Up for auction is an Antique New York Stoneware Deep Blue Flower Design 4 Gallon Crock. The New York Stoneware Co and the number 4 is impressed. The flower design is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider ... morehairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. It's very unusual and in general good condition, there is a short crack near the rim as shown in photo which includes a chip at the end of the crack on the inside. On the crock rim. There's a spot that has been worn down from sharpening knives on it. I have fond memories of my mom handing this crock to my dad with a knife to sharpen as dinner was being prepared.many years of this is shown in the wear to the same spot. 1914 written on bottom. We can't recall seeing this very charming mark before, and can't seem to find any record of stoneware being sold with this mark, so we're guessing it's at least very scarce if not quite rare. Probably dates to the late 1800's, we're also guessing. We're also not sure, but believe this is either from Mansfield, Ohio or Mansfield, Massachusetts. We invite emails with further information that we can add to this listing. Nicely decorated with a cobalt feather like design below the cobalt washed merchant stamp. And a stamped"2" for a 2 gallon crock above it. Measures about 8 and 3/4 inches tall and 9 and ... more1/2 inches across. There is a crack that begins at the top edge left of the decoration and ends on the base as can be seen in the photos. Otherwise, it appears to be in surprisingly good shape. The only other flaws are in the making glaze pops as can be seen in the photos, one just above the g in general(with a bit of cobalt glaze over it) and then there's one on the interior and two on the back side(each about 1/4 inch across) and some minor imperfections, scratches and wear as to be expected with a utilitarian stoneware piece. Heavy crazed thick stoneware crock with"coffee" labeled on the front. The crock has been wired at the top because of the cracks on each side. Crack on one side goes almost to the bottom of crock. This is a Vintage Blue Crown 2 Gallon Stoneware water Cooler Crock With Lid A nd Sp igot. Th is is a cool old crock. I do not know it's exact age. I t looks like the lid may be a replacement but I cannot tell for sure. The spigot is pla stic and the interior of the cr ock and lid are immaculate so your guess as to the age of this is as good as mine. This would make a big hit on your Thanksgiving beverage table or next summer picnic. The exterior of the crock has quite a bit of crazing and also has a yellowi sh discoloration of the glaze. i do not know if it could be cleaned off but I do know it adds to the character of the item. Minn" on the front. This water cooler has 2 metal handles with rust but the handles move well and freely. There is no lid and where the spigot used to be there is now a wooden cork. The Cooler weighs 13 lbs 5 oz. is 12-1/2" tall 9-1/2" across the base and 9-3/4" across the opening, the cork where the spigot used to be measures 1" across. There is a chip along the inside rim of the cooler and a crack on the inside base otherwise the cooler is clean and in good condition. We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Design 2 Gallon Ovoid Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with a few spider cracks on the base with 2 going through to the inside. 3 of them extend up the outside bottom of the crock. There are minor shallow chips to the upper rim. Both outside and inside. The crock is 100% structually sound, it rings true when you tap it and holds water no leaks. No other issues at all. The crock measures 12" tall x 10" wide x 8" at the mouth x 6 1/4" at the base and weighs approximately 10lb 10oz. The crock has an incised 2 below the one handle. A lovely large crock with a great ovoid shape and applied handles. It has a heavy and dark cobalt blue flower and leaf design that borders the top half of the crock. Up for auction is a very nice pottery ginger beer bottle. Reads E- Ferris. The shoulders. Name, and blob top are a nice cobalt blue. This bottle is in overall good condition, though there in one small flake from the top of the lip, a pot stone mark on the side, and a small minor line in the glaze from the base of the bottle, see pics. Overall these areas should not be too much of an issue for this rare bottle. All areas being mentioned are to be as accurate as I can and most of these bottles have these types of wear. THIS IS A 2 GALLON IN BLUE SCROLLING WORK ON A SALT GLAZED PIECE WITH BROWN INTERIOR, THERE IS A SMALL HAIRLINE SEE THE END OF MY THUMB AND A CHIP ON THE BOTTOM AS WELL. It is 6.00" across. The only flaws are a flake along the top rim and a hairline along the bottom and side(See pictures) This is still very sturdy and sound.
