Antique Folk Art Horse Sheet Metal Weathervane Americana Architectural
Up for sale is an antique horse form weathervane recently found in the Northern indiana area. It is found in good used condition and comes attached to part of its original post. It is sheet metal and offered in as found condition with its original finish. This piece has pegged construction as it joins the post. The only condition issue to discuss is rust to both sides. The directional post the horse rests on is missing both ends and the tail shows minor losses. It measures approximately 12" x 8 1/2" in size. The base bas a diameter of approximately 5/8" A very nice folk art piece which will display well, indoors or out. A nice look for any horse enthusiast or folk art lover. That looks to me to have been added at a later time, possibly because the original tail broke. There are some dents as shown. I noticed a crack on the front foot. Some seperation at seams as hown. Large Antique Copper Horse Weathervane Running Race Cast Metal Zinc Weather Vane
This is a really nice antique copper running horse weathervane with a solid cast metal( lead/zinc)head. Fine Patina is evidence of years in the weather. No idea of age. This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in PA. Found at a local estate. The man having the sale said as a boy his family bought a farm and this horse weather vane was on the barn. He said they lived there for 20 years and when they moved his father took it with them. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I did wipe it down. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this fine looking horse. The piece is 17" from top of the ear to the top of the pipe, The pipe is 33" long and weighs over 8 pounds. Nice detail in proper ... morehorse anatomy with muscles and veins showing. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. This piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions. I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa late 1800s to early 1900s American Folk Art Sheet Metal Cut Out Silhouette HORSE WEATHERVANE. It is Fresh off the Farm. Picked out of an old granary. It measures approx 31" long, approx 26" tall and is made of two cut out and riveted together pieces of sheet metal. The vane is fully guaranteed as being authentic. Dating from somewhere approx. 1900 give or take. It was purchased off of an old family farm here in Wisconsin, I've been trying to by it for over 20 years. Really Nicely Done. Unknown maker probably done by a local tinsmith back in the day. I think that its a fantastic looking item. Perfect for a wall décor or to have a stand made with a rod for proper display. Vintage Weather Vane Horse & Wagon Stagecoach with Directions Metal Antique
You are bidding on a vintage metal weathervane. It has a horse and wagon/stagecoach at the top and the directions in the middle. It is made of metal and is a weathered black/gray color. The top piece measures 21" long and 8" high. One side of the horse has a broken tip. As shown in one of the photos. The bottom section measures about 22" tall, with the directional about 13" across. The tip of the bottom section is a little bent, but I didn't want to risk bending it back. The top still fits on fine, but just at a slight angle. This is a good, guaranteed vintage, weather vane.

Primitive Vintage Cast Metal Prancing Horse Weathervane Shabby Black Finish I had an opportunity to go down state Illinois recently for the homecoming of my Alma Mater and shopped the wonderful sales. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! Here's a wonderful older vintage cast metal weathervane in the image of a pancing horse! It's made from a metal that a magnet does not stick to- spelter. I'm guessing, as it appears to be silver in color. The pieces has a hammered metal look on the arrow. You can see lots of peeks of the metal as the old black finish is shabby, chippy and worn- especially on the horse, where you can see more metal than paint. This is the top to a weathervane- it would have attached ... moreonto a pole at one point in time, with a directional underneath- I do not have those, so what you see is what you get. That being said, as it is, it could made for some very cool wall art if mounted on a wall- the possibilities are limited to your imagination. Measuring 33" long, it is 15 3/4" tall from the bottom of the(pole insert) to the top of the horse's ears. The hole at the base where it would mount is 7/8" measuring on the inside walls, with an interior(pole) hole of about 3/8. It weighs 3 3/4 lbs. and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. Aside from the wear to the finish, no issues at all. It's reallyreallyreally barn fresh dirty and cob-webby and needs a good cleaning- I have not cleaned in any way. Another fabulous farm find! Circa 1910 Cut Metal American Trotting Horse Weathervane In Oxidized Red Paint
For sale is a wonderful circa 1910 cut metal trotting horse weathervane. This American made a weathervane comes to us from an estate in New Hampshire. It was on a barn and it was taken down many years ago and stored away. It was acquired at sale of items from the home and purchased at the sale in upstate New York in the Hudson Valley. This is a real and used weathervane. Not some of the cut metal weathervanes you often see sold which were never actually used as a weathervane. This is not a decorative piece but was an actual functioning weathervane with lots of history. Of course now it's collectible quality has given it a great decorative antique appeal. For collectors of antique American cut and sheet-metal weathervanes this is a great find. This weathervane features a heavier gauge steel than normal sheet-metal and is banded together ... morewith bolt/rivet construction and metal reinforcement construction. It has what appears to be the original red paint which has taken on a faded oxidized look giving this a weathervane a lovely beautiful character. There are three bullet holes in this weathervane which also adds character and history to the piece. These bullet holes are very old. We have taken pictures of this piece in the sun as well as in the evening light. In the sun the piece appears brighter and in the evening of the piece takes on a darker red hue. The up close pictures that we have included in our listing are a very good indication of what this piece looks like It stands on a solid steel pole which was once threaded on the bottom. Where it attached to the copula base)There are two areas with nuts which are threaded to the bar. We will try to remove these hexagonal and square nuts prior to shipping but if not we will ship this piece with the steel rod attached. Our shipping fee includes this piece being shipped as a larger package with the assumption that we will not be able to remove the rusted on nuts. An estate sale find. I don't know how old this is. I'm pretty sure it's zinc- not magnetic and the bluish silver color. It has what I believe is its original black paint that has peeled away in several spots. Giving it a very nice patina. From hoof to hoof- 36 inches long. From hoof to top of the ear. 18 inches tall. The metal is about a third of an inch thick. The face of the horse has a great expression. Weighs about five pounds. There are three holes drilled into it where either it was meant to be attached to a sign- or its other half on a weathervane or something similar was attached. CONDITION OF THE ITEM is AS SHOWN- no flaws or damage other than the wear to the paint. But there are some vague dirt or dust spots- I did not try to clean it. Antique tin/metal horse. Based on the strapping it was part of a horse and carriage weathervane. It is corroded from exterior use and has a dent in the neck on one side. Vintage Mailbox Topper or Weathervane Piece?, Cast Metal Horse & Foal, Awesome!
Awesome and nicely detailed horse& foal mailbox topper! This is a beauty! This may have utility as a weathervane ornament as well. If you fastened it at the base? Item is a heavy cast metal with silver paint with a hint of gold tone to the front. The metal is not magnetic. The item is in nice shape with good integrity and has a nice patina with some minor wear of the paint. I note some areas of unevenness on the back side. But this looks inherent to the piece as a result of manufacture. The piece measures approximately 7 1/4" long by 8" tall.The attachment base area is 4 ¼" long and 2/16" thick. This is a nice display piece for a wall or your collection. Or put it back in service on a mailbox or weathervane!
