Tail& body, with at least 18 rivets, possibly handmade, fastened to its metal rod strapping reinforced backside and bracket fittings for roof mount. Please note: rooster beak and crown with slight bend and associated paint loss but no crack. Overall. Weathervane has some minor paint loss and surface rust typical from many years outdoors stationed on a roof, and four small holes under 1/4" near bottom, and few small dings, dents. vintage Americana tin Folk Art handmade weather vane
Up for bid is a very nice piece of Americana Folk Art. this tin"Man Chasing Pig" weather vane is a wonderful piece. It is 14" long. And about 8" tall. It is mounted on a wooden base, and swings freely. The entire item is made of tin, EXCEPT for the handle, which I believe is made out of wood. A magnet sticks to everything except for the handle.I chose not to try to scratch on the handle so as not to harm this piece) The detail and craftsmanship are amazing. The man appears to be either chasing a pig, or running his pig to market. There are no marks on the piece as to who may have made it. We can't recall ever seeing another comparable Pheasant Weathervane. This double-sided example was hand carved from a single piece of wood forming its head. Body& tail. Please note: Vane in untouched as descended condition with some wear consistent with age. Wonderful worn surface patina weathered from many years of service. Including age crackelure, paint loss, flakes, etc. Wood is solid without repairs, noting beak chip on one side and possibly one tail feather lost to storms and a couple others chipped, hard to notice in photos, but worth mentioning. There's a slight bend in a few of the north south east west polls. This looks handmade, probably from the farmer I got it from, that's probably why I can't find any markings anywhere. This is for a handmade Folk Art Old Whiligig. The paints are so thick and bright and are the old Paints. This is a duck and the wings are painted on all four sides and the duck is also painted on both sides. The farmer made a pole for the Whirligig and made a hole in his fencepost so he could mount the duck on the fence and gauge the wind from his house. I am sending the mounting pole with the whirligig. This piece measures 16"L x 4"W. Very cute piece. I welcome all questions.

This incredible handmade weathervane is made of s heet iron with hand riveted forged iron flattend iron rod braces. It originates from the state of Kansas and was atop a barn during the late 1800’s. The owners moved to San Diego California in the early 1940’s and the weathervane went along with them where it set atop an out building and there it remained until 1995 when the matriarch passed away at the age of 105. It was then the weathervane was acquired along with many other family treasures. By the niece. The niece and family recently had an estate sale to clear out many items that is where I found this great piece of history. It measures 42” tall overall by 26” wide at the widest. The hunter is 21” tall the dog is 7” tall. It is made of sheet iron and iron pipe and is hand riveted. The base is iron and is 4” wide and slopes 6” downward ... moreon each side. It is painted black. It is rusty and is pitted from decades of inclement weather. there are no markings or signature on this piece.
