This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. Antique Vintage Old Large Copper & Brass Weathervane Running Horse Weathervane
This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. The Horse is almost 28" wide nose to tail and appx. 13 1/2" tall. There are two decorative balls. One 2" and one 4" The directional Markers are appx. 18 1/2" wide and 3 1/4" tall. ... moreEach letter is appx 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" The condition is as shown in the pictures. It looks to be made entirely of brass but has oxidation over it. However, the fletching(where the feathers would be) is made of aluminium to catch the wind. I have seen another one of these on ebay before so I know the aluminum part is correct to the vane. There are four old bullet holes in the fletchings part of the arrow. This is shown in the photographs, as is some rust on the steel base mount. The arrow weathervane is in all original condition and came from an old farm building on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Antique Star Burst Weathervane Lightning Rod Topper Nova Flare, Brass Finial End
This great looking star burst brass lightning rod topper has it's original patina. I could find no makers mark. But these are not seen anymore and I think it dates back to the late 1800's. The star tips are sharp and I just can tell it's very old. This is being sold in antique condition, as shown in the photos. Nothing is hidden. The star burst topper is 8 3/4 inches high and 4 3/8 inches wide at the star. This is a very decorative topper and I'm sure it was more expensive than the norm when originally sold.

Vintage Antique Robbins Cast Brass Car and Weathervane Primitive Folk Art
Very unique weathervane made by Robbins of Missouri. The car appears to be made of cast brass and the rest possibly cast aluminum? Use your own judgement from the pics. This is in good condition no cracks. And you get everything as shown in the pictures. Very rare to find a unit this complete. Antique Weathervane Rooster RARE Brass / Bronze Or Copper ? Hand Hammerd HELP ??
Here we have a estate find very old antique Weathervane rooster. Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age you collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. I probably shouldn’t have bought this small antique American Eagle from a 19 th century Weathervane. There are several problems after ... moreyears of being shot at. Since the day the farmer removed this vane it has been displayed on a 5 ½” diameter by 6 ½” tall carved walnut base. The eagle has a 17” wingspan. Which would have been longer, but one wing is in poor condition. It is bent and there are separations on the seams and a couple of bullet holes, one which caused a small piece on the front of the wing to fly off. The other wing has a couple of bullet holes also, but is in better condition with only some slight bends to the copper. There is another bullet hole in the body and both feet are missing. The original owner must have removed this weathervane, before it was complete shot up. If you see the primitive charm in this small American Folk Art Eagle Weathervane like it do, then you’ll be glad to know it is listed without any reserve. Structure/Composition: Made of a non-ferrous metal with chrome plating. A magnet does NOT stick to the base or to the tines. Four tines are brass with chrome plating. All four(4) screw into the base. Has a screw for affixing to the top of a pole. Wear-and-Tear: In well-used condition. The chro me has a patina of city grime. But the scratches are very little. The age is late 1800's to early 1900's; ... morethe building it was removed from was built around the turn of the last century. The lock screw on the base is a flat-head slotted screw. Not Phillips. Yes. It is damaged(i.e. it is used, not new) but the damage is just wear-and-tear from being on a roof for decades. The chrome is nicked in places. A magnet does not stick to the four tips. But it does to the screw in the rod's base. The metal on the tips is scared from being screwed in and you can see a gold-colored metal(brass? underneath. There are many micro-scratches on the base and tips. Too many to be pointed out individually. This is a wonderful old brass and copper arrow for a weather vane or lightning rod. It is new old stock. And was found in the store room of an old general store. It measures almost 22" long and will accept up to a 1/2" rod. There is a set screw, so a smaller rod can also be used. The patina is really nice. And it is in great overall condition. Rare Antique 1800’s Brass or Bronze Arrow Iron Weathervane
I really don’t know a lot about this weathervane. And I am no weathervane expert. When I bought this. I knew that it was a special piece. It stands 89 inches tall. And the brass or bronze arrow is 43 inches from tip to tail. The remainder of the weathervane is iron. This is a fresh barn find that has some damage and some repairs. There is one picture that shows a separate piece that is a spear that was broken off and came with the weathervane when I purchased it. I considered taking it to a specialist for restoration; however. I have decided to sell it and let the new buyer change it in whatever way that they want. Has a few bent points but if you made it to that age you would have some bent parts also. They stand about 9" tall and about 9 1/2" wide. These are becoming harder to get because they are bronze or brass and lots are being melted for scrap. Most of my items are preowned, vintage or antique so they will show age appropriate wear. ANTIQUE RARE 11 POINT BRASS STARBURST ELECTRA LIGHTNING ROD CROWN TOPPER FINIAL
Very nice and super rare Electra"E" brass lightning rod topper/finial. In the eleven point starburst. Crown point pattern. Measures 7 inches tall and 4 inches wide. With the original attached copper shaft it measures a total length of 10.5 inches. Condition: original aged green tint patina. also has what looks to be some of the original shiny silver nickel plating on the star. Could probably be polished nicely. Several of the tips have slight bends that are easily straightened. Otherwise no bends as seen in the pictures. Does have some pitting along"spear" part below starburst. Copper pipe does have small split where it connects to finial(note these are two pieces. Most do not have original crimped shaft) End of copper shaft is uneven. This is nice- good threaded end, round ball, and 5 points in very nice condition- the original verdigris patina is about 50% Measures 8 1/4 inches tall, each point measures about 4 1/2 inches more or less. Here's an Antique c.early 1900's COPPER Hollow GRASSHOPPER Weathervane that's in SUPERB Original Condition showing the Verdigris Patina PERFECTLY! This Old Weathervane was Taken Off and Old Barn in Michigan about 50 Years ago and was VERY Old at that Time. Its been in Storage Since! As you can see the Base is NOT Old Looking, that has been replaced with a newer one because the Original was too Rotted away to use/Hold Up this Grasshopper! Measures just about 53" tall with the Grasshopper being 24 1/2" in Length without its antenna's. It is made from Copper with a Hollow Center being Firmly soldered together with NO separations to be Found! Both GLASS Eyes are STILL firmly Intact showing some minor wear from the Weather! WEATHER VANE: Antique Banneret, Gilded Iron, Copper & Brass, 22.5" x 23 "
WEATHER VANE: Antique Banneret. Gilded Iron. Copper& Brass, 22.5" x 23" This is a wonderful old Banneret Weather Vane which I found years ago west of Nashua. New Hampshire, near Millford Circle. I don't know the maker or its age for sure. I might guess it dates to the early 1900's or late 1800's It is made almost entirely of Iron. The four flowers are copper and I believe the ball at the top is brass. There is a coat of dark or black paint under the gilding on the iron parts. And there is some verdigris which has developed on the flowers and ball a the top As it stands now on its wooden base. This Vane is 22 1/2 inches stall and 23 inches long. The wooden base adds another inch and a half. There is a newer steel support rod which runs up through the whole and keeps it together. On the whole this Banneret is in pretty ... moregood condition and displays beautifully The photos give a very good idea of the form and condition of this great old Weather Vane.
