This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. Antique Vintage Old Large Copper & Brass Weathervane Running Horse Weathervane
This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. The Horse is almost 28" wide nose to tail and appx. 13 1/2" tall. There are two decorative balls. There is a bracket that mounts to the roof peak(or whatever you wish) that a solid metal black pipe then slides into and is held in place by two screws. The copper finial then slides onto that pole. The spire looks to be mostly copper with a brass tube section at the base. The copper feels heavy and not thin or cheaply made. This auction is for the one spire. MASSIVE 32" Horse Weathervane/ Lightning rod Antique Vintage Copper Brass Horse measures approx. 31" x 17" and the whole piece measures approx. 33" long x 20" tall. It is being sold as found. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. View all of the photos and use zoom and enlarge. There are two small scratches on one side(see the last two photos) I wipes the item with a soft cloth and water to get off the dust. Antique Weathervane Rooster RARE Brass / Bronze Or Copper ? Hand Hammerd HELP ??
Here we have a estate find very old antique Weathervane rooster. Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age you collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. This is a large new solid copper weathervane. It is very large. Just the star part alone is 34in long(the arrow) and 27 inches tall. Add the pole. Decrotive balls and direction it gets even taller over 40 inches! This is beleived to be made by Weathervanes of Maine a couple decades ago. It has always been in a box and never used outside. It has only been displayed indoors a short time. The star, directionals, and balls are all solid heavy copper with a painted on patina. There is a missing screw at the ball and arrow junction but can be replaced. The arrow spins easily. Vintage with weathered patina. Wingspan measures 23 1/4 inches and 15 inches front to back(beak to tail) with a 4 1/2 inch tailspan. It is 18 1/2 inches high including the ball and arrow. Vintage Horse Sulky Copper Weathervane with Brass Directionals
This weather vane came from a farm in Illinois. I'm not sure how old it is. It has brass directionals included. There is a slight separation at the horse's tail and a break at one of the wheels(see pictures) The horse has a lot of details that most weather vanes like this don't have. The ears are original and are usually broken off from wear(see picture) The weather vane measures 31 x 16 inches. The directionals measure 18 x 18 inches. WEATHER VANE: Antique Banneret. Gilded Iron. Copper& Brass, 22.5" x 23" This is a wonderful old Banneret Weather Vane which I found years ago west of Nashua. New Hampshire, near Millford Circle. I don't know the maker or its age for sure. I might guess it dates to the early 1900's or late 1800's It is made almost entirely of Iron. The four flowers are copper and I believe the ball at the top is brass. There is a coat of dark or black paint under the gilding on the iron parts. And there is some verdigris which has developed on the flowers and ball a the top As it stands now on its wooden base. This Vane is 22 1/2 inches stall and 23 inches long. The wooden base adds another inch and a half. There is a newer steel support rod which runs up through the whole and keeps it together. On the whole this Banneret is in pretty ... moregood condition and displays beautifully The photos give a very good idea of the form and condition of this great old Weather Vane. Vintage Rooster Aluminum Weathervane Copper Base Brass Rod Rooftop Barn 38" Tall
You are bidding on a vintage rooster weathervane. It is approximately 60 years old or slightly older. It was attached on the top of a roof and was taken down and stored when the new owner of the property rebuilt there. It comes apart and if you look at the pictures you can see how it goes together. The base is made of copper with is painted black. The copper is placed over a wood base. The paint has flaked in several places. The base measures approximately 17 inches on each of the 4 sides. The rod that holds the weathervane looks like it is made of brass but I'm not sure. The directional N-S-E-W sits on this rod and there are large screws that tighten it onto the rod. The S mark was repaired at one time as you can see from the picture. The rooster and arrow sit on top of the directional N-S-E-W and will spin freely on the rod. I believe ... morethe rooster. Arrow and directions are all made of aluminum. This piece looks to have been painted a black with red markings. I am leaving it the way it was found and you may choose to repaint it to your liking. I do not see any type of markings on this piece as to who the manufacturer may have been. The whole weathervane assembled measures 38 inches tall. From the bottom of the directional N-S-E-W to the top of the rooster it measures 20 inches tall. The distance across from the front of the arrow to the back measures 24 inches long. Antique c1950. Weathervane This vintage weathervane stands 37" high. 33.5" wide and has a steel Horse& Buggy ornament, solid brass directionals, 4. and 2" copper spacer balls and a steal rod. Included is a new steel weather vane mount(12.5" x 7" x 4" That will fit any pitch roof. This weathervane came off a old farm house in Clear Lake Wisconson. The Solid brass directionals are 18" wide and 3.5" high. This will make a great yard ornament, look great on a garage roof, or cottage.

You are bidding on a very old Copper and Brass Lightning Rod.the Base is Solid Copper(about 296 grams = 10 ounces) and set at the angle of a roof top.the Detachable Rod is Solid Brass(about about 229 grams = 8 ounces)and comes to a very pointy tip. the Lightning Rod has some metallic luster and some green patinated surface.a bit bent but solid.screw threads that connect the Brass Rod to the Copper Base are not stripped so still a snug tight functional fit(see picture 6)mounting holes in the copper sheet metal base still in good shape and not too twisted(see picture 9)there is a Clamp on one of the footings to fasten the Lightning Rod to the Ground Wire(see picture 10)about 16" in height by 8 3/4" across base.sold as is.shipped in 2 pieces(see picture 5) in the medium-size"if it fits. Vtg or Antique Horse Weathervane, Brass/Copper, Tabletop, Western Decor, 12"
ITEM: Rare Vtg or Antique Mini Table Top Weathervane. Brass and Copper 12” DESCRIPTION: This neat piece was found at a farm estate sale in mid-Michigan. I am not sure of its age. It is a miniature version of a horse weathervane. To be used as a table top decoration. It stands just under 12” tall. The horse is about 7-3/4” wide and the base is 4-1/4” wide. It appears to be made of brass and copper. There are five pieces: The horse top, the round copper ball, the North/South, the East/West and the base. When put together, the pieces spin around. CONDITION: The brass has some tarnishing and there are some little dings in the horse here and there. The detail on the eye of the horse is clearer on one side than the other. The round copper ball is in great shape with only one tiny little ding that's hardly noticeable. There is some dark staining ... moreon the base. There are some areas where it looks like some pieces may have been re-soldered. But I'm not sure– it's possible this is original. The back end of the horse on the top is coming apart slightly but it does not detract from the attractiveness of the piece. Great vintage patina!
