Antique Purple Glass Lightning Rod Ball / Moon and Star / Goshen Co.
Being offered is one antique glass lightning rod ball made by the Goshen Lightning Rod Company dating back to the early 1900's. It is amethyst in color with a moon and star pattern and measures approximately 4 1/4 inches across and 5 inches end to end from the collars(openings measure 7/8" inside diameter) There is some light chipping and rough edges on the collars which is quite common on antique lightning balls. Black scorching is visible but overall in great condition for its age. Amethyst in the moon and star pattern is hard to come by. Here is an opportunity to acquire one. This is an old original blue pleated lightning rod ball. It is in very good condition. There are no cracks or breaks. There is chipping to the collar ends which is very common with these old balls. The collar ends are shown in the pics. It has a nice shiny finish to the glass and is a nice bright blue. It measures 4 1/2" across at the widest point. It will be well packed and fully insured. ANTIQUE ORNATE IRON ARROW Measures 22.75" long. There are no breaks. Cracks, or repairs to this fancy old arrow. An eBay search shows me it looks just like a Kretzer but I don't see the name where it usually is. See my last photo. Don't know if they were ever unmarked or if it could wear down that much? We are not weathervane people. There is no glass. See photo 8.Should there be something there to hold the glass? We suspect so.Probably an easy fix for those accustomed to working with weathervanes.

Antique Vintage Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow White Milk Glass Ribbed Ball
Antique or Vintage. Kind of hard to date these, Lightning Rod/Weathervane. As you can see it has had it's years of use, the arrow does not rotate freely and will need a little work if you are intending to use this item, if not its a great piece of American art form from the past. Also as shown in the pictures the pointed top does come off, and will be off for shipping. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so unless you have questions I'll just give dimensions. I am happy to offer such a lovely old copper lightning rod with some old blue paint still intact and its ten sided 5 1/2" high amethyst D&S ball.ALL MARKED. SEE PICS. Besides the D& S being in the top, on the bottom it says, Patten Pending" There are no cracks or breaks in the ball and even the metal rings are on the rod. The rod measures, as you see it unextended 40" but EXTENDS TO 46 inches. No pieces missing. There is a slight dent in a little part of the rod near the top halt, nothing that takes away aesthetically or structurally.but I got to mention it on eBay. Also the glass ball is dirty. It can be easily cleaned, I just did not have time. This is an antique Diddie Blitzen blue lightning rod bulb. It comes with the 2 copper ferrules that cover over the ends to cover up the chips(which are common on these bulbs) There are no cracks in the bulb. This is a nice piece of American farm history. This would make a great decorative piece for home or garden. wonderful old lightning rod with decorative bracket. Check out the bracket on rod holder. Neat geometric design on both sides with a fitting for the ground wire on one side. All of it is copper with wonderful blue/green patina. This is a small rod measuring only 13 1/4" from table to tip. As you can see from the photos. It leans a bit. I have not tried to straighten it. The bracket is nearly flat and sets this way pretty well. For your consideration is this beautiful antique copper Weathervane of Sulky Horse& Jockey. This old weathervane exhibits great patina! Included with with Jockey and Sulky weather vane is the matching directionals with 2 copper/ brass balls all mounted with a rod. This is a large weathervane measuring 49" tall. 31 inches long and 9" wide. This weathervane is in great overall condition. It does exhibit a few bends and dings here and there which is to be expected with a piece of this age. It has spent its life in the elements perched upon a barn in Mooresville Indiana which gives it that great patina. It appears to have had a few repairs made where a few solders broke loose.
