Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Primitive Vintage Antique Weather Vane Rooster From the estate of a local antique collector. This is a nice Rooster Weather Vane. Nice decorative rooster, made from copper that has developed a nice aged green patina. He is standing on an arrow and there is a pole that extends downward to attach it to a pole. He is in good vintage condition, the feather on the arrow has separated from the shaft about 3/4 of the length, but it still remains attached. Rooster measures 18" tall. 16" wide, the arrow is 24" long and the pole extends below the arrow for just over 2" Nice Primitive Weather Vane Rooster. Great Primitive Piece to use inside or out. Antique Copper Folk Art Rooster Weathervane I really like this folky rooster vane. It may very well be Canadian. Having both a crown, an orb and a cross, probably east coast. It is artfully cut from sheet copper and is at least 19th century, though the rooster is similar to 18th century ones. I believe it was once brightly painted with red and white, but only small vestiges remain. Height 34 1/8( 86.7 cm) WEIGHT 2 pounds 14 ounces I sell most of my items on eBay with a reasonable reserve. Recent estate sale purchase. Bridport, Vermont. Purchased from one of our prime local vendors, we knew we just had to have this one. We do not know how old this one actually is. The few opinions we have had so far is 1940's but we honestly do not know as we are still novices in these type of items. Overall this piece measures 53" tall as mounted on the 1 1/2" wood base. The weathervane arrow measures 24" long. The rooster measures 19 1/2" tall x 15" long ... morex 3" thick. The body(including the head and the legs) appears to be two pieces of stamped copper(non ferrous? soldered at the seams. The tail is a flat piece of stamped metal soldered on to the body. The rooster is soldered on to the tubular arrow. The rooster does lift up and off the mount. With the exception of the two balls, one just below the arrow and the other below the directional markers, the remainder of this item is iron. The directional arrows are fastened to a tubular shaft with set screws. These are moderately rusted and weathered. This tubular shaft is threaded on to a round small mounting base plate which is fastened to the wood base. Very good overall condition showing atypical age related patinas, wear, corrosion, etc. We see a small spot on one of the arrow tail feathers detaching from the shaft and may need new solder or epoxy. We see the small two halved copper ball has a tendency to want to separate when not under pressure of the rooster pressing down on it. Another solder or epoxy fix. Here is a Charming Old Handmade Folk Art Rooster Weathervane retaining most of its black painted surface over sheet iron. Vane was constructed by joining 3 separate pieces; head. Tail& body, with at least 18 rivets, possibly handmade, fastened to its metal rod strapping reinforced backside and bracket fittings for roof mount. Please note: rooster beak and crown with slight bend and associated paint loss but no crack. Overall. Weathervane has some minor paint loss and surface rust typical from many years outdoors stationed on a roof, and four small holes under 1/4" near bottom, and few small dings, dents. Vane may have had a repaint some years ago, but even that shows age crackelure, flakes, etc. with some old paint drips to back. This piece was bought from a private collection in Mass. I believe this rooster dates to the mid 19 th century. This piece has a wonderful form and great oxidation to the copper. The top of the piece down to the breast has a wonderful smooth surface from the rain and snow. The feathers are cut out and wrap around to the back of the bird they look 3D. Weathervane Windmill with Rooster on Top from Montana Ranch-Antique
This old unit needs some TLC on the windmill. However, the rooster and wind tail are in nice vintage galvanized shape. Someone that wants to restore the windmill could do it with some tin snips, a drill and a little time to make up the blades and braces that are missing. The hub bearings appear to be o.k. as it spins. It was mounted on and is an old galvanized pipe. We will ship by taking the windmill off the weathervane and laying all flat in strong cardboard. This unit is off a ranch in West Montana. A lot of history in this one. It weighs 20 lbs. of metal. The total length is about 3' the wind tail is 18" x 18" and the windmill is about 32" in diameter when complete.

1 Vintage weathervane. I am selling this for a friend who is about 90 years old. He made this quite a few years ago. I thought he said the rooster and arrow was made with either copper or brass. The width across for the direction letters is about 19" and the letters are about 3 1/2" tall. The arrow measures about 22 1/2" across and about 4" tall. The Rooster measures about 8 1/4" tall and about 8" wide. The whole unit measures about 27 1/2" tall. It was painted black white and red. There is a paint crack etc one one side of the arrow. i Up for Auction: Revisions were made to the pics today. Monday June 3rd. An Antique Full Bodied Rooster Weathervane. The Rooster appears to be Bronze. The Rooster has a Nice Patina about it as you can see in the pics. The cast aluminum. Which I'm calling it, is in remarkable condition. There are places where the aluminum shows through as shown in the pics due to years of service and weather situations like large hail stones and other debris which may have come in contact with it. The height of the entire weathervane from the roof to the top of the Rooster is 40" The Rooster is 10" tall and 8 1/2" wide. The Arrow is 33" acrossed. The direction indicators are 19" acrossed. The letters are 3 7/8" tall. The arrow and the stem has a"hammered" look to it. The Rooster has a seam in it from the breast ... moreup over the head and than opens up at the tail which was intentional. This is what is called a full bodied Rooster. This very nice rooster weathervane came from the estate of my Grandparents. This has been on their barn for as long as I can remember and I'm just shy of 60 years old. My understanding is they bought the house in and around 1947. There is no way that I can't verify whether the weathervane was on the barn when they bought it or not. I see no markings on the weathervane that might give away the date of it. Also. There is no way that I could know whether or not this has ever been repainted. Fabulous Primitive Vintage Rooster Chicken Weathervane Original Finish I am still listing new items from Indiana. And have a boatload of new things from the flea market too. Lots of primitive antiques, farm finds, folk art, and the usual wacky Maureen stuff- you don’t want to miss this week! What's not to love about an old weathervane- don'tcha love the look of them? And this one has character to spare! It's an older vintage weathervane- made from spelter. I'm guessing as it's a grey metal that a magnet does not stick to- except for the base, which is brass, and has mounting holes on the sides for mounting. It's a rustic rooster, with a black painted finish that is accented with deep barn red for the details on his head. The center pole has a hand hammered look. It stands 24" tall to the top of the rooster, and ... morethe directionals are 15 1/2" apart end to end n/s, e/w. The base measures 2 1/8" square. The whole piece weighs 4 lbs. It does come apart, the directionals can be removed, as can the rooster as you can see from my photos, the top of the pole sticks out of his back, and you just lift him off. I will dis-assemble him for shipping in order to make the box smaller and hopefully save you some dabloons. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition, with rustic wear to the finish that can be see- lots of worn black paint esepcially on the rooster, where you can see down to the metal, as well as the highest relief spots on the directionals and poles- that's the charm about him, though- he's primitive, he's old, he's all original, he's yours! This is a charming Weather Vane featuring a Rooster and an interesting arrow which I picked up years ago near Salisbury. Maryland, which is the headquarters for Tyson's Chicken. All around there is serious chicken raising country. This Rooster seems to have had several coats of paint during his long lifetime. The last one being red. He is made from cut out iron sheeting. The Rooster and his arrow are one piece. Rather than being commercially produced, I tend to think that this Rooster was a one off produced by a very talented metal worker. There are hacksaw cuts where the two brass rods intersect, It looks like someone was trying to remove it and didn't know what they were doing. Here we have a estate find very old antique Weathervane rooster. Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age you collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Very nice original painted wooden rooster weather vane. It is signed along the bottom edge with"IRWIN PAGE" in basic block incised lettering. Carved from one solid 12" plank. It has old style fancy fret work tail feathers coped out with carving marks left unsanded(last photo shows the rough carving to round the feather ends) The eyes are carved out on both sides(Photo 4) Partially paint-obscured on one side. No dry rot, but paint is fairly shabby with some chipping, peeling, and lots of age soiling as in the photos. I tested it with a dowel in the mounting hole: rooster is properly balance and spins very freely. Photo 7 is the mounting hole. Worn but not rotted. Please note that this is the top only of a weather vane. No mounting accessories- I slipped it over a dowel for the first picture. LOVELY REAL VINTAGE ROOSTER WEATHERVANE WITH BASE For sale is this REAL earlier 20th century copper rooster weathervane with vintage directional base and brass balls. We absolutely guarantee this is not one of those Chinese(or whatever they are) new reproductions with the faked patina. This is the real deal! We got this in an all or nothing buy and we weren't wild about selling a genuine one against the sea of fakes out there but we purchased it from very nice people and we know the difference between this one and the repros. Nice patina on this old weathervane. It is a full bodied form of a copper rooster. This piece has a nice folky quality to the form. It appears to be a handmade piece and it is joined with some kind of rivet or tack. It is mounted to a twisted piece of steel or iron that is then attached to a solid block of wood. There are no markings of any kind on this vane or a signature. It is in good condition with a nice patina. I've seen them similar to this one in copper. And/or sold as copper, but I don't think this one is. The flat metal is soft and bends easily. Has something rattling inside, mentioned just to disclose. Antique Copper Rooster Weathervane Gold Leaf Gilding
Early antique copper rooster weathervane. Surface has multiple layers of old paint with remains of gold leaf gilding. There is oxidized copper showing through where the paint has flaked away. In excellent condition. Seams are all tight. Lots of wear at the bottom of the vertical tube. Measures 22" tall overall, and 19" across from the breast to the tip of the tail. Stand is not included.
