Vintage Lighting Rod Weathervane And Glass Ball Set: Moon And Stars Theme
These are vintage originals! Not repops. These are the real thing. This came out of my Grandparents' Estate and my step-grandfather, who passed about 10 years ago, was a lightening rod installer from roughly 1940-1980. This was in his garage with a collection of other vintage items, several of which I've already sold to happy collectors! I'm selling these as a set because of the thematic connection. This auction includes a rare all original cast iron star twisted PAT'D July 1878 lightning rod with the original PAT'D July 1878 sun color amethyst lightning rod ball. The rod and ball were on a very old brick home in Silver Lake. IN. We watched them come off the roof top back in 2004. The rod has a very unusual screw-on tip and the bottom of the rod is marked"PAT'D 1878" The rod is 71 1/2" tall to the top of the tip. The copper/bronze tip is 10 3/4" tall with a 1/2" opening to screw on the rod top. This is a smaller size opening than most screw-on tips have. The tip is very unusual itself. As pictured. The all original 4 1/2" tall SCA ball has very nice thick collars for its age and is marked PAT'D JULY 1878 on the center of the ball on one side. There are two zinc caps included. Although there were none present when we acquired the set. The ball has been wiped off on the outside, but there is"antique dirt" in the ball. Thank you for looking and checkout our other auctions!

Trotting Horse vane is 9 inches long and 7 12 inches tall. Made by different Vane makers. The set is 30 inches tall-perfect size for displaying on a fireplace mantel if so desired. Neat Old & Original Vintage Horse Weathervane with Lightning Rod & Ball Set up
Nice Vintage hollow bodied tin horse weathervane. Neat old horse vane is on the much desired triple heart front. Horse a measures 9 inches long. 7 1/2 inches tall and 1 inch thick. Whole weathervane is 21 1/2 inches long. Notice the triple heart front has some old paint on it. The lightning rod ball is a round 4 1/2 inch,pretty cobalt blue one. it too is very old and from the 1920's. The old lightning rod is a 5/8 inch copper fellow with nice patina and cast iron brace. Rod is 36 inches tall and even has the cable clamp adapter on the bottom. This is a sharp, very old weathervane set up. worthy of any nice lightning rod collection or single use and display. Neat Vintage Old & Original Rooster Weathervane and Lightning Rod Ball Set Up.
Neat Old and Original hollow bodied Rooster Weathervane with lightning rod and Red glass lightning rod ball. Vintage Rooster weathervane measures 21 inches long. Vane has the collector desired triple heart front. This is referred to as the small rooster by collectors. It measures 9 inches tall and 7 1/2 inches wide. The hollow body has a slight flatten area in one breast area but not bad. There is a bullet hole which looks to have gone in the tail and exited out the other wing. The legs have been repaired and strengthened with solder as photos show. Please look at photos for better description. The lightning rod ball is very old too. It is a heavy dark red glass 4 1/2 inch fellow in nice condition. The Rod is a standard 5/8 copper rod measuring 37 inches long. It is patina and the brace legs are in good condition. Antique, RARE set up! Twisted lightning rod and SCA ball, embossed caps and rod!
This lightning rod set up is really special. It is A scroll stand with a twisted Star Rod. it has a bayonet tip that is engraved with the letters CBFR. Call brothers Franklin rod. the rod itself stands 70 inches tall. the ball is Sun colored amethyst very beautiful and comes with two caps that are correct Kretzer brand trademark. One cap is in much better condition than the other but both still clearly show the embossing.
