I probably shouldn’t have bought this small antique American Eagle from a 19 th century Weathervane. There are several problems after ... moreyears of being shot at. Since the day the farmer removed this vane it has been displayed on a 5 ½” diameter by 6 ½” tall carved walnut base. The eagle has a 17” wingspan. Which would have been longer, but one wing is in poor condition. It is bent and there are separations on the seams and a couple of bullet holes, one which caused a small piece on the front of the wing to fly off. The other wing has a couple of bullet holes also, but is in better condition with only some slight bends to the copper. There is another bullet hole in the body and both feet are missing. The original owner must have removed this weathervane, before it was complete shot up. If you see the primitive charm in this small American Folk Art Eagle Weathervane like it do, then you’ll be glad to know it is listed without any reserve. Vintage gold gilt full bodied American eagle weathervane. The eagle is standing on a ball and has wings in full spread. The metal beneath is either copper or zinc. There are two dents; one on the ball and one near the tail. It has very nice detail and form. It is inscribed under the tail: John L. Riddle gift to D.H. Caldwell. Year of the great blizzard Feb. 7, 1978. The piece measures 23" tall, 25" wide and 19" deep. The surface finish is still in nice condition. This is a wonderful old copper American eagle weather vane. The eagle is 16" long.17" tall and the wings are 12" extended. All copper construction,there is some damage one wing needs to be re-soldered one foot is missing and the other is loose. The patina on the old eagle is a wonderful green/grey. This is a great weather vane with a couple repairs can be a great display piece.

To be honest I have no idea what this actually is Perhaps a Flagpole or Weather vane topper I am unsure This has been sitting on a mantle for as long as I remember. It is an ornate American Eagle Brass sitting on the world with cloud draping the earth. iy stands about 7" high 4 1/2" wide mounting hole in base is a little under 3" Eagle is marked Cornell 1062 om base has an A and C within a circle on back.Nice details face and wings I brought to a dealer and was offered 40.00 for it and he was mad when I said no so I know its worth a lot more than that Email any Questions you might Have.
