Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. You are buying an Lightning rod point 15 1/2" old rustic verdigris green nickel on tarnished brass This lightning rod point is in good condition and nicely aged from 100 plus years in the weather. The point has weathered nicely over the years and what is left is a great verdigris green patina that will display well. This point was made from solid brass. Or bronze. There was some hunks of tar on the base and up the side of the point. The nickel was intact under the tar when I dissolved it with acetone. Vintage Emerald Green Lightening Rod and Ball
Up for auction today is a beautiful lightening rod and emerald green cut-to-clear ball. This piece stands approx 16" high and 2 3/4" wide. It is an egg shaped ball. I was told when it was purchased that it is either Hungarian or Czech. This makes sense because the Czech's do the glassware in cut-to-clear. It was never used. As the base is flat and the cable connector does not appear to have ever been used. This would make a beautiful piece to add to your collection or to purchase for the collector in your life. 8 Lightning rods point old vintage copper light verdigris green rustic
These are very old. They came off a house that we just bought that was originally built in 1870. The house was added on probably in 1930 or so. Not sure of the age.they can be around 70 years old. Calling them vintage. Because I am not an expert on copper lighting rods. In the last picture.you can see that the last one is bent.you probably can reshape it.I didn't want to damage it.and also the second to the last one in the last picture has a small dent on the bottom. In the picture there is 6 hardware and screws. The other 2 hardware brackets are attached to the rod. They are 16 and 15 inches high. I have for auction a beautiful Green glass lightning rod ball/ globe. It measures approx 5.5" the openings are approx. 1 1/4" on the outside and 1" on the inside of the hole. I see the bubbles in the glass as well as the dimples too that just shows how old this is. It could use a cleaning but will leave that up to the winning bidder. I do not see any cracks or chips except around the openings(see pics) nothing to bad. If you have the caps they will cover the chips on the ends. ANTIQUE ORIGINAL c.1900 WEATHERVANE LIGHTNING ROD ORNAMENT BALL Antique lightning rod ball in an olive green color glass. Complete with copper caps for both ends. The glass ball is large. About 5 inches diameter. The ball has no chips or cracks or pinholes. The collars(glass ends) do have some small typical nicks and wear from age and use. Please see photos. The copper caps do cover these tiny flaws. The caps are lose and can be removed. They show some cracks and wear. Exactly as shown. This piece has not been cleaned or altered in any way and is a fresh barn find. Some photos have been enlarged to show details. Acquired at an old estate sale on the North Fork of Long Island. NY farm country. Weathervane is in good workable condition, with plenty of antique patina& rust. Measures approx. 25" tall X 11" wide, and has a light green original color. The bottom of the weathervane rod looks like it was either used garden-syle(in the ground) or had a base(see photo) Would make a great collectible for a recondition project or kept as is.
