This was found stashed in the box of the attic of our home when we purchased in 1983 from a 92 year old man. The home was built in 1928. Actually their were a dozen bowls! I already had a small collection of vintage pottery. And these were a nice addition! Not sure exactly how old these are. It is a very nice sturdy piece. weighing 3 lbs! and would compliment any crock or stoneware collection. The stoneware/ pottery has a reddish appearance as seen along the top edge and bottom of the crock. The main colors are gray and cobalt blue. There is pitting. Definitely occurred during manufacturing. There aren't any marks to indicate as to who the manufacturer was. This crock is in amazing condition with no chips. Cracks or hairlines anywhere and no paint chipping. Crock is a beige color with the double dark blue stripes. Antique Stoneware Crock Lid Blue Stripes 10" Fits 2 or 3 Gal. Raised Handle
This stoneware crock lid measures 10" in diameter- see picture that shows the underside to see measurements of the lip. It is heavy stoneware- weighs 2 1/4 pounds. There is a 3" hairline crack(it's tight) from the edge. There is some splitting of the glaze under the handle. This fits both a 2 gallon and 3 gallon crock I have(depends on the shape) and a large stoneware chamber pot. As with most old stoneware. There are glaze irregularities. Please see all pictures. Antique Blue Gray farm prim 4 Stripes Cobalt free hand decoration Crock
Hello. This crock is just a tad over 7.75” high and is about 5” across the top. There are no cracks. You’ll find the typical glaze& firing imperfections and some firing pops to the surface. There are some nicks on the interior rim which do not affect display quality. The interior has a dark brown glaze. Exterior has a wonderful orange peel finish. The four cobalt stripes are strong.
