Have been trying to figure ... moreout exactly what this thing is- it was purchased from an estate. And represented to be an antique bed warmer from Spain, and made in the 1800's. However, I have no way of knowing or verifying the origin/date/maker- no such markings can be found. Maybe too bulky to be a bed warmer- might be some type of roasting pot. Anyway, a very cool old item which would make a great display item or conversation piece. It has a rounded bottom. And is made of copper. Around the upper portion, there is a series of round holes. The handle appears to have been hand-made from a flat piece of iron hammered into a cone shape. And has copper rivets holding it to the base and the hinged lid. At the cone opening, the wood handle portion is attached by a single nail, and the wood handle moves slightly from side to side. Part of wood handle unscrews(see pictures) and that part has a small crack where it screws together, but does not affect functionality. Also, a small chip of the wood has come off at the very end(see pictures) Weighs 2 pounds. 13 ounces. 4 inches tall. Iron portion of handle is approx. 7 inches. Wood portion approx. 6-1/2 inches. Primitive Vintage Antique Weather Vane Rooster From the estate of a local antique collector. This is a nice Rooster Weather Vane. Nice decorative rooster, made from copper that has developed a nice aged green patina. He is standing on an arrow and there is a pole that extends downward to attach it to a pole. He is in good vintage condition, the feather on the arrow has separated from the shaft about 3/4 of the length, but it still remains attached. Rooster measures 18" tall. 16" wide, the arrow is 24" long and the pole extends below the arrow for just over 2" Nice Primitive Weather Vane Rooster. Great Primitive Piece to use inside or out. This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. Antique Vintage Old Large Copper & Brass Weathervane Running Horse Weathervane
This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. The Horse is almost 28" wide nose to tail and appx. 13 1/2" tall. There are two decorative balls. One 2" and one 4" The directional Markers are appx. 18 1/2" wide and 3 1/4" tall. ... moreEach letter is appx 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" The condition is as shown in the pictures. This weathervane was removed from our victorian home in Hastings. NE. the home was built in the late 1880's. It is made of Copper and has a lovely patina as you can see. The base has three holes for easy installation. It spins very easily. The vane is COMPLETE! The horse measures 13" The arrow 19" overall height is 20" I try to describe my auction as fairly as I can. Not an expert just getting rid of many things we have had for years. The very tip of the arrow is missing and that is the only flaw that I know of in this weathervane. MASSIVE 32" Horse Weathervane/ Lightning rod Antique Vintage Copper Brass Horse measures approx. 31" x 17" and the whole piece measures approx. 33" long x 20" tall. It is being sold as found. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. A nice vintage"medium" size barn cupola from a barn roof in rural Syracuse. Nebraska. Measures 46 1/2" square and about 12 foot tall. Is attached and stands on four 4x4 wood lumbers. Some rusted out spots near crown, underneith, could be primed and stopped. About 10 bullet holes in total. The weathervane is present and removeable. Cast iron& copper weathervane. The animal from the fin of the weathervane is missing. But another may be attached. I supplied the two vintage blue glass balls. Vintage Weathervane Antique lightning rod Ball 21" Country Decor Farm Copper
For your consideration I have two copper lightening rods. They measure 21" tall. They do feature quite a bit of patina from years of being out in the elements but could be cleaned up nicely. The mounting brackets look as though they have been painted silver at some point. They both feature two rings with screws to hold the lightening ball in place. One goes on top and the other on the bottom of the ball. I am including a ball with each rod. One is a very pretty Easter purple color and the other is white. The balls are not cracked throughout but do exhibit some chips around the top and bottom rims as most all balls do. The rest of the ball is great condition. I do not have caps that go around the top and bottom rims of the balls. You do not need them but if you would like they can be purchased fairly inexpensive on Ebay. Vintage Antique Copper Primitive Folk Art Sperm Whale Weathervane Moby Dick Up for auction is this antique nautical weather vane. The top features a sperm whale measuring 25" by 7" The N/S/E/W spokes measure 18" across. And the pole stands 18 1/2" high. Altogether, the whale measures approx. 26" tall. I have tested the weathervane with WD-40, but it does not turn. The copper has a light green patina and verdigris which adds to the antique character and overall appeal of this piece. The weathervane is in good condition for its age. But the tail section is a little rusty on top from being out in the elements. It has natural green patina on the copper. Vintage Antique 68" Copper Lightning Rod with Blue W.C. Shinn Milk Glass Ball
This is a beautiful old copper lightning rod with metal stand and blue milk glass W.C. Shinn Mfg. Co. ball. The copper has a fantastic green patina and the stand has some surface rust. But it is still sturdy and functional. There are holes in the ends of the stand legs for attaching the stand to the roof or other structure. The glass ball is a bold robin's egg blue with the words W.C. Shinn Mfg. Co. wrapped around the middle. There are some tiny chips missing from the top rim and two larger chips missing from the bottom as shown in the 4th, 7th, and last photo. The ball still sits nicely on the metal disk, and there are no cracks in the glass anywhere. The white disk you can see under the ball on the photos is a thin foam disk that is there to protect the bottom rim of the ball, but it is not necessary and can be slipped right off. I ... morewill remove the stand and ship that part along with the ball in a separate box from the lightning rod to protect the ball from breakage and lower shipping cost. Looking around ebay I'd say it's likely not an antique but it is very well built and hand-crafted from formed copper soldered together with brass tubing for the structural support elements. It has been stored indoors so it's starting to get a nice patina but has not yet developed full verdigris. All soldered joints are solid. You'll notice that one of the wheels is bent in slightly and the front leg of the horse is slightly tweaked. Both could be easily bent back to shape if you so desire. The next two are hollow copper and still sodderd to the old rod. 4rth from the top is hollow copper with a threaded brass end. The bottom two are solid, heavy copper. Vintage Antique COPPER HORSE & SULKY w/RIDER WEATHER VANE Weathervane
Antique or vintage weathervane that I believe is an earlier version of this type. The soldered seams are on the crude side with lots of tarnish and patina. I'll keep my age estimate pretty wide to be safe and say early 20th century to the depression. There is some oxidation also. The driver seams to have the most. From the front pipe to the back of the wheel is about 32" Several non distracting type dents that are normal for this age but the wheels are pretty bent. They do bend easy to fix. Off hand I see 4 spots where this piece needs to be spot soldered, it's only attached at the vertical bar. The bottom of one wheel to the pipe, the end of one spoke(I did that bending the wheels) and the 2 rear feet get soldered to the pipe. You can see where both feet where attached. Antique Vintage Copper Flying Goose Duck Weathervane Great Patina 55" Tall
Here is an old vintage goose/ duck weathervane with a wonderful look to it. This definitely appears to be copper. With the exception of the main pole which I believe is iron as it is the only magnetic part on the weathervane. The body of the goose appears hollow and has some areas of copper color, some areas that are a dark reddish color and others areas showing green tarnish- a very nice combination of colors giving it a great patina. The full weathervane stands about 55" tall, the bird's wingspan is about 26 1/2" wide, and the length of the goose is about 24 1/2" There are areas of solder on the goose, but I see it in most seamed areas, so believe it is how the bird was put together, you can see this in the pictures I have shown. 1930's WHALE copper cupola weathervane refurbished antique vintage barn garage used- salvaged from old Massachusetts Barn- has been repaired my coppersmith with new welds and center rod copper whale and roof are already aged green- paint is white clapboard that could use new paint but not needed This is an old Whale topper from the 1930's but the rest of the weathervane is newer- not a reproduction or fake roof measures 22' x 22' whale measures 34' x 12' total height is 57' has cut in from old roof with a small roof pitch cut so this could be customized for any pitch roof this is a beautiful salvaged antique weathervane cupola and will make a great barn or garage topper pickup from new bedford.
