Please use the photos to help judge the condition of the weathervane. The cow on the weathervane still has some of its original white paint with some added patina. I found this weathervane here in Maine. So it has seen some harsh conditions, but still remains in a solid condition. Positioned in front of the cow is a beautiful directional arrow which I believe is made out of brass. Below the directional is a beautiful white glass lightning bulb that has some black on the bottom, perhaps from smoke out of a chimney. The main rod is twisted and I believe the finial is missing from the top. Sitting at the bottom of the weathervane are three mounting legs and feet. This piece has been lovingly preserved and installed on a decorative wood base for display. The center is a copper lightning rod with removable pointed top. The cow is a 3-dimensional construction made of thin metal. The other metal feels like cast iron? There are TWO glass balls. A white milk glass ball with dimples and a blue ball with stars! The top of the white ball has a few chips that you can see in the photos. The bottom of the blue ball has a few chips that are covered up by the metal fitting. The platform base looks like oak and is raised about 1" for a great presentation. The base measures about 17-1/4" square. The entire piece is about 53" ... moretall. a wonderful unique cow weathervane top from a dairy farm north of Lewiston Maine. the herd was sold off in the 1950's and a new business was started. There were wonderful things from this estate and I will be listing quite a few of them. including a painted wooden sign of"Fernwood Dairy" in another lot. This piece measures 21" long with a wrought iron arrow and the flat cow is 14" x 10" looks like there might have been some pot shots at it but it is in good patina and natural wear. been stored in the barn. I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa 1900 American Folk Art Sheet Metal Cut Out Silhouette COW WEATHERVANE. It is Fresh off the Farm. Picked out of an old granary. I would approximate the age at early 1900s or there abouts. It measures approx 26-1/2" long, approx 17" tall and is made of two cut out and riveted together pieces of sheet metal. I do not have the rod on which it originally sat,what you see is what you get. It is in Very Nice Original As Found Condition. Comes with the old bird poop and everything. All I did was dust it off. It was painted a grayish color and is caked with dirt. Bird poop, and who knows what else. It is riveted together and has an attachment section on the back so that it could sit on a metal rod for spinning. It weighs approx 6.5 lbs. I will also be selling a HORSE WEATHERVANE. I purchased this fantastic piece of Americana from a farm estate sale in Puxico. Missouri. The cow weathervane is made of single thickness galvanized steel. The cow had been painted the traditional BARN RED sometime back in history. The cow does have a bullet hole as can be seen in the photos and does have a couple of dents where it appears some bullets did not penetrate the steel. The cow appears to be homemade and most likely made in the farmer's shop. The LARGE folk art primitive cow weathervane measures 35 inches long from tip of the cow's tail to the tip of the arrow.and the center pole measures 17.5 inches tall. found this at an old farm auction. very nice piece. milk ball is about 5" cow is about 9" long and about 6" tall over all 16" from bottom to tip and almost 20" wide. found one like it on ebay and it said it was a New Jersey. Antique folk art cow weathervane 1900's James A10B ruby globe copper & zinc
This weathervane has all the character and patina a collector could want. Fortunately it has some old west style bullet holes that gives it an even more unique appearance. The ruby red globe is without cracks or repairs. It is stamped A10B. I have no idea what that means. This piece will be packed with extreme care and sent to the new owner without any shipping or handling charges if it goes to someone in the contiguous United States. Alaska and Hawaii will be charged $30.00. I will answer questions to the best of my ability. The fittings are worn from age and use, so it will need to be tightened up if it is put to practical use. Neat vintage old and original Cow Weathervane for Lightning Rod
Neat old and original 1920's hollow bodied metal Cow weathervane. Weather vane is on a cast iron front. Old cow still has some of the old original gold paint still on it. look closely at the head photos. Whole weathervane is 32 inches long. The hollow bodied steel metal cow measures 15 inches long. 9 inches tall and 1 1/4 inch thick. Cow has two ouches. One is a rusted hind hoof and the other is a bullet hole through the belly. I'm selling this Swirling Cow for the elderly Farmer that lives down the road. He had Her on top of the pig shed for the past 30 years. Sold the pigs and the shed and added Pine Tree farming. Less maintenance. This Cow swirls in all Directions along with the Directionals. Extremely well made form cast aluminum with an Oxidized Weather Proof Finish that looks like aged copper. The spacers wore out so he replaced one with a 12 ga brass cap. The 25" high by 11/16" wide, upright steak is solid steel also reinforced with a solid steel rod for extra strength and durability. Up for auction is my beloved puffed bull cow weather vane. I planned to keep this forever. But recent medical bills make this auction necessary. I bought this from a local years ago they had a vast collection of weather vanes from back east from a dairy farm. The rod, directional, and vane are included in the auction as well as a custom weighted stand used for display on my mantle. The vane is made of copper with lead soldering. Selling a large. Thick old/vintage Folk Art painted wooden cow weathervane. My Dad collects Folk Art and found this in a thrift shop years ago and has had it indoors for years. It's handmade, has a lot of wear and some repairs to it. Made with several kinds of nails, many square. Tin ears. Age? Old. Looks to me like someone made it years ago and probably used barn/floor board. It's thick and cut with a mill saw. The reason I think this is there are nail holes in the wood. It's a great country decoration. It has a copper pipe in the bottom, so it can spin.as seen in photos. It is slightly warped and has a lot of wear, chips, missing tail, dirty, cracks etc. very solid though. My Dad did add a staple fairly recently to stabilize a crack in the center of the cow. THERE ARE ALSO 2 HOLES ON EACH SIDE OF COW, PROBABLY BULLET HOLES. THESE WERE VERY FUN THE SHOOT AT, I AM TOLD. THERE IS A BOLT AND PART OF SOME SORT OF BRACKET THAT WAS USED TO ATTACH TO THE WEATHERVANE. ONE SIDE OF THE HOOF THAT THE BOLT IS ON IS BENT AND TIN IS RIPPED SOME. Very Nice Old and Original Hollow Bodied Cow Weathervane. Weathervane animal itself measures 15 inches long and 9 inches tall. Cow is hollow bodied and an inch thick. Cow is firmly attached to a"American Front" arrow. Overall length of the vane is 30 inches long. In very nice condition-no holes. As sharp as they come. This auction is for an antique zinc full body large cow with some old gold leaf present and applied horns and ears. The cast iron frame is 28" long. Including the tube. The cow body is 10" tall by 14 1/2" ... morewide and has no seam separations. It is rare to find this cow figural with the horns and ears still in place. As pictured, both horns are visible, one horn is in original condition and the opposite horn has a small curl in it, at least both are still there. As pictured, only one ear is present and pressed back toward the neck, this ear is fragile too with stress cracks. The other ear has sadly fallen off. As pictured, the back middle leg has a crack showing on both sides, but is not falling off. As pictured. The tube the cow is standing on is loosely inserted into the cast iron arrow front. At some point, before we acquired, the screw holding the tube in to the frame was removed and is now missing. The condition of this zinc cow is"old and shot to he! by bored kids testing their shooting accuracy by trying to make the vane spin as a bullet pinged it. We personally like the bullet holes. But some collectors want near perfect examples to display in their collections. This cow proudly shows her"warts and all" condition and would look great hanging on the wall among your other vanes. Except for new small 1/2" dia copper coupling seen in photos. Bottom glass ball#1 has 3-1" hairline cracks restored. no broken holes in glass balls. Weathervane has stood in our garden for the last 34 years.

Up for auction is a vintage copper hollow cow from a weathervane. It measures about 23" long and 14" high from the foot to the head and the brass piece it is mounted to measures 19" long.
