Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. GREAT ANTIQUE COPPER ROOSTER WEATHERVANE 19TH CENT CANADIAN OR EUROPEAN
Antique Copper Folk Art Rooster Weathervane I really like this folky rooster vane. It may very well be Canadian. Having both a crown, an orb and a cross, probably east coast. It is artfully cut from sheet copper and is at least 19th century, though the rooster is similar to 18th century ones. I believe it was once brightly painted with red and white, but only small vestiges remain. Height 34 1/8( 86.7 cm) WEIGHT 2 pounds 14 ounces I sell most of my items on eBay with a reasonable reserve. Weathervane Windmill with Rooster on Top from Montana Ranch-Antique
This old unit needs some TLC on the windmill. However, the rooster and wind tail are in nice vintage galvanized shape. Someone that wants to restore the windmill could do it with some tin snips, a drill and a little time to make up the blades and braces that are missing. The hub bearings appear to be o.k. as it spins. It was mounted on and is an old galvanized pipe. We will ship by taking the windmill off the weathervane and laying all flat in strong cardboard. This unit is off a ranch in West Montana. A lot of history in this one. It weighs 20 lbs. of metal. The total length is about 3' the wind tail is 18" x 18" and the windmill is about 32" in diameter when complete.

i Up for Auction: Revisions were made to the pics today. Monday June 3rd. An Antique Full Bodied Rooster Weathervane. The Rooster appears to be Bronze. The Rooster has a Nice Patina about it as you can see in the pics. The cast aluminum. Which I'm calling it, is in remarkable condition. There are places where the aluminum shows through as shown in the pics due to years of service and weather situations like large hail stones and other debris which may have come in contact with it. The height of the entire weathervane from the roof to the top of the Rooster is 40" The Rooster is 10" tall and 8 1/2" wide. The Arrow is 33" acrossed. The direction indicators are 19" acrossed. The letters are 3 7/8" tall. The arrow and the stem has a"hammered" look to it. The Rooster has a seam in it from the breast ... moreup over the head and than opens up at the tail which was intentional. This is what is called a full bodied Rooster. This very nice rooster weathervane came from the estate of my Grandparents. This has been on their barn for as long as I can remember and I'm just shy of 60 years old. My understanding is they bought the house in and around 1947. There is no way that I can't verify whether the weathervane was on the barn when they bought it or not. I see no markings on the weathervane that might give away the date of it. Also. There is no way that I could know whether or not this has ever been repainted. This is a charming Weather Vane featuring a Rooster and an interesting arrow which I picked up years ago near Salisbury. Maryland, which is the headquarters for Tyson's Chicken. All around there is serious chicken raising country. This Rooster seems to have had several coats of paint during his long lifetime. The last one being red. He is made from cut out iron sheeting. The Rooster and his arrow are one piece. Rather than being commercially produced, I tend to think that this Rooster was a one off produced by a very talented metal worker. I have never seen an arrow quite like his, with its wavy top and tulip shapes used for both the fletchings and the ... morepoint. As he is now on his wooden stand. This Rooster is 23 1/2 inches tall and 20 inches long. The Rooster himself is 8 1/4 inches tall and 7 1/4 inches from his breast to the back of his tail feathers. The arrow is 20 inches long, and the directionals are 15 1/4 inches long. Some of the paint is beginning to flake on the bottom of the ordinals. But other than that, this Rooster is in pretty good shape and still turns freely on his supporting rod. The photos give an exellent idea of the charm and cheerfullness of this Rooster Weather Vane. Antique Weathervane Rooster RARE Brass / Bronze Or Copper ? Hand Hammerd HELP ??
Here we have a estate find very old antique Weathervane rooster. Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age you collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell ... moreme any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Although I'm not sure how old it is. I'm guessing early part of the 20th century. The paint on the rooster itself is real chalky and appears to be chalk paint. It will come off on your hands. The rooster is a heavy cast aluminum and is thick-bodied. Not slender like most. The rest of it is a cast iron base and a metal tube. It has a long bolt through it. The rooster looks like it used to thread on there but it is now loose and will come off. This would be a great decorative piece as it just has that"look" to it. The weathervane was mounted on the roof of a neighbor's house in the early 1940's. I suspect it is much older than this. But I can only declare for certain that it is this old, because I remember it as a child. My parent's purchased the house at a later time and when they passed away the weathervane came into my possession. It measures approx. 35 1/2" tall and it is 27" wide measuring across the arrow. There is a round piece of metal beneath this. That they must have inserted into a small hole and then the weathervane had screws, that fastened the weathervane to the roof of the house. There is paint wear from being outside so many ... moreyears. There is some rust on the bottom round disk. But it has not harmed the metal and the wethervane just needs to be cleaned and painted or you can enjoy displaying it in his natural, weathered state. WEATHER VANE: Antique Rooster. Painted Iron, 1800's. 25.5" Tall x 16" Wide This is a terrific Antique Weather Vane featuring a Rooster that I picked up years ago in Salisbury. Maryland which is the capital of chicken raising country in Southern Maryland. I believe he dates to the 1800's, based on his condition, construction and especially the hand forged supporting rod. He is made of heavy duty cut out iron. His feet are of a lighter gauge. He also has a diagonal iron brace. A couple of patches and a wonderful turning device that goes through both sides with a small wheel. He has traces of brown, black and red paint and must have been painted a number of times. I particularly like the way his eye was cut out. Leaving just the pupil. As he is now on his wooden stand. He is 25 1/2 inches tall and 16 inches wide. He has lost ... moreone of his tail feathers and his wattle seems to have been reattached. Besides this, he has no damage to him, except the obvious wear from being outside so long. WEATHER VANE: Antique Rooster. Painted Tin, 22" Tall x 23.5" Wide This is a terrific Antique Weather Vane featuring a Rooster that I picked up years ago in Salisbury. Maryland which is the capital of chicken raising country in Southern Maryland. I think he is the work of some local craftsman. Rather than a commercially produced piece. He is made of cut out and assembled pieces of tin. His body was painted black; his comb, wattle and tail, red. Much of the paint has worn off revealing patches of rust. I particularly admire the overlapping semi-circular pieces used to form his hollow body. His wattle is in two pieces opened toward the front. Serving as the wind catcher. As he is now on is wooden stand he is 22 inches tall and 23 1/2 inches long. His hollow body is 3 inches at its widest. He did avoid being the object of target practice. ... moreBut the ends of his tail feathers have suffered some trauma. Other than that. This Rooster is in pretty good shape and seems to me to have a good deal of character. The photos give a very good idea of the form and color of this Painted Rooster Weather Vane. Antique Americana Large Folksy Rooster Weathervane ~ Painted Iron& All Original Up for auction is a wonderful antique rooster weathervane. An all original and one-of-a-kind weathervane that likely dates to the 1920s. Based on his folksy deco design. He was hand made, cut from heavy duty iron, and made to fit onto a rod, so he turns freely depending on the wind. This fellow has a great natural patina from being outside so long. The paint, which is a dark barn red, is the original paint, and it has worn away naturally in places due to the oxidation of the iron underneath. The previous owner had this rooster mounted onto a modern heavy iron display stand, which I think suits him well. On his stand he measures 25 1/2" tall and 24" wide, and without the stand, he measures 24" by 17. The stand itself is 24" long by 6" ... morewide, not counting the rod. This folksy fellow is in excellent antique condition, with no repaints, repairs, splits, holes, or dents. Please refer to the photos, feel free to ask any questions, and thanks for looking!

Antique Weathervane Rooster Old Paint Vintage Country Primitive Original Paint?
Found at a rural Nebraska estate sale is this great old metal rooster from a weathervane. Still standing on a 15" section of the weathervane. The rooster is about 9" tall and a bit over 7" wide. He still retains remnants of old paint which may quite possibly be original. There is some rust but no holes eaten through. Visible from the bottom is some separation indicating the rooster was formed from two separate sides and joined together. He is very sturdy and has a wonderful country primitive look. Antique"ROOSTER" Weathervane. Complete with Directionals and Stand! It has the smaller size hollow body Tin Rooster with first coat of old Silver Barn Roof Paint. The Directionals are probably original and marked SHIN as shown. I disassembled it for shipping and shouldn't be a problem putting it back together. Some minor surface rust on the Rooster with no damage or repairs. The Rooster measures 7 1/2" long and 8 3/4" tall. The Arrow it is mounted to is 23 1/4" long. The Directionals are each 17 3/4" long. This is a beautiful old hand-made. Hand-painted rooster weathervane, in very good condition for its age. Item was found mounted to a wall. There is mounting hole in the eye and also in the foot, as can be seen in photos. Some marking and chips from use, but all in all a very nice piece. Rooster swivels easily on iron pedestal.
