Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. Neat geometric design on both sides with a fitting for the ground wire on one side. All of it is copper with wonderful blue/green patina. This is a small rod measuring only 13 1/4" from table to tip. Vintage Copper Running Horse WEATHERVANE Old Patina Verdigris
Here is a vintage Copper'running horse' Weathervane. This piece is structurally sound and has extensive areas of old patina and some rust. The screw at the very bottom of the Weathervane- where I assume it attaches to a roof- is bent(see photos) I'm not sure of the exact age. But it's at least 50 years old. I am not sure of the manufacturer- I could not find a maker's mark. This is a set of two weathervane balls. They are made of solid copper. They were acquired from a duck hunting club in southern Missouri. This is a HUGE full bodied Vintage Flying duck weathervane. It is made of solid copper. It was acquired from a duck hunting club in southern Missouri. I believe the supporting rod is brass. The Armadillo is the official state animal of Texas. But I don't know if this little guy came from there. On his simple wood base. He stands 7 1/4 inches tall and is 10 1/2 inches long from his snout to the end of his curving tail. He was gilded all over, but some of the gilding is worn away revealing small areas of verdigris and old copper. On the whole. This Armadillo is in pretty good shape with no dings or other damage. This is a large new solid copper weathervane. It is very large. Just the star part alone is 34in long(the arrow) and 27 inches tall. Add the pole. Decrotive balls and direction it gets even taller over 40 inches! This is beleived to be made by Weathervanes of Maine a couple decades ago. It has always been in a box and never used outside. It has only been displayed indoors a short time. The star, directionals, and balls are all solid heavy copper with a painted on patina. Some small and minor areas you can see the bright copper through the paint. The rod and stand are solid iron. This antique work of art. Horse& sulky with rider, copper with patina/and brass/cast iron,zinc? weather vane. I was told it was made in the 1800's it was on an old barn that was built in the 1800's so it most likely was the original weather vane put there when it was built. I love this beautiful piece of Americana folk art. The horses ears are missing,it needs some minor fixes,some parts need welded,there is a crack in the base& the end piece of the base is missing but it still is usable, in all its in great shape for its age and the fact that it was in use until recently. The most important parts still exist. It measures 33" long 14" high to the top of the riders head.It is a true vintage work of art! Natural wear and imperfections just add more character! The kind of Whale which was the monomaniacal obsession of Captain Ahab in Moby Dick. I acquired him about 20 years ago from a gentleman in New Hampshire who had a large collection of gilded weather vanes. He was over 90 years old and well past the time when he could answer any questions about his collection. The sale was actually run by his daughter. Who told me that she herself was over 70, and all she knew was that he had been collecting the weather vanes his whole life. So I don't have an exact idea about the date of this weather vane. However. The seams are all tight and finished completely flat, unlike later Vanes which have small standing seams. The Whale is beautifully ... moreformed with special attention to the distinguishing characteristics of a Sperm whale: the square head. The knuckling from the hump to the fluke, or tail and the beautifully bifurcated tail itself. These observations make me think that the Whale most likely dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's. The Whale is full bodied gilded copper. The supporting rod is also copper. Much of the gilding has worn away and a good deal of verdigris has developed over the surface. Creating a complex and beautiful patina. This Whale stands 19 inches tall and 30 inches long on the wooden base. There is no damage whatsoever. This Whale is so beautifully made that. In addition to being fine piece of Americana, it is, in itself, a wonderful piece of sculpture. The photos give an excellent idea of the great form and patina of this fine old Whale. Antique Vintage Copper Flying Goose Duck Weathervane Great Patina 55" Tall
Here is an old vintage goose/ duck weathervane with a wonderful look to it. This definitely appears to be copper. With the exception of the main pole which I believe is iron as it is the only magnetic part on the weathervane. The body of the goose appears hollow and has some areas of copper color, some areas that are a dark reddish color and others areas showing green tarnish- a very nice combination of colors giving it a great patina. The full weathervane stands about 55" tall, the bird's wingspan is about 26 1/2" wide, and the length of the goose is about 24 1/2" There are areas of solder on the goose, but I see it in most seamed areas, so believe it is how the bird was put together, you can see this in the pictures I have shown. Antique Copper/ Iron Trotting HORSE Weather Vane This weather vane is old. I just can't say for sure how old. It stands 20" tall and the base measures about 9" wide. The arrow measures 10" long. This weather vane seems to me to be copper and/or copper plate over iron. It is fairly heavy and as you can see in the photos, there is a distinct copper tarnish all over the piece which gives it a beautiful patina. There is also some surface rust present which might mean it has iron in the metal also. This item is in good condition, please see photos for more detail. Actually when I got him. There were also directionals and another larger ball with him. But the letters on the directionals were broken, so I just mounted him with a simple rod. The ancient Sacred Cod is a wood carving which hangs in the House of Representatives chamber of the Massachusetts State House in Boston. This image is a favorite one in Massachusetts as it recalls the importance of the Cod in the economy and prosperity of the Massachusetts Bay Colony from the earliest times. Fish were also often used as Weather Vanes on Churches as a fish was one of the most ancient Christian symbols because its spelling ... morein Greek: ΙΧΘΥΣ( Ichthus) is an acrostic for Ί ησοῦς Χ ριστός. Antique Large Eagle Weathervane Found In NH Barn With Original Copper Patina Here is a Full-bodied Large Eagle Weathervane. The wingspan is approx. 25" With the arrow approx. 23" long and 2 balls. I don't have the N. S. E. W. directionals. This piece was found in a NH barn. Nothing fake here. This has all the natural patina just as it was found. I'm not sure of the exact age of the piece or it's maker. So I'll leave that up to the pros to determine that. And I hate to even sell it but I really don't have a place to put it. And it's time that this thing sees some daylight and is displayed properly. The visible flaws I found when inspecting it. Can be seen in the pictures and are as listed. It does need some repair. One wing needs the Soldering repaired on a small split. The other wing has been pushed in a bit on the body. And needs to be pulled out and reset and resoldered. WEATHER VANE: Antique Pig. Gilded Copper, 36" x 28" Wonderful Surface& Patina This is a great old Weather Vane featuring a Pig complete with directionals and Balls. He has very relaxed expression on his porcine face. I think he is one of my favorites of all the Vanes I acquired from the elderly gentleman in New Hampshire who had a huge collection of gilded Weather Vanes. This Fine Pig is hollow. Made entirely of Copper and gilded. The gilding is worn away revealing patches of verdigris and old copper. The balls are copper; the directionals, brass, I believe, and the supporting rod is iron. When I mounted him, I replaced the screw which holds the directionals and the collar under the large ball. As he stands now on his wooden stand. He is 36 1.2 inches tall and 28 1/2 inches long. The Pig himself is 17 inches tall and 28 1/2 ... moreinches from his snout to his curly tail. The Directionals are 17 inches long and the balls are 2 1/2 inches and 4 inches in diameter, respectively. All of his seams are tight and he seems to have escaped the indignity of being used for target practice. On the whole, this old Pig is in pretty good shape, and he still turns cheerfully on his supporting rod. The photos give an excellent idea of the color. Form and condition of this great old Pig. If you should have any questions. Please don't hesitate to contact me. And thanks for looking. Due to limitations of photography and the inevitable differences in monitor settings. The color of the pictures on your monitor may be slightly different from the Pig himself, but I did my best to capture him as he is. And, at least on my monitor, the color is a perfect match. This is one of the first Vanes I mounted. And I used a chunk of a beam from our old reconstructed barn home. The base weighs 7 pounds. If the winning bidder does not require the base, the shipping costs may be much lower. Instead of weighing 18 pounds with the base, the thjsi Vane would only be around 11 pounds without the base.

Vintage copper with patina & brass Whale Weather vane
This is a great piece I purchased at an estate auction that was from a 90 yr old doctor. It is like the whale in" Moby Dick" This is considered a"small" weather vane. Which is 12" long. The whale is hammered copper and has just enough patina. This can best be used on a deck or patio or even on top of a small potting. Mowing shed. Or even inside on a desk or coffee table. You can appreciate it more than the larger ones that are placed quite high on top of a barn or a steep house. It does have a fancy style bass which can be taken off. It is a lot prettier than a block of wood. The base is 5" in diameter. The directional. NSEW sets 9" apart. It has the brass ring and set screw which are all brass. The whale has a small swollen body style. The globe or pivot balls are sized 2 1/2" and 1 1/2" diameter ... morethose are all copper with a nice look of patina. The whale is in great shape but has had a slight vein crack that has been repaired with lead. Everything can be taken apart. Together it stands 13" tall. The total weight is 2. lbs 11.3 oz Copper weight 11.3 Brass 2lbs.9 oz I took enough pictures it shows everything! Gorgeous Vintage Large Copper Pig Weathervane w/ lovely natural age patina
Beautiful large pig weathervane with a gorgeous plum brown aged patina that occurs naturally on his solid copper body and mounting frame and this lovely dark patina will certainly draw the attention and admiration of all who see it. This perfect 3 dimensional pig measures over 31 inches long from the end of his curly tail to the tip of his nose and a full 18 inches high from the bottom of his front foot to the top of his shoulders. I don't know exactly how old this nice pig is. But i have had him for over 12 years and he already had his lovely age patina when i got him, so he lis likely at least twice that old and probably much more. Mr. Pig will make a great display piece, either inside or out and will add a touch of stylish xlass to any decor.

Vintage Antique Copper Eagle Weather Vane Estate find. This is a nice 3 dimensional Copper Eagle Weathervane. Because of the style as a full bodied piece it can be displayed in smaller spaces. The Eagle measures 16" from the head to the tip of the tail and the wing span is about 24" It is nicely viewed from all sides and has a nice patterned texture and features. Green verdigris copper finish, it has been soldered to the copper ball that you see in the picture and has a pole that extends down through the ball to fit into a stand.
