The tripod used to ... moreattach it to the peak of the roof is made of iron. The tripod legs straddle the peak and are attached with screws. The pointed post is made of copper and has a lovely. Aged patina. The glass ball is made of white milkglass. I do not see any markings of any kind on this ball. The total thing stands 5 feet 5" tall with the tripod going straight down. The ball is about 4" in diameter. The heavy metal ground wire went from one lightening rod to the next and finally down the corner of the house and was securely anchored in the ground several inches with a long metal stake. This item will be shipped in two seperate boxes. The glass ball will be shipped seperately and insured. Due to the length of the rod. It will be classified as a large and irregular package. Please keep this in mind when you note the cost of s/h. We also ship via FedEx. If I find it is cheaper to ship via FedEx. I purchased ... moreit at an old suburban farm yard sale many years back. The steel cross arrow and James logo are flanked buy a full bodied zinc cow at the other end. The is 32-1/4 inches. It has a 5-1/2 inch, zinc, cone base-cover and a hollow zinc finial. The dark amber glass ball is 4-1/2 inches in diameter. It stands 33-1/2 inches tall. The black and gold painted surface must be at least 50-60 plus years old. The condition is very good. There is only see a slight dent in one side of the cow. The glass ball is in great shape as are the cone and finial. It doesn't appear to have any old repairs. It's held together with cotter pins to keep it lined-up. Welcome to my listing. You are buying a 4 1/2" White milk glass NATIONAL Lightning rod ball old antique weathervane This lightning rod ball is in good condition and nicely aged from 100 plus years in the weather. This ball is marked"NATIONAL" in raised lettering. It has the typical chips on the top and the bottom that covers with copper caps that protect it and makes a tight fit to the 5/8" lightning rod. It has all the swirls and small bubbles in the milk glass that you should expect to see in an early ball. Antique Vintage Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow White Milk Glass Ribbed Ball
Antique or Vintage. Kind of hard to date these, Lightning Rod/Weathervane. As you can see it has had it's years of use, the arrow does not rotate freely and will need a little work if you are intending to use this item, if not its a great piece of American art form from the past. Antique ORIGINAL copper/iron/milk glass WHITE ball LIGHTENING ROD complete
This is one of the original lightening rods that was on the roof of the old farm that we bought in MI. The farm was built in 1912. The tripod used to attach it to the peak of the roof is made of iron. The tripod legs straddle the peak and are attached with screws. The pointed post is made of copper and has a lovely. Aged patina. The glass ball is made of white milkglass. I do not see any markings of any kind on this ball. The total thing stands 5 feet 5" tall with the tripod going straight down. The ball is about 4" in diameter. The heavy metal ground wire went from one lightening rod to the next and finally down the corner of the house and was securely anchored in the ground several inches with a long metal stake. This item will be shipped in two seperate boxes. The glass ball will be shipped seperately and insured. Due to the ... morelength of the rod. It will be classified as a large and irregular package. One of them is near pure white and it’s embossed National on the front. It has some damage to the top edge which is common on these pieces. The other has a purple tint that might just be from 100 years of sun exposure and it’s marked ELECTRA on the front. Antique Early Cow Weathervane and Lightning Rod with White Bulb: Today for auction is this wonderful early antique cow weathervane. Please use the photos to help judge the condition of the weathervane. The cow on the weathervane still has some of its original white paint with some added patina. I found this weathervane here in Maine. So it has seen some harsh conditions, but still remains in a solid condition. Positioned in front of the cow is a beautiful directional arrow which I believe is made out of brass. Below the directional is a beautiful white glass lightning bulb that has some black on the bottom, perhaps from smoke out of a chimney. The main rod is twisted and I believe the finial is missing from the top. Sitting at the bottom of the weathervane are three mounting legs and feet. Antique Tall 60" Copper Lightning Rod with Milk White Electra Ball Globe
This is an old and very tall lightning rod with a very attractive milk white color globe with"Electra" printed on it in raised letters. The tall pointed rod has a point at the top and is non-magnetic. I believe it is copper. The frame work is magnetic. The frame extends out at the bottom with 3 feet measuring about 18" apart. The white globe is a bit unique having the word"Electra" printed on it. Each end of the globe has some rough edges or chips which is not unusual for these globes. It looks very good on the rod. These lightning rods and globes make very nice outdoor or yard decorations and would even be a very unusual and interesting indoor accent.

Great auction find out of Conway South Carolina. Weathervane has a great deal of aging and patina. The metal showing threw is a white metal. No damage seen as far as broken off pieces or gouging. Judging by the style of the font. The hardware and the type of metal I am putting this items age at 1920's or 30's. Over all height is 42" height of rooster is 14" length of rooster is 14"Looks like rooster was painted white with some red through the tail feathers. Most of paint on face still present. Overall weight is 6lbs before being packed.

And all 5 are guaranteed OLD AND ORIGINAL, and not reproductions of any kind(we dug them ourselves out of a basement, and though we could not find the rod, the owner remembered there being one in the past. Each will benefit from a gentle cleaning, as we wiped a small area of that brown stuff around the rims, and it came off fairly easily. It is in the milk glass white. And is in excellent condition. There is some normal roughness on each end of the ball, but it can easily be covered with caps. There are no chips. Cracks or stains. Up for auction is a handsome early 20th century lightning rod from my wife's great-grandparent's old farmhouse. Dated somewhere between 1898 and 1918. The rod and ball are in nice preserved condition-except that the milk white glass ball has chipped rims at both ends(see photos) There is some rust especially on the feet, and nice patina throughout on the rod. When one takes a close examination one can see old mold markings and swirls in the glass. The ball is in good condition with just chipping on the top and bottom where the metal caps go over. We do not have any caps but we understand that they are available on the internet. The ball has a couple little areas of stain markings. The ball measures 4 ½” wide and the same high. Dated somewhere between 1898 and 1918. The rod and ball are in nice preserved condition-except that the milk white glass ball has chipped rims at both ends(see photos) There is some rust especially on the feet, and nice patina throughout on the rod. Antique White Milk Glass Ball Lightning Rod w/ Weather Vane-Spiral Shaft
I really did find this in a barn at an estate sale. It appears to be in good original condition. I don't see any breaks or repairs in the ball. There is one small piece missing on the tail of the weather vane. I really didn't notice it until I took pics so it's not all that noticeable. It has copper. Steel, aluminum and milk glass in it. I'm pretty certain the tip is copper like most of them was. I will have to fold the legs in to ship it. They are simple to fold back out to wherever you want them to be.
