Mapex Venus series tom and bass drum hardware mount mounts
Here are some original tom side mounts and bass drum mount for an old Mapex Venus series kit that i upgraded to Gibraltar hardware. They seem to work ok. The bass drum one looks a bit bent or squashed but it worked with the Gibraltar pipes. Sorry i do not have the mapex support pipes that fit between them. That's why i did the Gibraltar upgrade, otherwise i would be using these. The odd mottled look in the pics of the bass drum mount are reflections off my wall. Hole sizes: they are 3/4" 0.75" or 19mm) on the Tom fittings and 7/8(0.87" or 22mm) on the Bass fittings. Unless you already have the Mapex tubes(7/8 on one side and 3/4 on the other) they would be problematic to use as most of the aftermarket stuff is usually 7/8 on both sides although i did run across one that was 3/4 on both. There is a crack(repaired) running through the floor tom, it was there when I bought them and I never had any problems as it was repaired well. The kick is missing 2 lugs, but doesn't seem to need them. You could find some at a drum store if you really want to. I don't have legs for the floor tom, I usually put it on a snare stand because it's 14" but you could just get some legs for it(holes are already there) These 3 drums were made by a small custom drum company in Las Vegas. For sale are the mounting hardware for 6 antique curtain tiebacks. These would have had those round glass/crystal medallions on them for decoration and these backs would support a curtain/valance of sorts. I believe you can buy reproductions of the glass medallions or if you are fortunate enough you can find real antique ones as I do from time to time. But if you need these mounting bracketts then look no further. Each one measures about 2 9/16" long not including the screws at the top and bottom and not including the screw on acorn looking support thing. They are made of cast iron and the acorn final things are non-magnetic so perhaps plated brass or nickel? As you can see from the last picture the length of the top screws that support the finials are different heights with 3 being longer and 3 being shorter. They are in good shape ... morewith typical wear and oxidation from age and use. As pictured. They have not been cleaned. This is a custom built 12" rack tom The shell is a Ludwig vistalite style shell manufactured by Aquabomb The lugs are single point lightweight aluminum lugs manufactured by Trick They are 50% offset on the shell The mounting hardware is a Yamaha YESS mount. The vent hole is drilled directly beneath the mount to hide it. The mount is very structurally sound and sturdy. Rock solid. The seam is right next to the mount to hide it if mounted from the side. A: I did design the kit. Yes. I also drilled the vent holes- although this was the only part of the manufacture that I took part in. There are no structural problems with any parts of the set. Cosmetic issues: I'll address this question below as it pertains to the whole set, and it will pertain to this drum as well. The vent holes on the acrylic toms are large and are rough to the touch, but they are both reasonably well hidden. The inside of the kick drum is probably the most notable area where it is clear that I drilled the vents on my own work table, as the inside ply splintered.
