Wonderful large antique ROBINS EGG BLUE crock. I've had this and enjoyed it for many. Many years. It's very unusual and in general good condition, there is a short crack near the rim as shown in photo which includes a chip at the end of the crack on the inside. On the crock rim. There's a spot that has been worn down from sharpening knives on it. I have fond memories of my mom handing this crock to my dad with a knife to sharpen as dinner was being prepared.many years of this is shown in the wear to the same spot. 1914 written on bottom. This is a small but great old crock. It has no identifying marks. It has lovely character marks and signs of age. The is one very fine crack less than two inches long extending from the rim down and is visible in the enlarged picture of the inside. It has a few poc marks that I believe are not damage but most likely have always graced this lovely crock. It stands 4" high with a 5" diameter and weighs 2 pounds. Old Antique Redwing 5 Gallon Stoneware Crock Jug Butter Churn Red Wing
We have this old Redwing butter churn crock to offer in good as found condition. It is marked with the wing and Union Stoneware logo. It has wire handles. No lid and a nice 4" wing. The crock has a flaw on the bottom that looks like it was made this way. Just a hole, small. not a chip. There is a 1" crack that is on the bottom rim that is also a firing crack. Only shallow and not seen inside. This is a good Redwing Churn and is a hard to find piece. It is in good clean condition and is 16 1/2" tall. For your consideration is a bottom marked butter crock of the five pound size. This butter crock was made by Minnesota Stoneware Co. which was located in Red Wing. Minnesota. The embossed writing on the bottom, says: MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO. RED WING; I have bought, sold, traded and collected stoneware since 1973 and have literally owned hundreds of pieces that were bottom marked MINNESOTA STONEWARE; as for the mark being distinct and readable, this butter crock has to be in the top five of embossed MINNESOTA STONEWARE marks. This company existed in Red Wing, Minnesota from 1883-1906. The glaze indicates this butter crock was manufactured between 1895 and 1906. This butter crock has a tie ring, which means it has an indented ring close to the rim in which a string can be placed to hold a cloth or paper that is stretched over the top. The cloth ... moreor paper is to shield the contents from whatever is in the atmosphere. This butter crock has a height of approximately 4 7/8" and the bottom has a diameter of approximately 6 5/8" This butter crock has 0 cracks, however it does have a chip on the inner rim and another chip where the side meets the bottom. This has a raised lid, as is often with a salt box or crock. These came marked both as Salt or Butter; also unmarked, as is this one. We think the condition of the crock is good. But please check the pictures for your own determination. It does have a very fine crack on one side, running from the top, 3 in. down the side, not very noticeable; it has only one chip. A tiny flake on the top rim, probably a burst mould bubble. The lid has seen lots of use. It has chips and a fine crack; it does fit nice and tight on it's base. AAFA - Small 19th c. Butter Crock w/Cover, Cobalt Blue Swags, 1/2 Gal.
Found in New England is this great looking. Slightly tapered 1/2 gal. salt-glazed stoneware cake crock with 7 repeating dark cobalt blue swags. The dark tan glaze is still glossy and completely covers the bottom as well as the sides. There is a decorative incised line 1-1/2" down from the top that goes completely around the crock. The interior is a rich brown albany slip. Included with the crock is a very nicely fitting lid, although I'm not sure if it is original to the crock. The crock stands only 4-3/4" high with an 11/16" lip x 7-3/8" wide at the top, and 7-3/4" wide at the bottom. The condition is excellent and solid, although there is a professionally filled hairline that can be seen in the last photo. There are also a few old surface chips on the top of the lid. This is a unique cheese or butter crock. Picture 8 shows a chip in the lid. But it may have been during the manufacturing process. There are also some other imperfections from the making of this piece as you can see in photos. There are two very fine hairline cracks on this crock. Pictures 11 and 12 show these. The one in picture 11 hardly goes through. If at all. And, the one in picture 12 shows about half of the crack going all the way through to the inside. About 5 1/2" Tall to the top of the wire. Offering antique 19th century large covered stoneware salt glaze butter crock with mold fruit and floral decoration on the body of the crock and the lid. The condition of the crock is excellent. The lid has one small flat flake on the ede only. The background of the surface has been decorated with molded wave pattern- see pictures. The name BUTTER is molded on the front of the crock.There is original metal wire handle. It is 6 3/4" in diameter and 3 1/2" deep. Measures with the lid the covered butter crock is 4 1/8" tall and the lid is 6 5/8" across. Weight before packing is 3.12 lbs. This is old item and demonstrate characteristic of age including wear on the bottom and top edge. As identified in the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This auction is for a common pattern Daisy And Trellis Butter Holder. It measures 6" wide by 4.75 tall. Mint value $125- $175. There are six large daisies on a close trellis background. This is missing a lid and a bail which it held at one time. Bail holes for this mold were not made to go through to the interior. There is one fine hairline crack on the interior of bail hole placement that extends from top down approx 2.75" it is not visible on outside surface. Beautiful Robin's Egg Blue Antique Salt Glaze Butter Crock With Original Lid
This auction is for a Fantastic Antique Robin's Egg Blue Salt Glaze Butter Crock with its original lid. The crock has a neat block shaped pattern around the top and bottom and is beautifully colored in a Soft Blue Salt Glaze. The crock has two side holes for a handle. Both the lid and the crock are in very good condition. Especially considering their age. There are no chips or cracks. Which is rare for crockery of this era. There are several condition issues from th e manufacturing process. Such as glaze drips and roughness around the edges. There is also a firing line around the lid handle(see last photo) It is not a crack as it doesn't go through to the other side. One handle hole has a flake(see photo 11) The crock measures about 5 3/4 inches tall with the lid on and about 7 1/2 inches wide. Please check my feedback and buy with ... moreconfidence. Very old crock approx 4 1/8" tall and approx 3 7/8" wide. It has typical crazing for this age of piece. There is a small chip on inside of rim and a crack beside it that goes down part way. Nice old piece for collection.
