has several bullet holes in his body. The legs. Ears, nose, and tail are intact and the pig is secure on the arrow. It is weathered from lots of years on the barn and the cast iron arrow has some rust. I am guessing this one dates back to the 1920-30's. Up for consideration is this stunning 23" Kretzer lightning rod arrow. Made of brass this arrow has a great patina. There is no damage or repairs. The glass is an NOS Kretzer glass that was very difficult to obtain. This is the only modification to this arrow. Also included is the original Kretzer brass ferrule the arrow was mounted on, this also is in great untouched condition, screws work as they should. On my other auctions this week I have listed the pendant hanger and ajax topper that were on the same rod. I personally removed them from a roof and they are new to the market. This weathervane was definitely very ornate for its time. It is cast iron with an arrow at the tip and a rectangle for a stained glass insert at the other end. The glass is missing however it can be replaced. The metal tabs to hold the glass are present. Although I couldn't find a maker's mark. I believe this was made by K retzer. The weathervane is in good condition and ready to be restored. Good project for someone who is enjoys restoring vintage items. c.1910 Kretzer St. Louis Lightning Rod Wind Direction Arrow Weather Vane 22 1/2"
This is a 22 1/2 inch long lightning rod wind direction arrow marked Kretzer on one side and St Louis on the other. Manufactured around 1910. It is metal and meant to have a piece of colored glass in the tail. The glass needs replaced with the color of yor choice. The metal has a green color and may have been painted long ago. I am also selling a Kretzer lightning rod finial in a separate auction. and I do combine shipping. Both items were on the same barn.

ANTIQUE c.1900 CAST IRON and COPPER WEATHER VANE ARROW 28 1/2" LENGTH Great old cast iron weather vane directional arrow. Figural arrow has a center double loop where it can be placed on a lightening rod or pole. The opposing end of the arrow is thick copper and was made so an animal or figure could be mounted to it. The cast iron arrow and copper rod are riveted together in the center. This appears to be all original and is all very old but solid and free of cracks or damage. Some typical pitting in the cast iron as shown. The overall length is 28 1/2" With the arrow portion measuring about 16 inches long and the copper rod portion measuring about 12 1/2 inches long. This arrow is from the same estate and building as our recently sold copper horse weathervane was. Please review photos to assess condition.
