Antique Folk Art Horse Sheet Metal Weathervane Americana Architectural
Up for sale is an antique horse form weathervane recently found in the Northern indiana area. It is found in good used condition and comes attached to part of its original post. It is sheet metal and offered in as found condition with its original finish. This piece has pegged construction as it joins the post. The only condition issue to discuss is rust to both sides. The directional post the horse rests on is missing both ends and the tail shows minor losses. It measures approximately 12" x 8 1/2" in size. The base bas a diameter of approximately 5/8" A very nice folk art piece which will display well, indoors or out. A nice look for any horse enthusiast or folk art lover. Antique Horse Weathervane, arrow, original old bullet holes AMERICANA FOLK ART
You are bidding on a TOTALLY AUTHENTIC AMERICANA FOLK ART antique Horse Weather Vane. That is made out of some kind of metal alloy and mounted on an iron arrow and once used as a weather vane. IT LOOKS GREAT mounted on a wall. The piece has wonderful, artistic lines- it's 28" long from the tip of the arrow to the end; the height is 12" from the tip of the horse's ears to the bottom of the arrow; and the horse itself is 13" long, but would be 2" or so longer if his front leg were still attached to the metal mounting. The appears to be some of carousel or circus horse, as there is a sculpted band around its middle. THE ARROW HAS AMAZING PATINA, and both it and the horse are obviously very old and weathered. There are several bullet holes in the horse- it obviously was used as target practice out there on the range- ... moreand the horse is also missing most of his legs from the knees down. Antique Copper Weathervane Horse Americana Folk Art 30"
For auction is for a copper Horse Weathervane Topper. The horse is almost 30" long and total height is 17" and the horse is 13 1/2" tall. The tail solder is loose on one side and there are 2 cracks in the mounting rod. There are a few dents and dings(see pics) All the rest of the seems are intact and it has both ears intact. The mounting pipe is probably brass.

Up for bid is a very nice piece of Americana Folk Art. this tin"Man Chasing Pig" weather vane is a wonderful piece. It is 14" long. And about 8" tall. It is mounted on a wooden base, and swings freely. The entire item is made of tin, EXCEPT for the handle, which I believe is made out of wood. A magnet sticks to everything except for the handle.I chose not to try to scratch on the handle so as not to harm this piece) The detail and craftsmanship are amazing. Here is an authentic vane sheet(tail) from an 8' wheel diameter Woodmanse water pumping windmill(circa 1915) These windmills were made in Freeport. Illinois. This vane came off a windmill that pumped water for a Nebraska Sandhills Ranch through the Depression and into the 1940's. This vane has character with patina and bullet holes. 19th c. Antique Folk Art Rooster Weathervane Americana AAFA Sheet Iron Primitive
What a great find we have at auction today. Superb folk art rooster form weathervane. He was cut out from sheet iron. He stands 24" high and is 25 1/2" wide. He body is supported with body straps on both sides which are riveted onto his form. He swivels on vertical rod which is attached to his base. He has a small pointing arrow which is riveted to him from the backside. To add to his charm is the hand forged base which is cut from heavier steel and is also riveted together. He patina is an old wrought iron black paint/finish. He probably has been scraped and repainted at some point. He spent many years in the weather but somebody took good care of him!
