It is missing one front leg and has come unattached from the arrow. It could be reattached easily. It has a few bullet holes as well to give it a lot of character. Purchased at an Estate Sale. I do not know much about this piece. I was told it is very old. But as I am not am antiques dealer I really don't know. Please review pictures to judge condition for yourself. I was told it is a tin zinc metal. Hollow piece.Two sided horse weathervane. Has horse hair tail. That looks to me to have been added at a later time, possibly because the original tail broke. There are some dents as shown. I noticed a crack on the front foot. Some seperation at seams as hown. Large Antique Copper Horse Weathervane Running Race Cast Metal Zinc Weather Vane
This is a really nice antique copper running horse weathervane with a solid cast metal( lead/zinc)head. Fine Patina is evidence of years in the weather. No idea of age. This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in PA. Found at a local estate. The man having the sale said as a boy his family bought a farm and this horse weather vane was on the barn. He said they lived there for 20 years and when they moved his father took it with them. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I did wipe it down. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this fine looking horse. The piece is 17" from top of the ear to the top of the pipe, The pipe is 33" long and weighs over 8 pounds. Nice detail in proper ... morehorse anatomy with muscles and veins showing. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. This piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions. A great piece for the barn or house roof or used inside mounted as a classic primitive. Make sure you use the zoom feature to see the great detail. Antique Vintage Pheasant Zinc Weathervane ~ Large. Full Bodied, All Original Up for auction is this very attractive antique/vintage weathervane of a pheasant. This is an early 20th century zinc weathervane I purchased about a decade ago from a collector in Birmingham. Michigan. It is a beautifully cast pheasant, full-bodied and made of solid zinc, with nice detailing, and a lovely surface patina. It has been professionally mounted onto a very heavy, custom-made, wrought iron weathervane stand. With the stand, this piece measures about 24" tall by 19 1/2" wide, and without the stand, it measures about 11" tall by 19 1/2" The stand itself is 9" by 5" by 13" tall. I think it's an especially nice size for displaying on either a table or kitchen island. Indeed, that's how we have used it over the years. ... moreThis weathervane is in excellent vintage condition. Antique folk art cow weathervane 1900's James A10B ruby globe copper & zinc
This weathervane has all the character and patina a collector could want. Fortunately it has some old west style bullet holes that gives it an even more unique appearance. The ruby red globe is without cracks or repairs. It is stamped A10B. I have no idea what that means. This piece will be packed with extreme care and sent to the new owner without any shipping or handling charges if it goes to someone in the contiguous United States. Alaska and Hawaii will be charged $30.00. I will answer questions to the best of my ability. The fittings are worn from age and use, so it will need to be tightened up if it is put to practical use. Since the day the farmer removed this vane it has been displayed on a 5 ½” diameter by 6 ½” tall carved walnut base. The eagle has a 17” wingspan. Which would have been longer, but one wing is in poor condition. It is bent and there are separations on the seams and a couple of bullet holes, one which caused a small piece on the front of the wing to fly off. The other wing has a couple of bullet holes also, but is in better condition with only some slight bends to the copper. There is another bullet hole in the body and both feet are missing. The original owner must have removed this weathervane, before it was complete shot up. If you see the primitive charm in this small American Folk Art Eagle Weathervane like it do, then you’ll be glad to know it is listed without any reserve. Antique Weathervane- Zinc or Tin- Original Lightning Rod Arrow
This is a nice vintage weathervane made of zinc or tin. It may have had a glass piece at one time but I don't see anything that would have held the glass in place- there are no clips or screw holes where clips would have gone. Anyway. The weathervane is in nice shape with normal pitting and wear typical of the age of the piece. I did not try to clean it, I know the patina is important to most people. It measures about 21 inches long. I have another old weathervane arrow on now and will be happy to combine shipping. Thanks for looking.

LARGE ANTIQUE COPPER & ZINC MOLDED EAGLE WEATHERVANE 36 INCH WINGSPAN
This large antique copper and zinc molded weathervane stands approx. 26 inches tall and has a 36 inch wingspan. This rare lerge size weathervane is made of molded copper with zinc feet. The weathervane retains much of its original gilding. However, there is old yellow paint over most of the gilding. Some of the gilding on the wings has recently peeled off exposing the brown copper underneath, however, there are other areas where the gilding came off years ago and the copper has turned green. The eagle itself is in very good condition, however, there is a small dent in the ball. There are some cracks in copper rod that holds the eagle to the ball. Overall very good condition. As with all my items I am starting this auctin at $9.99 with NO RESERVE!

ALL ORIGINAL/ NO MODIFICATIONS NO IDEA WHO THE MANUFACTURER WAS OR IF PATENT WAS EVER OBTAINED. This item may have been motorized rather than wind driven. Perhaps an advertising piece for bicycles? No idea what parts are necessary for this item to be complete. I simply have not been able to find any comparables as most whirligig/weathervanes were not factory made but were home made and from wood. Some TLC should bring this rare collectible back to working condition. See last pictures in picture gallery above for repairs needed. Here's my theory as to how this weather vane works: The threaded shaft would take the propeller which rotates two gears making the unicyclist move around ... morethe circular disc. Opposite end would have the flat arrow fletch vane[part of the weather vane] attached by the two holes you see in picture. The vane makes it directional via the wind. Offset the vane end. There is a mounting hole for the rotational mounting shaft. One of the features would be the cyclist's speed would be relational to the wind speed. Here we have a RARE find and that would bean Authentic ANTIQUE Horse weather vane with a Large Iron arrow pointer. I took this from a fallen down barn years ago up in Pennsyvania and I gurantee it to be OLD and as described. Base measures about 23 inch from end to end. The Horse is about 9 inch from end of the tail to the end of the nose.This was how it was when i found it, not sure if it had fletching on the Arrow shaft at one time, if so no signs of it. You can see that the horse has been reattached to the arrow and maybe has some other old repairs but obviosly done a Long time ago. Was done in a primitive manner but still seems solid. Horse has several spots where it looks like it was shot with a small caliber gun, None of this detracts I don't think but please see my photos which shows all this well. Iron arrow is well rusted from ... morebeing out in the elements for probably over 100 years, still solid though. Horse looks to be made out of Zink and has some good detail to it like these older ones often did. Body was made in two sectionas and then joined together.Again this is an authentic Antique Horse weather vane that was used for probably over 100 years and repaired when it needed it so please do not expect one that looks new OK? Rare Antique Zinc Over Wood Running Horse Weathervane With Original Paint. C1900
NOTE: THE WEATHERVANE POLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE. IT IS USED ONLY TO DISPLAY THIS ITEM. For sale is a great and hard to find American original galloping horse weathervane in painted zinc over wood construction. We believe this weathervane to date circa 1900. It could be older could be a little later. It came from an upstate New York home wear it hung inside from the weather for the last 30 years or so. The family that formerly owned this piece resided in Vermont and we believe that is where this weathervane was originally used outdoors before being taken down and hung in a barn. It was eventually wired to hang inside the home as part of their interior artwork and collection of horse related collectibles. That is all we know on the origin of this beautiful weather vain. This piece is pure Americana. We believe the metal to be zinc or ... moresome type of sheet metal. It has a beautiful smooth rust age patina to the metal and a gorgeous layer of original white paint all over the horse which as not all been weathered away. It retains a lot if the paint. As you can see one side retains more original paint then the other side. The underlying wood structure seems to be a cut out tongue and groove pattern horse which is then hand hammered and tacked over in the zinc skeletal structure. Over all it is in excellent condition with only age-appropriate wear in areas. There is some wood splitting(near leg.see picture) but structurally every area of this weathervane is in good condition due to the metal zinc exo-skeletal structure. It measures: 31 1/2" long x 21 1/4" high x 1 1/4" thick. It still retains its original support hole on the base. Remember. The pole seen in the photos is not included in the sale. Posted with

This came out of an old estate here in Boulder a few weeks ago. I don't see many of these items here. But every now and then they come up. This weathervane is copper, app. 32" long and 16" tall and the directionals are long gone. I've shown this to a few dealers, one says 1930's, the other said 1900. I'm not sure, I do know it is good, and honest. I took a lot a photos, not blurry ones that make you think something is not honest about it. It's a good piece. Well packed.

Antique Painted Metal Zinc Galloping Horse Sign weathervane- ranch? barn? Patina
An estate sale find. I don't know how old this is. I'm pretty sure it's zinc- not magnetic and the bluish silver color. It has what I believe is its original black paint that has peeled away in several spots. Giving it a very nice patina. From hoof to hoof- 36 inches long. From hoof to top of the ear. 18 inches tall. The metal is about a third of an inch thick. The face of the horse has a great expression. Weighs about five pounds. There are three holes drilled into it where either it was meant to be attached to a sign- or its other half on a weathervane or something similar was attached. CONDITION OF THE ITEM is AS SHOWN- no flaws or damage other than the wear to the paint. But there are some vague dirt or dust spots- I did not try to clean it. Up for sale an antique zinc horse weathervane lightening rod with glass ball. This is old-I am not an expert but I believe it is turn of the century era. The horse is zinc.The lightening rod is copper and other parts of the pole appear to be cast iron. This is mounted on a wood frame and stands 56 inches tall, and has 3 legs that support it on the wooden base(or for mounting) The horse measures 9 by 7 1/2 inches,the glass ball is 5 inches round,the vertical part with the arrow is 21 inches across,the wooden base it sits on is 20 1/2 inches by 7 1/4 inches and 1 1/2 inches high. The horse has been braised and there is some touch up paint on it,the glass ball has been cleaned on the outside but not the inside, there are rubber bands around the inner rims of the glass ball which was as found. Worn to a beautiful old French grey in colour this would look fantastic fixed onto some type of pediment and used as a purely decorative interior piece. For your consideration an antique James lightning rod and weathervane. All the parts are authentic and appear to be original to the set-up. I purchase it at an old suburban farm yard sale many years back. The steel cross arrow and James logo are flanked buy a full bodied zinc cow at the other end of the 32-1/4 inch horizontal. It has a 5-1/2 inch. Zinc, cone base-cover and a hollow zinc finial. The dark amber glass ball is 4-1/2 inches in diameter. It stands 33-1/2 inches tall. The black and gold painted surface must be at least 50-60 years old. The condition is very good. I can only see a slight dent in one side of the cow. The glass ball is in great shape as are the cone and finial. It doesn't appear to have any old repairs. It's held together with cotter pins to keep it lined-up.
