Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Design 2 Gallon Ovoid Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with a few spider cracks on the base with 2 going through to the inside. 3 of them extend up the outside bottom of the crock. There are minor shallow chips to the upper rim. Both outside and inside. The crock is 100% structually sound, it rings true when you tap it and holds water no leaks. No other issues at all. The crock measures 12" tall x 10" wide x 8" at the mouth x 6 1/4" at the base and weighs approximately 10lb 10oz. The crock has an incised 2 below the one handle. In"AS IS" condition as found in estate with crack lines around the bottom. One handle is half chipped off with other chips on top and bottom edges. Some small surface chips to crock on the rear side. Crock is still together however and still rings a bit when tapped. Interior surface is in old dirty untouched condition as found in estate. Charming and humble antique crock. Weighs 4.75 lbs. Antique Circa 1850 "E - FERRIS" Pottery Ginger Beer Bottle Blue Shoulders N.R.
Up for auction is a very nice pottery ginger beer bottle. Reads E- Ferris. The shoulders. Name, and blob top are a nice cobalt blue. This bottle is in overall good condition, though there in one small flake from the top of the lip, a pot stone mark on the side, and a small minor line in the glaze from the base of the bottle, see pics. Overall these areas should not be too much of an issue for this rare bottle. All areas being mentioned are to be as accurate as I can and most of these bottles have these types of wear. Antique 1 Gallon Stoneware Gray Colored Crock With Cobalt Blue Feather Design
Up for bids is a one gallon antique gray colored stoneware crock with a cobalt blue feather pattern as pictured. The crock is probably native to here in southwestern Pennsylvania where many famous potters made their crocks and jugs with this color clay and blue designs in the mid 1800's. The crock stands 10 1/4" high and measures 6 1/4" wide across the top rim and 6 3/4" wide across the bottom. If your looking at the crock from the front where the number one is there is one chip on the top left side. One chip on the bottom edge on the right side and a tight 4" long hairline crack on the back side as seen in the pictures. Otherwise the crock is in very nice solid condition. Antique from the 1910 era. I do have some 1950's crocks that are shippable in my store from roseville. This was from an estate that the lady passed at 92 and this was in her basement along with 7 other crocks which I will list as time permits. I have cleaned them the best I could as they were the dirtiest I have ever seen. There may be some indications of usage.This blue star# 6 crock is in rough condition it still has the wood and metal handles on it although the metal is rusty. There are some chips. Cracks. The lid is in great condition, measures 1-3/4' thick. The crock stands 13" tall 13-1/4" accross the top of the rim. This Rare 2Gal. Taunton Blue Bird" Crock is absolutely stunning. The Cobalt decoration is big. Bold and flawless; a perfectly executed Slip-Trailed design. This folky Bird is heavily shaded and perched on a thick, dotted twig. Clearly impressed on the shoulder: F,T, WRIGHT& SON, TAUNTON, MASS. There should be periods, rather than commas(F.T. WRIGHT) but this stamp error only adds to the appeal! Franklin Wright(and his son) ran this Massachusetts stoneware manufactory for 10 years, beginning in 1866. Fine, consistent Salt Glaze exterior; Albany Slip inside; some age-appropriate mineral stains on the rim and inside edge. Offered is this vintage or antique 4-gallon almost-white crock. The crock is marked with a blue"4" inside of a star inside of a circle. It originally had a handle and lid but these are no longer present. The crock measures just over 15" high and is about 9 1/2" wide across the top. It is in very good condition. With no cracks and only a couple of very minor rim chips. There are also a couple of very small areas that look like they were never glazed. As you might imagine this is a very heavy item. Antique Blue White Salt Glaze Stoneware Large Milk Crock Bail Bowl RARE! Minty!
In the years that I have owned this bowl I have never seen another one. The best I can tell from my internet research and consulting the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This is an Apple Blossom on diamond waffle patterned salt glazed stoneware milk crock. It is missing the bail. Aside from that, this piece is near mint. There is a imperfection in one of the bail ears that appears it may have occurred during the firing process because it looks glazed over. No other cracks, no chips. It measures 10" across(or just under 11.5" from bail ear to ear) 5" high and 6" wide across the base. Milk crocks this size in other patterns are in the book. The molding on this is very sharp and crisp. The apple blossom on diamond waffle is shown on other pieces such as butter and salt crocks, however I cannot find this ... morepattern on this bowl anywhere. T.F. Reppert antique stoneware crock from Greensboro PA. Sadly this one is broken. It was shipped to my father and didn't survive the trip. He is thinning out his collection beginning with the broken ones. This was broken into pieces and glue repaired. I'm sure a professional repair job could be possible. But this feels pretty sturdy as is. It would not hold water but still displays well. It's a beautiful piece of history that can't be replaced and shouldn't just be thrown away because it's broken. Antique Blue White Salt Glaze Stoneware Yellow Ware Daisy Trellis Butter Crock
As identified in the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This auction is for a common pattern Daisy And Trellis Butter Holder. It measures 6" wide by 4.75 tall. Mint value $125- $175. There are six large daisies on a close trellis background. This is missing a lid and a bail which it held at one time. Bail holes for this mold were not made to go through to the interior. There is one fine hairline crack on the interior of bail hole placement that extends from top down approx 2.75" it is not visible on outside surface. The opposite bail hole has an old chip on the ear approx 1/2" long. Please refer to pics as details of description of condition and ask any questions before bidding. Nice looking. Great condition small salt glaze jar. It is approximately 4" tall, 5" across the top rim, 4 1/2" at the base, and about 6" handle to handle. Very solid, great coloring, no cracks, it does have some surface wear and a couple of small flea bite chips. Overall very nice and highly collectible. Beautiful Robin's Egg Blue Antique Salt Glaze Butter Crock With Original Lid
This auction is for a Fantastic Antique Robin's Egg Blue Salt Glaze Butter Crock with its original lid. The crock has a neat block shaped pattern around the top and bottom and is beautifully colored in a Soft Blue Salt Glaze. The crock has two side holes for a handle. Both the lid and the crock are in very good condition. Especially considering their age. There are no chips or cracks. Which is rare for crockery of this era. There are several condition issues from th e manufacturing process. Such as glaze drips and roughness around the edges. There is also a firing line around the lid handle(see last photo) It is not a crack as it doesn't go through to the other side.
