Ag, dry goods, metals, timber and people came to and from Stockton by ship and boat via the San Joaquin Delta system from the San Francisco Bay in the 1800's. So it is certainly likely this piece could have made a long journey before arriving in Stockton. There were artisans in Stockton during the 1800's producing earthenware and glass goods. A good example of early pottery from these area may be found by seaching for"Stockton Art Pottery" online. Just give a few seconds for them to load Here's a very nice vintage Igloo 3 gallon galvanized metal water cooler. I believe this to be 1950's era. You'll see that this cooler has an all-metal interior and all-metal spigot dispenser. This is the earlier version. As the later issue coolers had a plastic interior and plastic push-button spigot. There's a small tri-angle shaped hole on the outside of the piece as you can see in the pics. This hole only pierces the exterior metal and does not go completely thru to the inside. This hole was used to mount the cup dispenser mechanism. Not included with this auction. The outside of the cooler shows some staining from the years spent in the garage. Up for auction today is a Vintage S to neware lid Unknown ma ker and item this goes on. But. I found it on top of a Monmouth 2 Gallon crock, and it fit, but just a bit big and d id not look right. So I am pretty sure it did not go with it-but would assume it would be for a 2 or 3 gallon stoneware crock. Measures just over 1 0.25" diameter and is 8.5" wide at t he insert that goes into the crock. That part is be veled or ang eled. Minn" on the front. This water cooler has 2 metal handles with rust but the handles move well and freely. There is no lid and where the spigot used to be there is now a wooden cork. The Cooler weighs 13 lbs 5 oz. is 12-1/2" tall 9-1/2" across the base and 9-3/4" across the opening, the cork where the spigot used to be measures 1" across. There is a chip along the inside rim of the cooler and a crack on the inside base otherwise the cooler is clean and in good condition. This auction is for a Vintage Red Wing 3 gallon crock. Has a blue number 3 on the front. A red wing and the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing Minn. Stands right at 10" tall with a diameter of right at 10.5" across. This has some blemishes, a chip on the rim and fractures across the bottom as you can see in the photos. Also on the bottom someone has placed felt pads so the crock wouldn't scratch any surface it set on, these could be removed. This is solid, the fractures are not breaks. Unique hand painted three gallon salt glazed crock with beautiful cobalt blue markings. This is one from my personal collection that I need to whittle down a little bit. Its absolutely beautiful! The cobalt blue flower and number three richly stand out. The front of the crock is STAMPED"J FISHER LYONS NY" and was made sometime between 1872 and 1902. It measures 9 3/4" tall and 11" wide not including the handles. There are two cracks on the back that are pictured. Since they are on the back they do not affect the ability to display this piece. 3 gallon Union Stoneware Co. crock. Red Wing, Minnesota. Early Red Wing, circa 1890. This old crock with the double birch leaf design has good markings and displays extremely well. In the first four photos, I've rotated the crock 90 degrees to give you a full picture of its exterior. In the fifth, a picture of the bottom of the crock as seen from the interior, you'll see a"spider crack" that occurred during baking. It does not extend through to the exterior, and the crock is watertight. In the third and sixth photos, you'll see a very fine hairline crack that extends about 8" along the base. Up for bid is this vintage pottery crock with the cobalt blue Crown 3 hallmark and the lid. The outside is glazed in beige. With a cobalt blue crown. The inside is glazed in beige as well. The crock is a 3 gallon size and measures 11 1/4" tall, 10 3/4" wide. What makes this crock rare is that the lid is still intact and with it, as I have found very few with the lid included. The lid has a circular knob handle with a"3" engraved in it. The crock is in beautiful condition with a couple chips on the lid(see photo) Item will be carefully packed and shipped. Stoneware 3 Gallon Cream Pot B.C. Milburn Alexandria Virginia Pottery 1840s
This is a BC Milburn Cream Pot# 3 dating between 1847-1867 from Alexandria. VA. It is a beautiful piece with cobalt floral decoration, slip and applied tab handles. The trailed flowering plant design bears 2 blossoms. Multiple leaves and a central blooming bud. Reverse decorated with 2 blossoms and multiple leaves, shorter stem. Both slip-trailed flowers extend from handle to handle. This piece is 8" in diameter. Slightly larger in center and 14-1/2" tall. There are some cracks in the bottom(3rd from last picture) And a couple of chips on the bottom(last 2 picture) and a chip on the handle. Beautiful piece though and they are hard to come by! The next time we can place BC Milburn at the Wilkes Street pottery is in 1833 when he leased it from Hugh Smith. In 1841 he purchased the Wilkes Street Pottery from Hugh Smith. The ran the pottery business strong until the approach of the Civil War in 1861. BC Milburn had 3 sons that were also in the pottery trade Joseph. Steven, and William. BC Milburn died in 1867. While at the Wilkes Street Pottery BC Milburn produced wares for merchants Hugh Smith, Hugh Charles Smith, and JP Smith… and it was only after Hugh and Hugh Charles’ death that he let the information out that he had produced wares for rival merchant EJ Miller. What you are viewing is an original antique 3-4 gallon(I Think) Stoneware crock with applied handles and a wonderful blue bee sting decoration on the front. Piece is in great shape for its age with some wear and aging to contend with as well as one 6in crack starting from the top. Piece has nice clean handles and crack is in the back of the piece so it won't detract much in display. Piece measures 9in X 8 3/4in X 13 3/4in and is a nice displayable size but once again, I am not sure about the gallon size. RED WING STONEWARE CHURN LID 3 - 4 GALLON MINNESOTA
This is a churn lid marked 3- 4 that fits a 3 or 4 gallon churn made by Red Wing Stoneware of Red Wing Minnesota. Lid measures 7 ¼” diameter. The round opening for the dasher pole is 1 3/16” diameter. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs- there are a few spots where color or glaze is missing and a rough spot next to the dasher pole opening. These imperfections appear to be from manufacturing, not damage amd are not at all significant in an old churn lid like this. This lid is in really good shape. I got this at a clean smoke free collectors auction. This is a vintage crock. There are a few minor cosmetic conditions but it displays VERY very well! The lid fits perfectly and is in good vintage condition. There are a few hairline cracks. On the bottom and and a bottom edge(see pics#4-5) The bottom hairline crack does go through to the inside but it is still very solid and not going to break unless you drop it of course: There is also a chip on the top edge(see pic#3) There is some milk white splash on it which you can see in the first pic but I'm confident you can clean that off if you want without damaging the crock finish. I have outlined the obvious cosmetic conditions but please make sure to check out the pictures I have provided to determine condition for yourself because I am selling this Vintage-As-Is. Antique three(3) Gallon Fort Dodge. Iowa zinc glaze stoneware crock Up for auction is an antique three gallon zinc glazed Fort Dodge. Iowa stoneware crock in excellent condition. The Fort Dodge. Iowa Stoneware Company existed from 1896-1906. In 1906 it was purchased by Western Stoneware Company and then became the Plymouth Stoneware Company from 1908-1909. Red Wing Stoneware Company then purchased the business in 1909 and continued ownership until 1910 when the plant burnt down. It was never rebuilt. This crock is over 100 years old and is almost 11” tall and 10” in diameter. The markings are in black ink. The crock is in very good condition with no chips. Glaze skips or hairline cracks. It does however have two“off-colored” stains that can be seen in photos, BUT… The camera exaggerates the severity of the stains as they are not that noticeable ... morein“real life” Please refer to all photos as they too are part of the description. Although this crock has some staining on it. It is in near perfect shape- nothing compromised. It you look in picture 3, there is a tiny chip on the outer bottom rim. There is some painting drips in picture 9 and I am not sure if they are over the glaze or under as I have never tried to do anything with this except display it. Because it is not as appealing as some listed are, I have started the bid much lower. Still a great crock though. Shipping weight is about 16 pounds. MONMOUTH, ILL. and it's stamped with a MAPLE LEAF. It is in excellent vintage condition with one chip(about 5/8"under the base and some finish crazing. The chip is only visible from the bottom and adds to it's primitive character(see picture) There are several small factory mold marks and pits on the sides, but this is quite normal with this type of old stoneware. Antique Pittsburgh Pottery 3 Gallon Stoneware Crock
Used 3 gallon stoneware crock made by Pittsburgh Pottery. It is 10-3/4" tall and 10-1/2" wide. The color is beige and it has been used and in our family for over 70 years. These were used for storing lard. Making pickles, storing sausages, cream and milk, and many other preserving and storage duties. This was used but well cared for and is in very good condition for it's age. Crazing cracks are part of crocks and don't affect their useage and are found in all crocks I have seen. There is one manufacturing flaw near the bottom but is only on the outside and doesn't affect the interior. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask and look over the pictures well.
