Here is a nice excellent condition antique lightning rod glass ball. It is amber with etched stars all over. The openings both have ground glass and there is some small bubbles in the glass. One end opening is perfect, the other has a couple very small nicks on the edge, these are very minor, there are no other chips, no cracks and it is nice and clear, as you can see. Antique Cast Iron Lightning Rod / Weathervane Arrow Amber Glass w Globe Ends 20"
I purchased this Lightning Rod Arrow with Amber Textured Glass Tail Insert at a farm estate sale here in rural WV. It is a cast metal probably cast iron and has ornate decorative work. The glass ball had been broken years before and the farmer had tied the ends for the glass ball onto the arrow so I left them. They are some sort of light metal and one has a bend but can be straightened. The arrow measures 20" and I see no damage other than some oxidation and light scraping.

Here we have for a lightning rod I came across last weekend. Stand is a 31-1/2" twisted steel stand. Rod is a 51" copper 5/8" tube rod. Rod has it's clamp for connecting to the ground cable. Clamp is embossed D&S. Weathervane is 19" long and made of cast aluminum. The amber glass is 100% guaranteed original to this vane. No damage or repairs to the vane. This is an old Amber Transparent Embossed National Lightening Rod Globe. It is about 5 1/4" diameter and the inner rim of the mouth is 1 1/8th diameter. The arrow itself I would say is in good condition for its age. I do not see anything broke but I do see right between the tip of the glass and where the lightning rod goes in where one of the little things comes out just the tip is missing-it would be close to the narrow tip of the glass.
