Primitive Vintage Antique Weather Vane Rooster From the estate of a local antique collector. This is a nice Rooster Weather Vane. Nice decorative rooster, made from copper that has developed a nice aged green patina. He is standing on an arrow and there is a pole that extends downward to attach it to a pole. He is in good vintage condition, the feather on the arrow has separated from the shaft about 3/4 of the length, but it still remains attached. Rooster measures 18" tall. 16" wide, the arrow is 24" long and the pole extends below the arrow for just over 2" Nice Primitive Weather Vane Rooster. Great Primitive Piece to use inside or out. Vintage Primitive Folk art Rooster Weathervane folkart
1 Vintage weathervane. I am selling this for a friend who is about 90 years old. He made this quite a few years ago. I thought he said the rooster and arrow was made with either copper or brass. The width across for the direction letters is about 19" and the letters are about 3 1/2" tall. The arrow measures about 22 1/2" across and about 4" tall. The Rooster measures about 8 1/4" tall and about 8" wide. The whole unit measures about 27 1/2" tall. It was painted black white and red. There is a paint crack etc one one side of the arrow. I will be taking this apart further to fit in the box. That is. The pipe fittings. Please keep in mind that this is used and was on his roof until about a year ago when it was taken off the roof. This weathervane was definitely very ornate for its time. It is cast iron with an arrow at the tip and a rectangle for a stained glass insert at the other end. The glass is missing however it can be replaced. The metal tabs to hold the glass are present. Although I couldn't find a maker's mark. I believe this was made by K retzer. The weathervane is in good condition and ready to be restored. Good project for someone who is enjoys restoring vintage items. I'm guessing as it's a grey metal that a magnet does not stick to- except for the base, which is brass, and has mounting holes on the sides for mounting. It's a rustic rooster, with a black painted finish that is accented with deep barn red for the details on his head. The center pole has a hand hammered look. It stands 24" tall to the top of the rooster, and ... morethe directionals are 15 1/2" apart end to end n/s, e/w. The base measures 2 1/8" square. The whole piece weighs 4 lbs. It does come apart, the directionals can be removed, as can the rooster as you can see from my photos, the top of the pole sticks out of his back, and you just lift him off. I will dis-assemble him for shipping in order to make the box smaller and hopefully save you some dabloons. The top features a sperm whale measuring 25" by 7" The N/S/E/W spokes measure 18" across. And the pole stands 18 1/2" high. Altogether, the whale measures approx. 26" tall. I have tested the weathervane with WD-40, but it does not turn. The copper has a light green patina and verdigris which adds to the antique character and overall appeal of this piece. The weathervane is in good condition for its age. But the tail section is a little rusty on top from being out in the elements. It has natural green patina on the copper. Here's a wonderful older vintage cast metal weathervane in the image of a pancing horse! It's made from a metal that a magnet does not stick to- spelter. I'm guessing, as it appears to be silver in color. The pieces has a hammered metal look on the arrow. You can see lots of peeks of the metal as the old black finish is shabby, chippy and worn- especially on the horse, where you can see more metal than paint. This is the top to a weathervane- it would have attached ... moreonto a pole at one point in time, with a directional underneath- I do not have those, so what you see is what you get. That being said, as it is, it could made for some very cool wall art if mounted on a wall- the possibilities are limited to your imagination. Measuring 33" long, it is 15 3/4" tall from the bottom of the(pole insert) to the top of the horse's ears. The hole at the base where it would mount is 7/8" measuring on the inside walls, with an interior(pole) hole of about 3/8. It weighs 3 3/4 lbs. and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. Aside from the wear to the finish, no issues at all. It's reallyreallyreally barn fresh dirty and cob-webby and needs a good cleaning- I have not cleaned in any way. Another fabulous farm find! It looks quite old and it looks like it may have been buried at some point. For some reason the end opposite the point is not nearly as pitted as the rest of the piece. Antique Weathervane Rooster Old Paint Vintage Country Primitive Original Paint?
Found at a rural Nebraska estate sale is this great old metal rooster from a weathervane. Still standing on a 15" section of the weathervane. The rooster is about 9" tall and a bit over 7" wide. He still retains remnants of old paint which may quite possibly be original. There is some rust but no holes eaten through. Visible from the bottom is some separation indicating the rooster was formed from two separate sides and joined together. He is very sturdy and has a wonderful country primitive look. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! Oh. This one soooo had me at hello. It's a fabulous vintage weathervane, well loved and used. The dealer's husband was a carpenter, so this was actually one of his items at the sale, but I took one look, and knew I had to have it. It actually appears to be made of different metals- the balls and finial are copper- the top bar of the saw sticks to a magnet, so I think it may be the same iron as the ... morecenter pole(this is not a real saw- the handle is metal too) and the directionals- I think they are aluminum- they do not stick to a magnet, but they have the feel of aluminum. The saw I was totally unsure of, so I scratched a teenie spot and I saw silver, so it's not copper- like I said, a mix, but it all works. The green patina appears to be a finish- but I'm telling you, it really looks like weathered copper, for sure. The weathervane measures 41 3/4" tall as you see it set up in my photos, the saw is 27" wide by 7 1/8" tall and the directionals are 17 3/4" across end of one to the end of the other. All are part of one central iron pole- as you can see, the pole is open at the bottom, so you will need to provide your own hardware for mouning- what you see is what you get, and I'm showing how it will come- disassembled, in photo 23(in order to cut down on the shipping cost) It's heavy, weighing 7 1/2 lbs and it's in excellent solid and sturdy condition. I am back from a monster shopping trip to the World’s Longest Yard Sale– we shop Ohio every year and then stop at some of my favorite spots in Indiana to buy from. Spent 2 whole days taking photos and still not done– I have a LOT and I’ll be listing for weeks. Enjoy! Here's another Ohio beauty! It's a primitive cast metal weathervane in the image of a horse drawn carriage. The silver painted base is cast iron. And the rest is cast metal that I'm assuming may be aluminum- as a magnet does not stick to it. You have the directionals, and then the rotating arrow with the horse ... moreand carriage on the top. It has a blackblack finish- with the base painted silver, and a a hand painted silver 2" stripe" painted halfway up the base pole- see photo 6. I'm holding it in some of my photos because it didn't stand well on my rug- it has 4 screw mounting holes on the bottom, and was truly made to be mounted. That beind said, it is standing well on my flat desk now- and it will if you have a flat surface, but it's not extremely secure- being top heavy- so you know, in case you do not plan to mount it- it would have to be in a secure spot. It measures 22 1/4" tallest/to the top of the carriage, the arrow is 18" long, the directionals are 14" across- N to S, E to W, the body pole is 5/8' wide and the base is 3 1/2" diameter. It weighs a smidge under 2 1/2 lbs. Now, I took the top off for my photos, but needed a screw driver to take the rest apart- so I didn't for my photos, but we will take apart to ship- you will need to put it back together. Vintage Antique Lightning Rod with WeatherVane Barn Farm Primitive Garden Decor
This lightning rod with weathervane came off the barn at my dad's farm. It was removed many years ago and has been sitting in the barn for years. The ball is NOT made of glass like some antique rods. It appears to be plastic. The Lightning rod and weathervane feel and look like aluminum. There is some blue/green patina that suggests the possibility of copper, but I can't be certain. A long time ago, my dad had the metal roof painted with an aluminum paint which is now on the lightning rod(the ball is originally white) I have not done anything to clean it and will leave that to the new owner. A vintage primitive folk art whirligig or pinwheel. Or can be used as a weathervane or just decoratively. Nice original paint in primary colors with some black and white too. A great collectible. Measures about 18" long. Is 3/4" thick and about 12" at tallest point. In excellent vintage condition with only some minor paint wear to the black beard and to the underside edge of the green base. Left in original. Unrestored condition. A light cleaning is all it really needs. It is fully functional. Found in an old garden shed propped up on a shelf. Probably why it is still in such good condition. More and more these are not being put outside. But being used inside as decorative folk art. Primitive Old Vintage Copper Lightning Rod GORGEOUS Oxidized Patina We traveled an hour and a half South into central Illinois for a football game this week. And I took the opportunity of going treasure hunting in the cornfields. I found a surprising variety– there’s something for everyone this week! Here is a fabulous oldoldold vintage well used lightning rod for you. It's made from copper. And has a KILLER green oxidized patina that is well worn from age and use. Meauring 20 1/2" tall, the rod is a smidge under 3/4" at its thickest and the mounting base measures 9 1/2" wide end to end, and it's 1 3/4" thick. You can see seven mounting holes on each side of the mounting arms and on one side, you can see an open tube with the cut ends of copper wiring seen on either side of the tube. It is in excellent solid and ... moresturdy structural condition. The rod- I cannot find a ding. The mounting arms have hills and valleys in the copper from the mounting/when it was mounted and you can see depressions around the mounting holes, but that's all part of its story- I wouldn't change a thing! It does not stand well on it's own, it will lean off to one side, so you'd definitely need to mount in order to display or use, or at least lean it as I am in my photos! You can see the remnants of white paint on the piece- both the tip of the rod, in lighter spots on the body of the rod, and on the mounting arms- this comes from painting the house around the rod without removing it. What you see most when looking at this beauty, though, is the gorgeous green oxidation and the dark patina of the copper that takes on a red hue in the right light. It weighs 1 1/2 lbs, so is pretty hefty for its size. I just can't say enough about this beauty. Love it! Customer Satisfaction is extremely important to me. Pair of Antique Primitive Barn Cupolas / Vintage Industrial Roof Vent Chimney
For sale a wonderful pair of a original late 19th century/ early 20th century tin vent cupolas. Each is hand crafted with a soldered and riveted top. The top connects to the base with straight edge screws and square bolts. The paint is all original. There looks to be several layers of red present from years of repainting. Some of the paint is chipping in spots but this gives each a unique textured appearance. A few dents and some wear can be found but nothing that detracts from their appearance. AT THE TIME OF LISTING THESE I HAVE 2 PAIR AVAILABLE. PLEASE ASK IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE ADDITIONAL PAIR.
