Antique Cast Iron & Red Glass Weathervane Arrow, Glass ball & display mount
A great looking Antique Weathervane Arrow and Sun Colored Milk Glass Lightning Ball set up on a display base and mounted on a copper Lightning Rod. The items featured in this display all date to at leat the 1940's and likely are even older. The fancy cast iron arrow measures 18 inches long and has the original red tail glass and even though their is a crack in the one corner. It is firmly and solidly set into the iron frame. The old white milk glass ball is 4 inches in diameter and has a lovely lavender tint due to being exposed to the sun for many years. The entire piece stands 17 inches tall, is 18 inches wide and is set into a walnut base for display. Unusual Red Slag Glass Old Lightning Rod Weathervane
Neat old weathervane that is about 18 inches long. Very unusual front point as noted in photo's one and three. The glass insert is a milky red swirled glass which I think was a replacement glass years ago. The clamp that holds the glass in is a typical farmer jury rig that was put in place years ago. Photo 2. No chips or cracks. Hand Blown into a two-part mold. So. There are seam lines and just a few bubbles in the glass. These have not been used; some of the glass has not even been trimmed away on the inside of one end. The other end was sawn off the mold. These were found in a garage in a paper bag with old newspaper wrapped around them; the newspaper was dated 1973 from Wheeling. West Virginia. The age of these can obviously be before or after that date; you be the judge. Size is approximately: 3" tall overall x 2-7/8" diameter I have absolutely no idea what their purpose is or was; you buy them for whatever you like them to be. Antique Iron Weathervane Arrows (Two) One with Red Glass

Late 1800 to early 1900's weathervane by Jos Barnett& Co. Barnett was in business in Riverside. Iowa from 1896 until the depression The entire piece stands 27" tall. The ornate arrow is 19" long and made of cast iron with 2 stainless steel clips that hold the glass insert in place. The arrow has been gold gilded and has some wear and pitting along the front side and on the two outside corners of the square holding the etched glass also on the front side The ruby red. Deeply etched, glass piece is 5" long by 3" wide. The glass is in fantastic condition with no chips or scratching The ball no longer has the protective end caps and does have some chips in both rims. It is 5" across. No cracks or other chipping The copper center rod with the crown is 25" total length. The crown itself is 3" by 3" ... moreand also copper There is a 3" long brass sleeve with a set screw that slides over the copper rod to just under the arrow. Tighten the set screw and this holds the arrow in place. Antique Cast Iron Lightning Rod Weather Vane Arrow Red Glass Panel Refinished 18
From a local estate. Here is a beautiful old cast iron weather vane arrow, would have fit on the old rooftop lightning rod on a house or barn. Overall length is 18.5" about 4" top to bottom. I'm guessing this was refinished at some point. The black paint looks too shiny and was probably applied over a rusty original, and the glass panel doesn't look right, probably a replacement. Up for bidding is a vintage lightning rod with weather vane and light blue glass globe. The globe has a few minor chips around the top edges of it as seen in the pics but they are hard to see when on the lightning rod and with weather vane on top. The weather vane is a directional one. Looks as though the original glass pane from the weather vane has been replaced with a different red pane. Possibly plastic, so I dont believe its entirely original. Antique Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow Ruby Red Glass Tail
This antique lightning weathervane is made of cast iron with rudy red glass tail. Please see in picture 2 there is damage to the tail. Where one of the iron decorative swirls came off at the bottom. Measures 18 1/2 inches long. There is some rusting. There is slight damage, imperfections to the glass two corners of the glass has been chipped, slightly noticeable, but not large enough to have major damage. There is also an area at the edge there is a spot where its a clear glass that has formed a slight appearance of clouding, it appears to be either manufacturing imperfection in the glass or it got hit by lighting? Please see photos. If you can't spot the areas where there is imperfections please let me know that you would like to view it and i will post a photo.

ANTIQUE Red Stained Glass Lightning Rod BALL Weathervane Dark RUBY BARN Find
You won't believe how my husband came across this beautiful lightning rod ball! He was on a farmstead here in Kansas. Looking in barns. Outside of one he found it on the ground. The owner said the dogs(5 of them) had been rolling it around on the ground. We can't believe but it had to have blown off the rod, rolled down the barn roof and dropped on the ground! How it survived all that I don't know! Anyway it measures approx. 4 1/2 inches from end to end. There is a large shallow dimple from when it was made. It is a beautiful dark ruby color. There is clear color at the ends. So it has been painted originally(on the inside) It has mold lines from where it was blown in a mold. I see a couple small areas that look like bubbles but I believe they are not bubbles only spots of lighter color, hardly noticeable. I am unable to get a ... moregood picture of them. 23" long. This is a gorgeous weathervane. I bought it from a 93 year old man in Austin Texas. He told me it's very rare. But I am not an expertise in weathervanes. RARE Ruby Red Kretzer Raised Quilt Glass Lightning Rod Ball NOT A FLAT QUILT!
Here we have for sale a rare and very seldom offered true red Raised Quilt pattern lightning rod ball. This is not the common Flat Quilt that is offered on here once or twice a week. That ball has be produced. Reproduced, and over produced over the years. This pattern has not been reproduced, thank goodness. This pattern ball was offered by St. Louis L.R.Co. and then by National- St. Louis. It was even offered by West Dodd. Not sure if red was available from them but the first two companies, definitely. I've owned this ball for 23 yrs. When I bought the ball from a fruit jar collector in Illinois it had no caps. The one collar was mint, the other had a chip that went to the ball but not into the ball. No cracks or fractures radiated from said chip. It was a clean chip. I used elmers glue and plaster to affix an original Kretzer Brand ... morecap. I don't like silicone. I did that to keep any further damage from occuring. The other cap which is worn is not affixed. Thats all there is to report as far as damage goes. This is a great ball and you do not see these raised quilts offered in red. There are 2 colors this comes in. Blood red and a cherry red. This is a blood red version but as you can see, it's a looker. The cherry red is much rarer. I've also shown another rock solid way to tell a raised quilt from a flat quilt, besides the obvious, the collars on a raised quilt are always threaded. A flat quilt has a normal straight or ringed collar. Don't let the collar chip scare you. This is a very nice ball and it displays mint! Ball and caps are 100% old antique original! Genuine Antique WEATHERVANE TAIL GLASS - Ruby Red "Hearts & Balls" Cut to Clear
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL. ORIGINAL, ANTIQUE PIECE. This fine. Cased, ruby-red, cut-to-clear piece of glass was used in an authentic antique lightning rod weather vane. Measuring 4 1/2" x 2 1/8" it was either soldered into the tail of a cast iron weathervane or was held in by clips on the opening. This particular one shows signs of having been soldered in including faint stains on the edges and very small chips on the corners, but it would work in either type without showing those flaws. The drawing above shows the type of vane it was made for, but it will work in many other styles. Offering up for auction an antique lightning rod weather van arrow. It measures 22-1/2 inches long by 4-1/2 inches wide at the glass panel section. The glass panel measures about 6-1/4 by 2-1/2 inches. The art deco style red glass panel is etched with a moon and a shooting star design. This decoration is actually carved into the glass. There is rust and pitting but no sections are weakened by the rust. There are no cracks in the glass panel but there is one 1/4 inch chip.
